We’re looking for an enthusiastic and driven Community Fundraiser to join our Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Team. This is a hands-on, varied and relationship-led role where you’ll build meaningful connections, deliver engaging fundraising initiatives.

About the role

Reporting to the Events and Engagement Manager, you’ll coordinate and deliver a range of community fundraising initiatives that contribute directly to Big C’s income targets.

A key focus of this role is responsibility for developing and growing our Regular Giving and Legacies income streams. You’ll nurture supporter relationships, promoting long-term giving and legacy pledge opportunities to help ensure these vital areas of income continue to grow.

Alongside this, engage with local groups and organisations helping to deliver activities that inspire individuals and communities to get involved. You’ll act as a visible ambassador for Big C, representing the charity at events and cheque presentations. This is a proactive role that combines relationship-building, income generation and coordination — ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the community while keeping everything organised behind the scenes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and deliver community fundraising initiatives that directly contribute to agreed income targets
• Take ownership of Big C’s Regular Giving and Legacies fundraising activity, driving engagement and income growth
• Build and maintain strong relationships with supporters, local organisations and community groups
• Identify new fundraising opportunities and support the development of agreed campaigns and activities
• Provide tailored support to third-party fundraisers to help maximise their fundraising potential

What you’ll do

Joining our small, high-energy team, you’ll play a key role growing our newest partner base and supporting primary school partners to make the most of the Unifrog platform and resources. Excellent customer service is at the heart of what we do, and you’ll make sure that all interactions with Unifrog are positive and successful. 

Your key responsibilities:

Sell Unifrog subscriptions to primary schools

• Design and deliver impactful prospecting campaigns and marketing collateral aimed at engaging potential new partners, tracking campaign performance and continually improving your approach to secure demonstrations and drive partnership growth.

• Meet with potential partners on video calls (and sometimes in-person). Understand their priorities, demonstrate the Unifrog platform and resources, and secure their subscription.

• Identify and attend conferences and events to promote Unifrog to primary school audiences, while networking and cultivating relationships for future partnership opportunities.

• Develop a sound awareness of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) and the PSHE Association Framework within the UK. You’ll need this to confidently navigate conversations with relevant contacts at primary schools.

Support primary school partners to make the most of Unifrog

• Set up new partner schools for success. Help them to embed Unifrog across their staff, student and parent community. You’ll deliver an initial staff training session then provide ad-hoc support.

• Proactively work to foster a sense of community amongst our primary school partners and think of ways to promote the sharing and embedding of Unifrog best practice between partners.

• Achieve sky-high resubscription rates by securing partner renewals when their subscriptions come to an end.

Fundraising Marketing Manager

Fixed Term Contract to Cover Maternity Until January 2027

Purpose of Role

At Comic Relief, we harness the power of entertainment and pop culture to create a just world free from poverty. And, as our Fundraising Marketing Manager, you’ll contribute to this by developing brilliant marketing strategies and fundraising toolkits for multiple fundraising campaigns.

You’ll identify ways in which we can use powerful stories and integrate our content and communications to maximize impact across difference audiences. You’ll also lead on awareness generating activity to fill the top of the funnel, and ultimately leading supporters to donations and other activations. You’ll balance data and creativity in equal measure; you’ll think strategically, act tactically and you’ll be a natural collaborator, informing and delivery to ultimately drive joyful generosity.

Key responsibilities:

Manage the development of marketing plans to support fundraising campaign strategies and objectives that support fundraising income generation.  This may include for example working with internal and/ or external teams to create:

o Creative campaign propositions/ strategic approaches to fundraising campaigns

o Look and feel guidance

o Campaign Proposition Guidance (Songsheet), including headline messaging approaches Hero campaign assets such as advertising asset concepts or marketing photography shoots.

o Developing money buys and identifying suitable stories to enable and facilite powerful impact led storytelling.

· Work with the Senior Fundraising Marketing Manager to develop campaign and marketing activity briefs for delivery teams and external agencies.

· Specify how marketing activities for campaigns will contribute to, and help achieve, fundraising goals. Specify key channels and tactics to consider for driving awareness and moving audiences through stages of engagement towards conversion and ultimately donating, whilst also ensuring CR comms content/ activity is consistent, strategically aligned and focussed. 

Work with digital fundraising experts (for example in paid media) and delivery experts (for example in content production or third parties) to implement the agreed plan and ensure that it activity is aligned and integrated.  This may include

o The management of BBC Marketing Campaigns with BBC Marketing and BBC Creative

o Day to day management of campaign creative agencies.

o Working with internal or external creatives on delivering top of the funnel assets for paid media and other channels.

· Working with the corporate partnerships and new business teams to introduce creative campaign propositions to new and existing corporate partners with the goal of achieving wider integration and alignment across campaigns to achieve enhanced conversion and income generation.

· Overseeing the communications calendar and supporting integration and alignment of communications

· Playing an active part in the success of our fundraising and engagement strategy by contributing to the development of team wide annual plans and budgets, using learnings and insight to make recommendations to facilitate growth

· Proactively participating in and leading aspects of wider team planning activities.

· Keeping abreast of the fundraising marketplace and wider legislative and regulatory landscape to ensure Comic Relief’s fundraising campaigns and activities are compliant

· Playing an active role in the Fundraising Team championing inclusivity and diversity in order to drive high performance and an action-oriented culture

· Undertaking and managing ad-hoc duties as needed, ensuring alignment with the scope and responsibilities of the role

· This role may develop to include line management responsibilities and duties as the portfolio expands in the future. Postholders may be expected to take on line management responsibilities when required.

Person specification

Essential criteria

Strategic marketing planning:

o Knowledge of fundraising campaigns, fundraising tactics, and fundraising channels, especially digital channels.

o Experience of planning marketing activity or projects for campaigns that drive audiences to take action (creative, headline messaging, hero assets etc.)

o Experience of marketing/fundraising planning and tracking, including setting and monitoring performance KPIs and metrics across online and offline channels.

o Ability to analyse complex data to identify actionable insight to produce clear plans, briefs and effective marketing plans

Thousands of older people living in care homes receive few or no visitors. Friends for Life Bedford exists to change that.

Through our befriending and group activities, we bring companionship, connection and meaningful relationships to care home residents across Bedfordshire.

We are now looking for a Marketing, Partnerships, & Activities Lead to help more people discover, support and get involved in our work.

About Friends for Life Bedfordshire

We are a Bedford-based charity working to address the social isolation of older residents in Bedfordshire’s care homes.

Founded in 2007, we have grown from a small local initiative to a registered charity with c90 volunteers supporting more than 30 care homes across Bedford Borough. In the last year, over 1,100 care home residents received our services.

The Role

You will help more people discover, support and engage with Friends for Life Bedfordshire.

This is a hands-on role focused on telling our story, strengthening our digital presence and developing partnerships with organisations across the local community.

We are  a small organisation, so you will have the opportunity to shape how we communicate our work and develop partnerships while working closely with other members of our small team.

This is a flexible part-time role (15 hours per week) suited to someone who enjoys creative marketing, community engagement and building meaningful relationships.

• Charter & Membership Growth. You will design and execute strategies to significantly grow the number of companies who are signatories to the Workforce Digital Skills Charter and / or FutureDotNow members, alongside strategies that retain and engage the existing community.

• Membership management. You’ll own and manage the membership pipeline end-to-end, from inbound interest through to conversion, onboarding and retention. You will drive self-service into our processes so it’s easy for organisations to see the value and sign up as members and charter signatories, minimising the need for calls and meetings. For some organisations that extra bit of hand holding to get them over the line will be necessary and, in these circumstances, you’ll act as the front face of FutureDotNow.

• Member Value Proposition. You will shape and refine our value proposition to members, bringing the features and benefits to life in new and compelling ways that talk to the needs of business in their language. Effectively, you’ll be responsible for ‘productising’ our bank of reports and other resources into tools and solutions and identifying value that may have been overlooked. • Members Area. You will lead the strategy and delivery of our Members’ Area on the FutureDotNow website, defining the information architecture and content governance. You’ll use WordPress to add new content and keep existing content up-to-date and relevant. You’ll work closely with our Communications and Campaigns Manager to improve both the UX and value offer of the Member’s Area on our website, working with a third-party web development agency when required. 

• Digital Strategies & Campaigns. You will be responsible for setting digital strategies to engage existing members and grow the pipeline of new members and Charter signatories. You’ll create and deliver digital content and campaigns (website, social, email etc.) that drive membership engagement and growth, working with our Communications and Campaigns Manager. 

• Partner Engagement & Storytelling. You will establish efficient ways to engage with partner businesses and key stakeholders. You will work closely with our Communications and Campaigns Manager to create and deliver content that showcases what works and raises the profile of members, including case studies and other compelling content. 

• Data, Insight & CRM. You’ll own our CRM (HubSpot). You’ll use our CRM data, website analytics and member feedback to manage and enhance our value proposition, track engagement, segment the audience, and drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities

General management

· Ensure the Reserve Centre is managed appropriately to achieve exceptional standards, demonstrating best practice to maximise conservation benefits, in line with work taking place on the reserve. 

· Lead the management of internal and external relationships of the Trust effectively, including Volunteers, NRW, G24, Land Agent and Solicitors.

· Ensure all aspects of the Centre and Reserve are managed within the agreed service levels and both internal and external measures.

· Ensure contracts are managed in a timely manner including utilities and insurance, with the Contract Clerk, providing the Trust with cost effective and suitable solutions.

· Demonstrate professional acumen, together with the motivation, creativity, initiative, and leadership skills to support the conservation team and overall strategy of the Trust.

· Coordinate the management of day-to-day operations in accordance with the agreed management plans, providing regular updates and reports to the Trustees.

· Undertake public engagement activities to build on the support of visitors and local communities.

· Make informed and balanced decisions, whilst taking a proactive approach to problem solving and seeing tasks and challenges through to successful completion.

· Promote the use of the Centre and the Reserve to local residents and communities.

Staff management

· Lead the Reserve management team, providing leadership, management and support to colleagues as required. Currently 3 members of staff and volunteers

· Carry out regular 121’s and performance reviews with all staff providing feedback on performance and implement HR processes as and when required.

· Set annual objectives for staff, and monitor performance against objectives.

· Regularly review and update staff policies, ensuring clear communication to all and adherence.

Marketing

· Work with the mangers, staff and Trustees creating effective, inspiring posts on social media, writing articles for our webpages and writing press releases.

· Review opportunities to increase visibility of the work being carried out by the Trust, maximising public awareness of the Reserve.

Risk & Compliance

· Manage the compliance and risk management relating to facilities management for the centre.

· Overall administration of Health and Safety, CDM regulations, Emergency Procedures, Fire and Security procedures and legislation. Ensuring all legislation is adhered to.

· Ensuring the centre meets the cleaning schedule standards.

· Ensure relevant risk assessments are carried out and logged for any event or work carried out in the centre or on the land.

Business Budget management

· Compile the business accounts and reconciliation in preparation for the accountant.

· Day to day management of the income and outgoings of the Trust.

· Provide regular financial updates to the Trustees.

· Ensuring staff adhere to our expenses policy.

Charity Commission

· Ensuring all Accounting and Charity Commission deadlines are met for key updates.

· Work with the Trust Clerk to ensure all meeting minutes are produced and shared in a timely manner, with all actions completed within given deadlines.

Location: Hybrid working - Part London office-based (E14) and part home working. The post holder will work a minimum of one day a week in the office. 

Salary: £43,425 per annum
