Operations Director:

A new post at the Longford Trust, created at an exciting time of growth and development for the charity.

- A 3 day-a-week role;

- Reporting to the Director and working as part of the Senior Management Team of the trust, within an overall cohort of eight, all part-time posts;

Person specification

Essential qualities you need to be able to demonstrate:

- commitment to prison reform, with an understanding of the prison system and the barriers it creates for those leaving prison (lived experience of the prison or the criminal justice system is valued);

The Longford Trust was set up in 2002. Each November, it stages an annual Longford Lecture and awards an annual Longford Prize. Our Longford Scholarship programme supports young serving and ex-prisoners to continue their rehabilitation by going to university. It is the only programme of its type across the UK, supporting more than 600 individuals so far, with over 100 current award-holders, as well as many alumni who continue to be part of the trust. Between 80 and 85% of those we support go on to graduate, move into employment and build new lives. Our scholarship programme accounts for more than three quarters of our expenditure

We are looking for a part-time, UK-based Finance Manager who wants to work flexible hours from home and be a key member of a small, but influential, charity that helps museums work with the information that connects collections and audiences. Aims and scope of the post

The aim of this post is to ensure sound financial management to support the organisation’s ongoing charitable work. The Finance Manager is responsible for CT’s financial strategy, timely and accurate financial administration, maintenance of financial and management accounts, as well as cash flow, stock control, payroll and pension.

Responsibilities and tasks

Budgeting and forecasting

• Produce annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and scenario models for the organisation budget.
• Support budget forecasting for project tenders, ensuring due diligence and financial viability.

Reporting

• Produce quarterly management accounts, including variance reports, analysis by income streams, and cashflow forecasts.
• Prepare and present financial reports for the quarterly board meetings and biannual audit committee meeting.
• Produce minutes of the audit committee meetings and contribute to the minutes of board meetings.
• Complete statutory reporting to Companies House, the Charity Commission and HMRC.
• Submit the relevant reports to funders to ensure timely receipt of grant payments.

Financial management

• Process supplier invoices and carry out twice-monthly payment runs.
• Raise customer invoices for consultancy work, licensing agreements, training, and other income due.
• Carry out credit control for overdue customer invoices.
• Manage payroll, including monthly payments to HMRC, payroll year end, and pension contributions.
• Manage CT bank accounts, including weekly monitoring of transactions and income matching, managing bank mandates and online access.
• Manage company credit cards, ensuring strong controls and adequate accounting for individual cardholders’ usage.
• Respond to financial queries from customers, suppliers, funders and staff members.
• Manage grant receipts.
• Oversee the retail function, responding to queries and issues regarding sales of items through the CT online shop.
• Oversee the purchase ordering system.

Accounting

• Carry out monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations.
• Complete month-end procedures, including processing accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and inventory list.
• Ensure accurate accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Complete quarterly VAT returns, ensuring the correct VAT treatment for all transactions (specifically regarding business/non business, and irrecoverable VAT designations).
• Complete year-end procedures and prepare draft statutory accounts for audit, together with schedules to support the figures and workings in the statutory accounts.
• Act as the main point of contact to external auditors, providing all required information.

Risk management

• Lead on maintaining the organisation’s strategic risk register.
• Ensure adequate annual insurance.
• Regularly review the reserves policy to ensure that it meets the needs of the organisation.
• Carry out regular reviews of systems, procedures and financial controls to ensure they are fit for purpose.

Line management

• This role does not line manage any staff

General responsibilities

APB exists to support Religious Order Bursars (and others) involved in the management of their charities. A vacancy in the post of General Secretary will arise later this year due to the retirement of the current post holder.

The General Secretary is responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of the Association which has over 200 members. The General Secretary ensures the APB website is kept up to date and useful resources are available to support members in their work. We’ve made substantial progress in recent years, with improvements and expansions to our delivery model and significant growth in our staff team. In Spring 2026, we will launch our refreshed organisational strategy, which will shape our work over the next three years and beyond. To support this growth, we are recruiting for a full time National Director of Operations to lead our delivery across England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and emerging community settings, with an ambition to reach Scotland. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in scaling our impact and strengthening our presence across the criminal justice system and beyond.

As National Director of Operations, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for our learning programmes in prisons and community settings. You will ensure high‑quality, consistent and accessible delivery, overseeing a team of six Regional Managers and a wider workforce of around 65 staff, volunteers and over 2,000 peer mentors trained each year.

Working closely with senior colleagues, partner organisations and national bodies such as HMPPS, you will drive programme excellence, innovation and partnership working. You will also play a key role in new business development, operational strategy, contractual delivery and ensuring we can reliably demonstrate the impact of our work.

The role requires an experienced operational leader with a deep commitment to improving outcomes for people facing disadvantage. You will bring:

• Senior leadership experience in a complex, multi‑site environment.
• A track record of delivering large-scale programmes and leading distributed teams.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem‑solving and relationship‑building skills.
• Experience working with statutory bodies or large public-sector partners (e.g. HMPPS).

About the role:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Officer will play a key role in coordinating core operational and HR processes across the organisation. • Act as a first point of contact for operational queries via PLH’s central inbox, exercising judgement in responding to requests, signposting information, and escalating issues where appropriate.

Travel, Expenses & Events

Mines Advisory Group (MAG) is seeking an experienced reward consultant or consultancy team to support a comprehensive review and redesign of its UK contracted reward framework.

Overview

MAG is undertaking a strategic review of its UK contracted reward framework to ensure it remains fit for purpose, aligned with organisational priorities, and able to support the attraction, retention and development of key talent.

MAG has committed to a more comprehensive review in 2026. This assignment will provide external expertise to support diagnostic analysis, design of a revised framework, and development of practical, implementable recommendations.

Purpose of the assignment

The purpose of this consultancy is to review and redesign key elements of MAG’s UK contracted reward framework so that it is fair, transparent, market aware, operationally effective and financially sustainable.

The assignment will combine technical analysis, stakeholder engagement, options development and implementation planning.

Scope of work

The review will focus on UK contracted staff and will include:

• Review of reward policy and principles to assess alignment with organisational needs and future direction
• Assessment of current job family structure, grading architecture and overall framework design
• Review of job evaluation methodology, including clarity, consistency and practical application
• Analysis of salary structures, progression approaches and incremental models
• Review of allowances and modular reward elements, with recommendations for simplification and alignment
• Development of practical design options with clear recommendations and rationale
• Indicative cost modelling and affordability analysis
• Development of a high level implementation and transition roadmap

The consultant will engage with key internal stakeholders and provide advice that is grounded in relevant market practice while being appropriate for an international humanitarian organisation.

Part-Time Finance Manager (22.5 hours per week) – £25,062.60 pa (FTE £41,771) -  Salford – Hybrid

Our client is a dedicated charity based in Salford and are looking to expand their finance team by recruiting to the new post of Finance Manager. The postholder will lead the finance function, ensuring that robust financial systems, processes and controls are in place to safeguard the organisation and enable informed decision-making.

They will provide high-quality financial insight, maintain the integrity of financial information, and oversee the delivery of accurate and compliant financial operations—including payroll, management reporting and audit preparation.

The Role :

• Produce accurate and timely quarterly management accounts, including all supporting schedules and reconciliations.

The Role

Join NCVO as a Credit Controller and play a key role in maintaining financial stability and cash flow by managing outstanding debt, assessing credit risk and ensuring timely payments, while supporting accurate financial reporting, reconciling accounts, resolving queries, and working closely with customers, budget holders and project managers to maintain strong relationships and up-to-date records across systems such as CRM and Business Central.
