We have an exciting opportunity as a PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) Practitioner on an initial nine-month fixed-term maternity cover, within the Integrated Services team that comprises of a dynamic team of occupational therapists, PBS practitioners and speech and language therapists, working in our education settings.
As a PBS Practitioner, you will be passionate about improving the quality of life of autistic children and young people, working with the transdisciplinary team to improve outcomes for children and young people. You will achieve this through providing high quality PBS advice and support across the tiers of support (universal, targeted and specialist). You will play a key role in supporting class teams to create enabling environments and reducing behaviour-based barriers to learning. You will conduct risk assessments of challenging behaviour and devise and implement PBS plans, providing coaching and support to class teams to optimise fidelity.
We are looking for and individual who:
- Have or working towards a level 4 PBS qualification (or relevant alternative)
- Skillful in the use of functional assessment and intervention
- Communicates complex and sensitive information in a manner appropriate to the individual and situation

Technical operational MEL
- Deep expertise in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) methodologies, frameworks, and global best practices.
- Advanced skills in results-based MEL design, including theory of change, indicator development, baseline assessments, impact measurement, and logframe development.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, with experience extracting insights from large datasets (e.g., DHS, PMA), and translating findings into actionable recommendations for diverse audiences.

About the role
We organise our Policy & Ideas work around the following issue areas: families, work and care; housing, land and climate; community, place and social security; and macroeconomics and fiscal policy. This role will have a focus on either macroeconomics or fiscal policy, or both, whole also working to support out other policy themes. We want our work to confront the immediate manifestations of poverty and insecurity but also the deeper social and economic conditions on which these rest.

We are seeking two Senior Economists, one full-time permanent role and one 12-month fixed term role, which could be either full-time or part-time. In both roles, we are looking for someone to develop and lead research projects that generate arguments, policies and ideas to address the social and economic challenges that underpin poverty and household economic insecurity in the UK today and chart a course to a different and better future.
You will devise, lead and deliver high quality economic analysis and thinking to JRF’s policy & ideas work and offer a professional economics perspective across the wider organisation – and as a trusted, expert voice externally. You will seek out and connect with people or organisations developing new ideas and strategies that can contribute to our mission; and to develop proposals for how JRF should use its platform and resources to support their development and diffusion.
About you
As a Senior Economist, we would like you to either have a professional economics training or equivalent professional work experience, advanced data analysis skills and the ability to use a wide range of tools and software to undertake large scale and groundbreaking economic analysis (including using micro-data from major national surveys).
With experience of working on policy issues relating to poverty, you will have significant experience of having initiated, designed, led and delivered projects that included original economic analysis that generated a different or better understanding of policy challenges and helped to guide new arguments and ideas. You will be able to think critically and creatively, analyse and problem solve, and contribute to the generation of new ideas and alternative ways of approaching an issue, able to communicate arguments and ideas persuasively, via writing and speaking.
You will have advanced knowledge and critical awareness of economic theory, principles, datasets and analytical techniques and how to deploy these effectively in support of understanding and addressing the drivers of household economic insecurity. With significant knowledge of one or both of macroeconomics or UK fiscal policy and a strong understanding of how policy making works across the UK, devolved and sub-national governments, you will have an awareness and engagement with relevant political, policy and intellectual debates, plus models and approaches to social change.

South London Citizens
South London Citizens (SLC) is Citizen’s UK second oldest chapter, established in 2004. SLC has over 100 member institutions spread across seven south London boroughs, working together for the common good.
South London Citizens has developed 1000s of local leaders through training and action teams and won big national campaigns, for example delivering free school meals for children whose parents have no recourse to public funds.
The Living Wage campaign is part of SLC’s DNA and in the last 12 months a campaign to bring the Living Wage Campaign to the Southbank has delivered well over 1000 pay rises to south London workers. The Real Living Wage is currently £13.85 in London, compared with the National Minium Wage of £12.21 (for workers aged over 21).
Community Organising
Through our theory of social change, called community organising, we train thousands of everyday people to lead change in their communities, equipping them with the skills to hold politicians and other powerholders to account. We are made up of 500+ member organisations in powerful alliances throughout the UK. Our members include schools, universities, faith groups, parents’ groups, health practices, charities, trade unions and other civil society organisations.
Purpose
The principal responsibility of an Associate Organiser is their own development: learning the craft of Community Organising under the guidance of an experienced Community Organiser. They work intensively with a small number of member organisations under close supervision, growing their experience, skill and responsibility incrementally. An Associate Organiser is working towards becoming a competent practitioner of the craft of broad-based community organising methodology, and focuses on the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change.
This role is particularly to organise around the issue of low pay and precarious work and participate in Citizens UK’s flagship campaign, the Living Wage Campaign. We need someone who can speak Spanish as well as English, as south London’s Latin American communities are leading the work in South London. There is scope to involve leaders in campaigns around housing, health and migrants' rights, as we recognise that people affected by low pay are very often determined to take action on wider issues beyond work. The purpose of the role is to develop leadership, especially grassroots leadership, workers from London’s lowest paid sectors, that can power the campaign. Crucially the Associate Organiser will work with colleagues in South London Citizens to build and execute a strategy that develops powerful leaders for South London Citizens and wins the Living Wage, Living Hours and other material gains for thousands of workers across the capital.
Main Responsibilities
Working as an Associate Organiser in South London for Citizens UK, reporting to the Lead Organiser, South West, SLC, your main responsibilities will include:
Build relational power to further the goals of CUK

Actively participate in the development of a comprehensive power analysis appropriate to the desired sphere of influence for each project/assignment

Our Organisers and some project teams work closely with our member institutions and will be expected to attend member events that take place in the evenings and occasional weekends. You will have strong relationship building skills with major donors and individual supporters, able to align their giving needs with Population Matters’ work. - Contribute to new initiatives with British Gas and grant giving programmes.
· Support the effective management of the Trust’s grant programmes across England, Scotland and Wales, including:
- Build & manage positive relationships with the grant assessment team and British Gas internal teams.
- Providing appropriate support to ensure the direct grant programme runs efficiently and effectively, with grant funding distributed to budget and schedule.
- Undertaking both face to face and virtual monitoring visits of the helpline and application portal and assessment teams – including ongoing KPI and impact evaluation process, creating comprehensive follow-up reports including end of grant reports.
Reporting & Contract Management:
- Ensure all data collection aligned to current Data Protection regulations and use and storage of data is in line with the Trust’s own policies and provide reassurance to the Head of Services.

Reporting & Contract Management:
- Identify risks to delivery and work with the grant administrator to help resolve any challenges with delivery that impact on the grant obligations.
- To work with internal and external monitoring and evaluation specialists, to gain impact and understanding of the effect of our funding schemes.
Knowledge Sharing
- Identify and develop opportunities to work collaboratively and share learning.
- Ensure case studies and other content is collated from grant recipients to share through our channels.
