Role Summary

In 2020/21, the Careers & Enterprise Company appointed its first ever Youth Board Member to the strategic board of directors, to give young people a decision-making voice. The CEC subsequently established a national Youth Advisory Group, to establish and embed an organisation wide approach to capturing Youth Voice, both for the purpose of driving impact and measuring the value of our work. This work has already had a huge impact on the company, and we are looking to embed Youth Voice still further into our work at a more strategic level.

The Youth Advisory Group has three primary functions across The Careers & Enterprise Company, to:

• Govern: challenge CEC’s work to consider youth voice
• Enrich: focus on the future of CEC's strategic direction
• Advise: mobilising their voice in key projects and priorities

The Careers & Enterprise Company is seeking to recruit an 18-month fixed term Youth Engagement Officer to support the administration, facilitation and delivery of youth engagement and participation across our organisation. The role will sit within the Education Development Team and work closely with our Youth Advisory Group and Youth Board members. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to champion youth voice and deliver high quality youth participation activities.

This new role has an exciting remit to develop practice, to innovate in youth voice practice, to lead on the operational delivery of the Youth Advisory Group and support with the strategic direction of this work. Reporting directly to the Education Manager responsible for youth voice, but also working effectively across the directorate and across the company, you will manage the delivery of various aspects of our operations including, but not limited to:

1. Effective project management – to ensure that CEC’s YAG has the greatest impact possible, you will work with colleagues from across the business, including at times the Careers Hub Network and put in place the right tools and processes for effective delivery of all elements of the youth voice. This may include establishing and managing relationships across teams, efficient reporting procedures and may extend to other areas of CEC’s ever evolving programme of work.
2. Innovate and design – CEC’s work, and the careers education landscape, is continually evolving. Responding to changing needs of the company, skills of the YAG members and proactively planning for project pivots, will be essential to success in this role. You will look for creative ways to strengthen youth voice across the company.

The Youth Engagement Officer will support the ongoing delivery of our Youth Advisory Group to ensure that young people bring their lived experience to meaningfully and authentically shape our work: from shaping our priorities and projects, through to supporting us to guide policy makers.

Finance Apprentice

Contract: 3 Years Fixed Term Apprenticeship Contract, Full time,

This position sits within the UK Finance team based in London. We manage the day to day finance transactions for the UK and support its budget holders to deliver their plans.
The Management Accounting team is responsible for providing robust reporting and analysis across the organisation, to ensure that WaterAid UK makes effective financial decisions and long-term plans aligned with the 10-year strategy.

About the Role:
We are offering a unique opportunity for motivated and analytical individual to join WaterAid as a Finance Apprentice, joining a cohort of other apprentices across WaterAid. Our rotational 3-year scheme will offer applicant training and development across various finance aspects across both management and financial accounting within the UK and Internationally. You will rotate between a role in the UK Management Accounting Team and International Financial Accounting Team. With mentoring and coaching from your line manager and WaterAid, you will pursue a chartered accountancy qualification (ACCA or CIMA) and begin a financial career in the Not-for-Profit sector.

This is a great opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career or looking for a career change. You will also have an opportunity to shadow other teams within WaterAid to complement your studies and interests.
The duration of the apprenticeship training is 36 months, however where a learner has exemptions, the duration of the course can be reduced accordingly. Approximately 80% of your time will be on-the-job training whilst 20% of your time will be spent working for your professional qualification.

You'll also:
The role will work with the WaterAid UK finance team, providing development opportunities through exposure to more senior stakeholders, participation in strategic project work and by gaining experience of WaterAid's work. In line with the learning and training programme, additional responsibilities include:

• Performing activities, as detailed in the scope and dimensions below, to the highest standard of accuracy and within agreed timescales to ensure the efficient and effective processing of finance information.
• Contributing to the development and improvement of processes and procedures, as tasks are undertaken and suggesting effective solutions to issues as they arise.
• Handling journal entries in the accounting system, developing your knowledge of basic double-entry accounting and different types of transactions.
• You will be expected to undertake and successfully progress through the chartered accountancy qualification (ACCA or CIMA) course and exams. 20% off the job study time will be allocated accordingly to enable the study element to take place
• With training, completing assurance reviews of the financial controls in Country Programmes, identifying key risks, and taking actions to support their resolution.
• Participating in grant audits including the US Government Grants audit, as well as ensuring any significant findings are addressed.
• Following up on internal audit findings to support Country Programme finance teams with their actions to address these.
• Assisting in the technical preparation of budgets and providing guidance to budget holders, facilitating efficient budget management and analysis.

About You:

• Degree level education. Please ensure your CV clearly lists your degree.
• Grade B or above in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

Project Manager

Salary: £39,228 p.a.  FTE

(pro-rata salary dependent on hours worked)

The Head of Programmes is a wide-ranging and key role within the Smallwood Trust’s leadership structure working closely with the CEO, the Grants Team and the Board.

Important priorities for the Head of Programmes will include:

Working closely with the CEO to implement and operationalise Smallwood’s refreshed grant-making strategy which is due to be approved by the end of 2024. This will include budgeting and implementing/designing new grant processes and procedures where appropriate.

Shape and deliver an evaluation framework that enables us to more effectively track progress against our longer-term outcomes as identified in our theory of change and gender-lens framework.

Instill a learning and continuous improvement culture across the organisation, to ensure that a coherent approach is taken with our grants programmes and our funding meets the needs of our Grant Partners.

The role requires an established leader who is adept at demonstrating internal and external leadership and is able to provide robust grant management, ensuring programme quality and assurance to the CEO, the Board and major external funders.

The role will have 7 direct reports. You will be comfortable in the detail and bigger picture and be able to provide support and encouragement to the Grants Team across Smallwood’s grant and programme cycles and to ensure that best practice and learning from our grant programmes is shared externally and adopted internally.

The role 

We are looking for passionate and adaptable Sessional Inclusion Workers to join our Activities for All service in Leeds.

You will offer short-term, one to one support to disabled children encouraging their inclusion in mainstream play and leisure activities.

 As a part of the role you will encourage universal play and leisure activities to be inclusive of all children.

Working hours will tend to be after-school and evenings during the week and weekends.

The hours are flexible and can fit around studies or another job. 

About you

Essential:

• You will have experience of inclusion work with children and young people with additional needs in play and leisure settings
• Be able to show a knowledge of inclusion policies and procedures
• Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Be able to work on your own initiative as well as following set procedures and working with others
• Have strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
• Be able to travel across Leeds

Desirable:

• A positive approach to the inclusion of all children and young people in play and leisure settings

The service forms part of Hywel Dda University Health Board’s mental health plan. The service aims to provide low-level support, for mild to moderate mental health and well-being issues, diverting demand away from primary and secondary health care services.

This service will require an agile and flexible approach, utilising both regulated and unregulated in-home service providers. An understanding of the mental health and well-being issues affecting older people is desirable as is attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.

Relationship management

Church Community

We are Laurelle Brown Training and Consultancy (LBTC), an independent consultancy founded in 2017, as a response to the persistent challenges and discrimination faced by racialised children across the services and support systems they rely on. We break it up into 3 stages:

The Membership officer will play a key role in ensuring a smooth and successful membership journey for FSC members. This role will be responsible for the oversight and coordination of member activities and events. The role will also contribute to a culture of continual learning through gathering and analysing member feedback and implementing changes as part of FSC’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework.
