Job description

Role Overview:
The Talent Set are delighted to partner with our client on a fantastic Interim Senior Communications and Engagement Manager role. This position primarily involves overseeing strategic communications, project management, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on guiding processes and supporting high-profile events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage strategic communications, ensuring clarity, consistency, and high-quality content across various channels.
  • Take ownership of key projects, including the coordination and delivery of major events and organisational reports.
  • Manage relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, and senior stakeholders, including high-profile individuals.
  • Oversee the production of the organisation’s annual report, ensuring deadlines are met in line with legal commitments.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes and workflows for communications and events activities.
  • Provide strategic guidance, while also engaging in operational delivery where necessary.
  • Coordinate and lead the planning and execution of high-profile events, including a significant annual event in February and Commonwealth Day activities.
  • Manage third-party suppliers to ensure seamless event and communications execution.
  • Handle sensitive or challenging conversations with diplomacy and confidence, including pushing back when appropriate.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration and ensure smooth coordination of activities amid competing priorities.


Person Specification:

  • Proven experience managing high-level communications and project management activities.
  • Ability to work confidently and independently in a senior role, with a strategic yet operational mindset.
  • Excellent copy editing, proofreading, and attention to detail skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with high-profile stakeholders, including politicians or senior figures.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with a diplomatic approach and capacity for difficult conversations.
  • Skilled at managing deadlines and prioritising effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working across organisational boundaries and with external suppliers.
  • Digital experience, particularly website or online content management, is desirable.
  • Experience in event coordination and process optimisation is advantageous.
  • An understanding or background in higher education or international organisations is a plus.


What’s on Offer:

  • Salary: £41,520 pro-rata | FTE: £51,900 per annum
  • Location:  London – Hybrid
  • Contract: Part-time role (28 hours per week) running until April 2027 with a September start date
