Together for Mental Wellbeing are delighted to be recruiting a Lived Experience Consultant and Trainer, a brand-new and exciting position for the organisation.

This new role will form part of The Service User Leadership Team, one of our core Central Support Teams, and will report into the Head of Service User Leadership. 

The primary focus of this role is to provide bespoke consultancy and training packages to external partners, in both service user leadership and peer support, that will drive forward positive change across mental health and social care in these areas.

Through engaging in networking opportunities, alongside the Head of Service User Leadership, this role will lead on building relationships with key partners, increasing opportunities to collaborate, whilst strengthening our profile, reputation, and brand.  We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual, who has their own lived experience of mental distress, demonstrable experience in effective stakeholder engagement and working towards targets, in addition to designing, and delivering training packages.  The ideal candidate will also possess extensive expert knowledge in relation to peer support and service user leadership.   

This position is 3 days per week (22.5 hours) and is fixed term for 2 years from the commencement of employment.  The role is home based with the expectation of travel when required to attend engagement and networking events, deliver training to external partners or for attendance at meetings in Head Office.  The role will may also include occasional travel to our Together services when required.  All travel expenses will be paid.

Aggie’s is seeking a new Finance Director to join their small friendly staff team. The Finance Director will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the charity's financial framework to support and advance Aggie’s mission. As the Finance Director, you'll be a key member of the team, overseeing financial operations, managing day-to-day finances, meeting the needs of both internal and external stakeholders, and leading two team members.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

• To be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACMA, ACCA, CIPFA)
• Previous experience as a Finance Director/Manager, leadership and line-management experience and an understanding of charity accounting
• Excellent track record of budget preparation, including monthly management accounts
• A clear understanding of risks relevant to the finance environment and controls required to mitigate risks

​Main purpose of the post 

We are seeking to appoint a Business Development Coordinator to join a wider team that spearheads RUSI’s research fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director, Research Business Development, the successful candidate will enhance the institute’s business development activities by providing administrative and coordination support for business development, contracts, and risk management. Working closely with research groups, central services teams, and the senior management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that RUSI is well-placed to spot and respond to new funding opportunities and that our contracts are high-quality and executed efficiently. 

This is a highly collaborative role that involves building very strong internal relationships at all levels of the organisation and managing competing priorities and deadlines. We are seeking a team player with a pragmatic and positive attitude and excellent attention to detail, who will enjoy taking on new challenges, using your initiative to solve problems, and seeing your work directly contribute to meeting our short- and long-term goals.

​Key tasks 

Tracking, identifying, and sharing new funding opportunities:  

• Conduct research to identify potential funders and grant opportunities, populate and maintain a prospects tracker. Ensure we have an accurate and current map of relevant funders at all times to draw from.

• Manage the Business Development email inbox, ensuring we are registered to all relevant portals and that we are regularly checking funder portals that do not send notifications. Share summaries of relevant opportunities with the BD Director along with suggested dissemination plan, agree next steps and follow up with appropriate Research Groups.

• Support research colleagues to identify funders to invite to RUSI events and draft outreach emails.

Providing administrative and coordination support on bids, contracts, and new business activities: 

• Assist the Bids Manager with compiling information about RUSI as an organisation, its registrations, policies, organisational structure, banking and insurance details, financial information, and other generic details to be included in bid submissions and for due diligence. 

• Support the Bids Manager/Director of Research Business Development with administration and coordination of specific components on large bids.

Maintaining and improving business development processes and systems: 

• Ensure the business development team trackers (action log, new funding opportunities etc.) are accurate and up to date. 

• Work closely with RUSI’s Legal and Contracts and Finance teams to finalise funder contracts and ensure that final copies are saved centrally, and key information is distributed to relevant teams. Ensure that relevant and accurate funder information is tracked by the finance system for ongoing analysis. 

• Review drafts of subcontractor agreements and work closely with RUSI’s Legal and Contracts team to manage the process for preparing, securing approval, finalising, and sharing sub-contracts. 

• Act as central point of contact for the research funding pipeline, ensure it is functioning as needed and respond to ad hoc questions.

• Manage the team’s Sharepoint page, ensuring that it is useful and relevant for research colleagues, with high-quality templates and guidance.

• In coordination with colleagues on the Communications team, update RUSI’s customer relationship management (CRM) system with accurate, relevant and up-to-date funder information and develop and promote best practice for CRM usage for BD.

• Update RUSI funders on the website annually, ensuring that they are accurate and that we have appropriate permissions to acknowledge them publicly.

• Assist in preparing training materials and internal presentations, including by conducting data analysis. 

• Schedule regular catch ups with research groups, take and share notes in appropriate formats, update trackers. 

• Take accurate and useful minutes and share and follow up on action points after Business Development meetings.

• Establish strong working relationships with research teams, central service teams, and senior management.

• Assist with administrative tasks for the business development team as needed, including setting up tech (Zoom/Teams) meetings, coordinating diaries, and booking meetings.

Managing the institutional Risk Management process:  

• Be responsible for ensuring that risk registers are maintained and updated across the Institute to track risk within the organisation.

• Attend all Audit & Risk Committee meetings to update members on changes to the risk register, and take minutes for each meeting. 

• Work with the COO and Business Development team to ensure that RUSI has in place all policies and procedures across the Institute that are required by funders on various projects. 

• Assist the COO in keeping up to date with all Charity Commission guidance on charity operations and compliance.

​Essential Skills and Experience:  

• Professional experience in charity administration, business development, customer service, events management, account management or similar.

• Previous experience in grants administration or project management. 

• Basic knowledge and awareness of common requirements for bid submissions including such items as statements on duty of care, quality assurance, supply chain management, gender, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

• Experience in contract administration and completion. 

• An undergraduate degree or equivalent in business, international relations, or related field.

The Director of Programmes will contribute to The Africa Centre’s emerging strategic priorities, overseeing and delivering programmes and related project activity. They will engage and connect with diverse audiences and communities through creative programming, delivering innovative, enriching, dynamic and enjoyable events and experiences that entre people of African descent and reach the widest demographic. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategic Leadership

• Oversee, convene and deliver TAC programmes, developing live and digital content in line with our strategic priorities.
• Fulfil the leadership role of contributing to the development of The Africa Centre’s emerging strategy.
• Lead and convene programme development and content delivery, ensuring commercial, artistic, operational and audience development objectives are met for both live and digital events.

• Draw on the expertise within the team, their networks and creative content, convening an holistic programme in line with TAC’s strategic priorities, income generation priorities and brand.
• Develop and implement TAC’s Elimu Education Programme, fostering relevant relationships with educational institutes from primary to tertiary levels across the UK and beyond, and co-creating programmes of activity.
• Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of any contracted work that delivers programmes of activities in the UK and abroad,
• Lead on developing, nurturing and administering relationships with strategic partners including the TAC Global Network of Affiliate Organisations.
• Oversee the work of the Young Africa Centre.

Engagement

• Maintain existing and develop new audiences, identifying programme strands that respond to and anticipate the needs and interests of diverse communities, introducing new ideas, innovative content and inclusive talent pathways.
• Seek out, develop, and sustain networks, stakeholders and partnerships at local, regional and global levels, and explore new ways for the charity to grow and develop at the cutting edge of global ideas
• Identify opportunities to develop The Africa Centre events across the UK and digitally, to reach wider audiences and deepen brand recognition across the year.
• Identify project funding to develop audiences, increase diversity and meet equalities objectives.
• Oversee learning and engagement programmes in the UK.
• Deliver and build upon current UK funded projects and contribute to developing funding bids.
• Oversee the management of TAC’s marketing and communications functions, including our public relations, website and social media accounts, ensuring that they are updated, relevant and archived appropriately.

Impact

• Lead on development and delivery of the organisation’s strategic Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact framework and associated plans and systems
• Develop and delivering TAC’s social purpose agenda, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives.
• Oversee the development and management of TAC’s archives, be it digital, documental or physical, ensuring that they are catalogued, accessible and available for utilisation as a key resource.

Operational

• Line manage the programme, education and engagement team(s), recruiting, as necessary, skilled persons to deliver TAC programmes.
• Manage the delivery of contracts and partnership collaborative efforts, ensuring that contracting is delivered to the highest standards at all times to protect the reputation and financial standing of the charity and to meet contractor’s expectations.
• Identify potential funders relevant to area and contribute to writing business plans demonstrating a seamless relationship between content, programmes, events, audiences, and the core business activities
• Support the work of the Director of Development Team in developing and delivering the fundraising strategy and the Director of Finance & Operations on delivering TAC financial plans

Governance & Compliance

• Write reports for the board as and when required by the CEO in a timely and appropriate manner
• Work with the Director of Finance & Ops to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the charity in delegated budget area(s), adhere to TAC Financial Regulations and Procurement Policy.
• Ensure that all artist contracting is undertaken within TAC procurements and contracting policies observing all other required policies and statutory guidelines e.g., Equalities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Intellectual Property, GDPR, Finance and Procurements etc.
• Maintain accurate records on The Africa Centre’s document management system and databases.
• Respond to general enquiries by email or telephone, manage own workload and maintain an online diary, using agreed TAC systems.

Leadership

• Be a vital, collegiate member of the TAC Senior leadership team,

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

• A clearly-evidenced long-standing passion for Africa and people of African Descent
• 3 - 5 years working at a senior level in a similar role
• Excellent Programme Management experience with excellent budget management skills
• Excellent communication and networking skills, adept at effectively engaging people across a range of settings – from school children to Prime Ministers and Presidents;
• Educated to degree level of equivalent (relevant subject area)
• Team player, able to work cross disciplinary with artists, experts, academics, key stakeholders, and audiences in a programming function working with diverse audiences
• Specialist knowledge of audience development gained through 3 years’ experience
• Agile approach to work, recognising the limitations and challenges of running a small charitable organisation and willingness to work flexibly to get things done, apply effort and integrity at all times. Regular weekend and evening work will be required.
• Experience of working with an operations team to deliver events (production, tech requirements, artist management)
• Experience of delivering to funder obligations (Trusts and Foundations/Public and Private Funding) • Excellent network in publishing; cultural and creative sector; or other relevant sectors
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, et al.

Work Arrangements

Location: The Africa Centre office, London. Occasional remote working is encouraged. The post-holder will be required to be on location in London for relevant activities. Some international travel will be required.

We are seeking an experienced philanthropy professional to lead and grow our income streams from individual philanthropists, trusts, foundations, and corporates. Previous experience in a senior role in telephone fundraising, team leadership and account management will be essential. They will be a great communicator and team player, leading the Client Services team and the wider Purity team in delivering fundraising campaigns for amazing causes. You will be fully supported by the CEO and the wider Senior Leadership team. Our current Client Services Director will be working on a part time consultancy basis for a period after your start date to help ensure you have the support needed to settle into the role successfully. You will continue to develop the strong relationships we have built with our charity partners, evolving their telemarketing programmes, whilst growing and innovating to support their needs and organisation growth. The role encompasses all communication channels, working with the Digital Campaign Manager to develop digital and supporting communications.

This role is a Senior Leadership role, and we are looking for someone who has clear leadership qualities who has a passion not only for fundraising, but for ethical supporter focussed fundraising.

Within the team, the DLM will be responsible for:
• working with the Head of Ministries and Learning and in collaboration with others with regards to learning and development for all forms of authorised ministry in the Church’s life

• formal relationships between the Methodist Council and Methodist-related learning institutions.

About the role

The Finance Director (“FD”) will oversee the financial activities of the charity and will be responsible for overseeing the charity’s finances and finance team, driving financial planning and managing financial risks.

The FD will need to have the ability and confidence to apply judgement and leadership skills to make sure that the charity executes strategies and plans in a timely and thorough manner.

This is a 12-month contract starting Autumn 2024, ideally 20 hours/week, but we would consider other working patterns for the right candidate.

The permanent FD role is subject to a genuine occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian due to our ethos and the strategic nature of the role however, given the temporary nature of this appointment, we have removed the requirement, although still desirable. We instead are looking for a candidate who is sympathetic to the Christian faith and/or our ethos.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be working with a range of team leaders, including our chair of trustees, Executive Officer, Operations Director, church leaders, school principal, chair of The King’s Centre Limited, and the finance team.
