Who we are seeking
We are seeking an ambitious and strategic Fundraising Manager. This is a hands-on role for an experienced fundraiser who enjoys writing high-quality grant applications and building strong relationships with supporters. The Trustees of John Wesley’s New Room seek an Executive Director to lead the organisation into the next exciting phase of its development. John Wesley’s New Room is the oldest Methodist building in the world (Grade I listed) and is a small but busy place where no two days are the same. An important piece of Bristol’s history, the New Room is where Methodism started and the museum and collection tell the story of John Wesley. The Relationship Giving Manager plays a leading and hands on role in designing and implementing the supporter acquisition, retention and development plans. Focusing on growing reach, engagement and ultimately income across Individual Giving, Legacy and In Memory activity.

Background
The Democratic Progress Institute (DPI) is an independent non-governmental organisation established in consultation with international experts in conflict resolution and democratic advancement. DPI seeks to promote peace and democracy building through strengthened public dialogue and engagement.
The Project Officer will implement programme and project activities while also providing strategy and administrative support to the CEO, helping to coordinate organisational priorities and key initiatives.

Project implementation

Senior Major Gifts Manager
Permanent, full time, 35 hours per week (flexible arrangements open to discussion)
Work from anywhere in the UK (regular travel and London meetings required)
£50,000 - £55,000 per annum
As Senior Major Gifts Manager, you'll help deliver a step-change in philanthropy by providing strategic development and hands-on leadership of a major donor portfolio, securing high five-figure and six-figure gifts, and building new deep, long-term donor relationships that power the Major Appeal. This role is not about inheriting a fully "finished" programme. This is an opportunity for someone who can roll up their sleeves in a period of change: strengthening best practice, helping embed effective ways of working, and supporting a team (three direct reports) to thrive while key systems, processes and methodologies continue to develop.
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in major donor fundraising, with a strong track record of personally securing significant gifts at high five and/or six figure level from individuals. You'll be a confident, supportive line manager, comfortable navigating key stakeholders internally and externally and evolving ways of working.

This Fundraising Lead role (Maternity Cover) is central to our strategy - designed to secure sustainable income through community engagement, partnerships, and bold, values-aligned funding. You’ll lead the development and delivery of an ambitious fundraising strategy that aims to grow income to £400,000+ per year - supporting both WSUP’s immediate needs and long-term growth. Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & income generation
· Trusts & grants: Research, write, and submit compelling funding applications to trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies to secure new and repeat funding.
· Corporate & individual giving: Work alongside Service Delivery Manager and Deputy Service Manager to develop relationships with corporate sponsors and individual donors, creating engagement opportunities.
· Donor stewardship: Manage and nurture relationships with funders, ensuring timely reporting and impact updates.
· Donor stewardship: Provide timely and effective follow-up communications with supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.
· Fundraising strategy: Support the development and implementation of WSUP’s fundraising strategy, identifying new opportunities for income growth.
· Event fundraising: Assist in planning and delivering fundraising events to engage supporters and raise unrestricted funds
· Financial oversight: Work with the CEO to develop fundraising budgets and ensure accurate income tracking.
· Financial oversight: Process cash and cheque donations for Community & Events income, including ensuring this income is processed and recorded accurately on our database which may include batch uploads.
· Campaigns & appeals: Develop and implement online fundraising campaigns, such as Winter Appeal or emergency appeals.
· Storytelling & impact reporting: Work with Communication Lead to share real-life stories that showcase WSUP’s work.
Person Specification
Essential skills & experience
· Fundraising knowledge: Understanding of trust, foundation, and corporate fundraising, with proven experience of writing successful grant applications.
· Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports.
· Relationship management: Ability to build relationships with funders, donors, and stakeholders at various levels.
· Organisational skills: Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· IT proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), databases, AI tools and social media scheduling tools.
· Financial literacy: Ability to create fundraising budgets and financial reports.
· Compliance: Knowledge of fundraising legislation, including Gift Aid and GDPR compliance.
Desirable skills & experience
· Experience in a small charity setting, ideally within the homelessness or health-related sector, understanding the challenges and opportunities of grassroots fundraising.

· Proven ability to use videos and infographics to enhance fundraising campaigns.
· Social media: Experience using social media for fundraising and engagement, with an understanding of digital marketing principles.
