Job description

About Weston Hospicecare

For more than 35 years, Weston Hospicecare has provided specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people across North Somerset and the surrounding area. Supporting over 2,000 patients and families each year, the charity delivers inpatient, community, wellbeing and family support services, ensuring compassionate care is available free of charge when it is needed most. With an annual turnover of approximately £7 million, around 170 staff and more than 800 volunteers, Weston Hospicecare is a highly respected and valued part of the local community.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the South West's most respected charities through its next chapter.

Reporting to the Chair and Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive will provide inspirational leadership, ensuring the organisation continues to deliver exceptional care while strengthening its long-term sustainability, influence and impact. You will lead strategic development across the organisation, build strong partnerships, support innovation and champion a positive culture where staff and volunteers can thrive.

We are looking for a collaborative and values-driven leader with strong strategic, financial and stakeholder management skills who is passionate about making a lasting difference to people facing life-limiting illness and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for the organisation.
  • Build strong partnerships across the NHS, Integrated Care System, local authorities and voluntary sector.
  • Drive financial sustainability and income growth.
  • Lead organisational development, change and innovation.
  • Work closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure effective governance.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing organisational culture.
  • Act as a passionate ambassador for Weston Hospicecare and hospice care more broadly.
  • Ensure the continued delivery of outstanding services for patients and families.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to lead a charity that is deeply valued within its community and supported by an exceptional team of staff and volunteers. You will play a vital role in shaping the future of specialist palliative care and ensuring local people continue to receive outstanding support when they need it most.
