About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take operational and administrative responsibility for a small, ambitious charity. You will run governance, compliance, contract management, finance liaison, data protection, safeguarding, HR, grant administration, and media and digital maintenance. You will work directly with the Chair.

This is a KEY gatekeeper role for someone who can steady the executive arm in response to the Board's strategic direction, concentrating on rigorous enforcement and maintenance.

Job Purpose

Sequence ME & Long Covid is one of the most ambitious whole-genome sequencing studies ever undertaken into ME and Long Covid, co-led by Action for ME. Building on the success of DecodeME, this proposed £20 million study will use large-scale, long-read whole-genome sequencing to analyse the entire genetic code of 9,000 people with ME and 9,000 people with Long Covid - making it the world's largest 'long-read' whole-genome sequencing study of any disease.

Current funding supports project mobilisation, partnership development, and the development of the Long Covid arm of the study, including agreeing case definitions and gathering expressions of interest from people with Long Covid. Phase 2 has recently been confirmed, backed by £4.75m from the UK government and a further £174,414 from the WE&ME Foundation, and will focus on sequencing 6,000 ME/CFS samples previously collected through DecodeME using Oxford Nanopore's long-read sequencing technology, running alongside Phase 1.

You will play a pivotal role supporting the Sequence ME & Long Covid project in several different ways. Working closely with the project's management team and other team members, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of this landmark study, providing administrative support to the various people and partners involved in delivering it.

As a self-starter, you will manage a range of tasks including meeting scheduling, taking meeting minutes, preparing governance documents, event administration, and broader project support - no two days will be the same.

You will need to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times, particularly when supporting governance meetings and handling sensitive project documentation.

As a team player, you will provide comprehensive, confidential and organised administrative support, developing a deep understanding of the project and building strong, effective working relationships with colleagues, researchers and external partners.

Remote working at home can be challenging for some and works incredibly well for others. You will need to be able to work independently, use your own initiative, and remain proactive in maintaining good levels of communication with colleagues.

Key Duties

• Help monitor inboxes and respond to routine project enquiries in a timely and sensitive manner, escalating more complex matters as appropriate

The salary band for this role is £40,000 - £46,000 per annum, dependant on relevant skills and experience.

The Woodland Trust is looking for an Operations Officer - Wildlife. This role will work collaboratively with colleagues across a number of teams, particularly in Operations and Nature Recovery, to advise and help deliver our plans to reduce adverse herbivore impacts (with an initial focus on deer populations) and make meaningful and lasting improvements to the woodland ecological condition of our estate. 

This role is based within the North and covers from the Northern Forest up, including Scotland and Northern Ireland. 

A company vehicle will be provided for this role. This role requires a 4x4, which is a benefit in kind that is taxed at £300pcm. Alternatively, there is the option to opt out of having a company vehicle should you have a suitable vehicle of your own. The Role:

• Provide expert advice, guidance and training to operational teams, ensuring delivery of evidence-led wildlife management interventions.

Then join Shelter as Senior Fundraising Campaign Manager and lead the delivery of our flagship integrated fundraising campaign, the Winter Appeal.

About the role

As Senior Fundraising Campaign Manager, you will lead the planning and delivery of Shelter’s 2026 Winter Appeal — our largest integrated fundraising campaign and a vital contributor to the organisation’s financial sustainability.

Working across Income Generation and with teams throughout Shelter and Shelter Scotland, you will bring together fundraising, media, marketing, digital, creative, campaigns, services and retail activity to maximise income, supporter acquisition and longer-term value.

Alongside delivering the 2026 appeal against ambitious targets, you will work with the Head of Planning and Project Management to develop a multi-year Winter Appeal strategy. You will ensure future campaigns are supported by strong governance, clear milestones and robust plans that align with Shelter’s Income Generation strategy.

This is a contracted role from August 2026 to April 2027. The role offers flexible and home-working options, with travel to London required.

Role specifics

We’re looking for an experienced campaign leader who can confidently matrix manage a complex, cross-organisational project team and keep delivery progressing against agreed timelines, budgets and objectives.

You will oversee campaign governance, coordinate activity across multiple workstreams and ensure that marketing plans, media activity and creative content are fully aligned with the campaign’s audiences and objectives.

You will identify opportunities, anticipate challenges and ensure risks or barriers are understood, escalated and resolved at the earliest opportunity. You will also own key project documentation, including campaign plans, governance arrangements, risk registers and stakeholder reports.

As part of the role, you will line manage a Senior Project Management Executive, supporting their work across content development, creative delivery and performance reporting. Following the campaign, you will lead a full evaluation and establish clear, timebound improvement actions to strengthen future Winter Appeals.

You may also support other organisational campaigns, acting as a fundraising representative and ensuring income generation is embedded within their development and delivery.

This role sits within Fundraising Enablement in Shelter’s Income Generation Directorate and reports to the Head of Planning and Project Management.

Fundraising Enablement provides direction, structure and specialist support to colleagues across the organisation, helping to deliver Shelter’s Income Generation strategic plan. Through expertise in planning, project management, innovation and fundraising compliance, the function enables teams to achieve their income-generating goals and supports an organisation-wide culture in which fundraising can thrive.
