Finance Manager / Head of Finance

Our client is an international arts and cultural organisation delivering a diverse programme of events and collaborations throughout the year. Based in beautiful offices near Oxford Circus, this is an opportunity to join a small, passionate team where every individual makes a genuine impact.

This role would suit an ambitious Management Accountant or Finance Manager looking to take the next step and gain end-to-end responsibility for a finance function. Reporting to the COO/CFO, you will take ownership of all day-to-day finance activities, while working closely with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts and budget reporting
• Lead month-end processes, including journals, accruals and reconciliations
• Manage payroll, VAT returns and maintain strong financial controls
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
• Partner with programme teams to manage budgets across a busy programme of 100+ events each year
• Monitor event expenditure and develop effective costing frameworks
• Act as the key contact for external accountants and auditors
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and financial efficiency

About You

You will bring:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or equivalent experience
• Strong experience producing end-to-end management accounts
• Excellent Excel skills and experience with accounting systems, ideally Xero
• A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with non-finance stakeholders

Experience within the charity, arts or wider not-for-profit sector would be beneficial but is not essential.

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Nature and Society Advocacy Manager to join our policy team. This exciting and important new role will lead a high-performing team to shape and deliver advocacy strategies that maximise the Woodland Trust’s influence on UK national and local policy, driving nature recovery and access to trees for all. 

Working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and supporters, you will develop evidence-based, practical policy solutions and identify new opportunities to influence decision-makers across key areas including nature recovery, land use, planning, infrastructure, ecosystems, access to nature, and health and wellbeing. 

This role is advertised as full-time, 37.5 hours per week, however we would consider applications from those wanting reduced hours at 30 per week. 

The Role: 

• Lead and develop the Nature and Society Advocacy team, identifying capability gaps and providing coaching, direction and support to deliver effective policy advocacy. 
• Build strong cross-organisational relationships to secure coordinated support for advocacy activities and ensure senior leaders and colleagues are effectively briefed. 
• Provide expert advice on UK and international policy developments to senior stakeholders, enabling consistent, evidence-based advocacy, communications and campaigns. 
• Develop and maintain influential relationships with government, parliamentarians, NGOs, businesses, academics, media and other key stakeholders to advance advocacy objectives. 
• Represent the Woodland Trust externally at high-level forums and with key audiences to strengthen the organisation’s influence and achieve policy outcomes. 
• Contribute to the strategic development of the Trust’s policy advocacy work and lead the development and promotion of policy positions through stakeholder engagement and media activity. 
• Commission and apply policy research, and provide specialist input to reports, consultation responses, briefings and other advocacy materials. 
• Oversee the effective delivery of advocacy projects through budget management, monitoring and evaluation, and continuous learning to maintain high-quality, up-to-date policy expertise. 
• This is a hybrid position with a mix of home working, and from our head office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Head office attendance would be required no more than once a month on average. Occasional travel to other offices and remote locations may also be required. 

The Candidate: 

• Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams, managing people, projects and multiple workstreams. 
• Expertise in budget management, policy research and the delivery of evidence-based advocacy programmes. 
• Significant experience in policy advocacy across nature recovery, land use and planning, and access to nature. 
• Proven ability to develop, negotiate and secure policy solutions that deliver positive outcomes for nature and society. 
• Strong track record of building and influencing senior-level internal and external stakeholder relationships. 
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and present complex issues clearly across a range of channels and media. 
• Experience designing and implementing theory of change, monitoring, evaluation and continuous learning frameworks. 
• Degree-level qualification in conservation, ecology, geography, land management, environmental or biological sciences, with a strong understanding of UK environmental and social policy, legislation, and evidence analysis.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Fundraising, the Senior Programme Funding Manager will play a central role in strengthening programme fundraising capacity across country teams and the global fundraising function. With a particular focus on institutional fundraising, you'll provide technical leadership to support country directors and in-country fundraising colleagues to build high-quality donor engagement, develop and progress funding opportunities, and manage donor compliance across the full funding cycle. You'll line manage country-based fundraising roles (currently across Moldova, Kenya and Ukraine), helping to build strong pipelines, shape fundable propositions, coordinate high-quality proposal development, and ensure excellent stewardship, reporting and internal alignment across systems and sign-off processes.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience in institutional and/or programme funding, with a demonstrable track record of developing compelling proposals and managing funder requirements and compliance. You'll be confident advising and influencing senior stakeholders, providing donor intelligence and engagement support (including with UNICEF offices, bilateral donors, UN agencies and EU actors), and translating complex programme work into clear, credible and fundable narratives. You'll also have the leadership and coaching skills to line manage and develop colleagues across geographies, and the judgement to identify and escalate risks while strengthening tools, processes and ways of working. Occasional international travel will be required.

The Vacancy

The Policy and Communications Manager will act as a driving force behind our visibility and impact across key policy areas, bringing lived and learned experiences to the heart of our influencing. This role will work to elevate our profile, transforming our evidence and expertise into impactful communications and influencing strategies to build a momentum for meaningful policy, legislative and social change.

This position will bridge the gap between NCB’s evidence-based policy development and national advocacy, translating complex policy issues into powerful narratives that resonate with decision-makers and galvanise wider support. The role will manage and deliver key elements of NCB’s core work across policy and communications, lead the delivery of funded projects and provide robust project management, and actively contribute to project proposals and income generation.

As an Employment Support Coach, you’ll work one-to-one with individuals to build confidence, overcome barriers, and connect them with opportunities that match their goals. Leeds Mind promotes positive mental health and wellbeing and provides help and support to anyone who needs it in and around Leeds.  We have faith and optimism in our clients and so the services we deliver are built around their needs. We support the people of Leeds to discover their own resources to ‘recover’ from periods of poor mental health, and to live life independently with their mental health condition. 

Employment is a key part of mental health recovery.
