About the role

The Passage has secured funding to deliver a 1-year pilot, exploring how the use of peer support can prevent further homelessness and increase social mobility, by giving people the support and confidence to get reintegrated into the community. 

This pilot will involve the recruitment and training of 10 lived experience volunteers who will share their insights and provide support to people recently re-housed to set and achieve goals with a focus on community re-integration. The pilot will offer a range of interventions including 1:1 support, community events and online training. 

The Passage recognizes that someone’s journey of homelessness doesn’t just end when accommodation is secured. What is often a confidence-stripping and traumatizing experience can take time to recover from. The first steps can be the most challenging for individuals to put down new roots and get back to where they were before that period. 

As The Lived Experience Specialist Project Worker, you will support your manager in the design, delivery, monitoring and reporting of the pilot; with a particular focus on supporting the volunteers in their roles. 

The Passage believes that peer support and the sharing of lived experience are essential tools in supporting people to take steps toward becoming more active, involved and connected. We also know that delivering peer support and helping others are also crucial cornerstones in processing living experience into lived experience. 

Main duties

• To support the recruitment and retention of lived-experience volunteers. 
• Have oversight of the day-to-day delivery of volunteers work by providing guidance & direction and ensuring volunteer support is delivered in a safe and supportive manner. 
• Support the creation of a volunteering environment where having lived experience is not a barrier but a tool to help others. 
• To support the manager to create and maintain procedures which underpin the pilot and volunteers’ activities, ensuring they are fit for purpose.

The Bounce Back service forms an integral part of Hertfordshire Mind Network’s Complex Needs Community Services. The service provides one-to-one outreach support to facilitate a smooth, timely and supportive discharge from hospital back in to the community.

About the Project

Herts Mind Network (HMN) has formed a partnership with Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust (HPFT) to deliver a one-to-one outreach service for people who are in hospitals across Hertfordshire.

There is an emergency department arm of the project and will be based at Watford General Hospital working in A&E departments, with the Mental Health Liaison Team, and hospital wards facilitating hospital discharge for people with a mental health and/or drugs and alcohol need.

About the Role:

The Bounce Back Worker will be based at Watford General Hospital and HMN Centres, promoting joint working between Watford A&E, creating a seamless pathway into community support for clients recovering from mental ill health.

The aims of the Bounce Back service are to provide up to 16 sessions of emotional and practical support and advice & information to patients. We will visit patients on the ward and continue the sessions in the local community and in patient’s homes once discharged. We will facilitate a smooth and timely hospital discharge.

Key Responsibilities

The Bounce Back worker will use a recovery orientated approach working with patients on the ward, and in the local community, including in people’s homes.  The recovery approach includes empathy, warmth, acceptance, authenticity, compassion and humanity. To work with hospital staff to ensure patients are offered advice, information, and holistic support.

The post holder will need to:

• Provide practical and emotional support to encourage patients to develop their independence within their local community.
• Facilitate a smooth discharge from hospital back to the community.
• Have a solid understanding on the dual effect of mental health and drugs and alcohol.
• Monitor outcomes and evaluate the service.
• Ensure that the safety and wellbeing of patients using the service is monitored and reviewed regularly.
• Embed a person centred and recovery orientated approach in all aspects of the roles and responsibilities.

• Building strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver practical, customer-focused HR solutions
• Working closely with HR Business Partners, Recruitment teams and external providers to deliver joined-up people solutions
• Ensuring HR policies are up to date, legally compliant and consistently applied
• Maintaining accurate HR records and systems (including iTrent) and supporting KPI reporting
• Identifying risks and gaps in ER processes and proactively recommending improvements
• Supporting establishment budget management within relevant business areas

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a confident, credible HR professional who enjoys working collaboratively and isn’t afraid to take ownership. You’ll bring:

• CIPD qualification (or equivalent relevant experience)
• Strong technical knowledge across employee relations and employment law
• Proven experience managing disciplinary and grievance cases independently (essential)
• Housing Association experience – highly desirable
• Public Sector experience – highly desirable
• Exposure to complex ER casework (desirable but not essential)
• Demonstrable experience influencing and advising senior managers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement
• High levels of IT literacy, including advanced use of HR systems and MS Office
• Coaching qualification (desirable)

The organisation is looking for the successful candidate to start ASAP but are happy to wait up for a month notice period for the right candidate.

Salary: £52,000 - £56,000
Contract: Permanent
Location: London office – 2 days per week

We have a great opportunity for an Assistant Head of Community Fundraising at one of the UK’s leading social welfare charities. Reporting to the Head of Community Fundraising, this is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior leadership role, shape strategy, and lead a high-performing team while driving innovation and growth in community and events fundraising.

As part of this role, you will lead the development and delivery of a national fundraising programme, broaden reach to new audiences, and inspire long-term supporter engagement. You’ll manage a team of three and oversee six-figure income and expenditure budgets, ensuring excellent supporter experiences and data-driven decision-making to maximise impact.

To be successful as the Assistant Head of Community Fundraising, you will need:

• Extensive experience in community and events fundraising, including strategic planning and delivery.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and lead high-performing teams to achieve income targets.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience building collaborative relationships at all levels.
