Fundraising Compliance Executive

Barnardo's is seeking a detail-oriented Fundraising Compliance Executive to ensure our fundraising and marketing activities meet all regulatory and internal standards. This is a new role, reporting directly to the Head of Supporter Care, Services and Compliance.  Initially this role is for a 12-month fixed term contract. 

Key responsibilities:

• Monitor compliance across face-to-face fundraising and all of our gambling products
• Produce accurate compliance reports and carry out auditing of fundraising activities
• Maintain and update compliance frameworks and risk registers
• Deliver compliance training and guidance relating to all of our fundraising activities

What we're looking for:

• Experience in compliance roles and knowledge of fundraising, CIoF, GDPR, and gambling rules, regulations and guidance
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience of working across different teams and with third party service providers
• Ability to work independently and manage own workloads and priorities, 
• Someone to be flexible in working hours, with the ability to travel across the UK as and when required

This is a hybrid role with regular travel and occasional overnight stays.

About the role

This role supports the Area Manager to ensure shops across the area are safe, welcoming and thriving. You’ll represent Shelter in the community, creating positive experiences for customers, donors and volunteers while maximising Gift Aid and encouraging ongoing support.

You’ll help to oversee shop operations – from pricing and stock rotation to displays and local income-generating events, along with playing a key part in recruiting, developing and guiding Community Shop Managers.

Financial responsibility is central, following procedures, reviewing shop accounts and supporting managers to identify opportunities and reduce costs. Success means helping shops meet and exceed targets, increasing Shelter’s contribution and ensuring vibrant, well-run shops that maximise impact.

About the team

This role sits within the Income Generation directorate within the Retail team at Shelter. You will work alongside and report into the Area Manager, along with the Community Shop Managers of the shops you will be helping to oversee.

The Strategy and Knowledge (S&K) Directorate exists to help shape the world around us - and what the NSPCC does - so that it reflects what we have learned and can help keep children safe from abuse.

The Directorate is responsible for organisational strategy, developing and influencing public policy, championing an evidence-based approach in all our work, developing innovative services and managing our knowledge and information.

This role within our Policy and Public Affairs team will assist in delivering our influencing campaigns asking for public support to persuade government to change laws and policies to better protect children and young people. The Marketing and Campaigns Manager is responsible for the delivery and implementation of the company’s marketing, campaigns and district event activity.  - Assist in the planning and delivery of a new brand identity and brand proposition

- Maintain an accurate and relevant image library and logo library for communications purposes, with the ability to do necessary editing.

Person Specification

- Marketing experience gained through working in direct response, member marketing or similar, likely to require at least 5 years prior relevant experience.

- A flexible approach, professional outlook and positive attitude is essential.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to manage changing priorities, with proven ability to adapt.

- Collaborative team member, able to work across teams with peers in other departments to help further projects

- Confident interpersonal and communication skills for face to face and remote interactions.

- Excellent copywriting skills along with an aptitude for proof reading.

- Experience having written copy and created content for social media

- Exceptional personal planning and organisational skills.

- Adept at independent working taking accountability for own workload and timely deliverables of work.

- Strong planning and time management/multi-tasking skills, with the ability to take the initiative and work independently with little supervision yet maintaining regular communication within the team.

As the Governance and Workspace Assistant, you will provide proactive, high quality administrative support to the Board of Trustees,  Workspace Management and the compliance responsibilities of the Planning, Governance and Assurance Directorate.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing the annual Board meeting schedule, ensuring timely and efficient preparation, including organisation of pre-meetings.
• Coordinating in-person Board and online Committee meetings, including preparing and distributing papers and arranging logistics such as venues, travel, and accommodation.
• Responsible for accurately recording meeting minutes, capturing key discussions, decisions, and agreed actions.

As Legal Operations Specialist, you will play a key role in strengthening how the Legal Team operates, enabling it to deliver high-quality, timely and impactful legal support across Save the Children UK.
