About the role
As we embark on a new ten-year strategy, this is a unique opportunity to lead the development of a radical and ambitious approach to partnerships with businesses, building on the successful partnerships we have with Lloyds Banking Group, Specsavers, Taylor Wimpey, Berkeley Homes and many more.
This pivotal role will lead the development of a corporate and commercial engagement strategy across Crisis, growing and deepening our portfolio of corporate partners, broadening their support for our organisation and our cause, and inspiring them to act within their businesses. The role also involves leading the continued development of our fundraising and partnerships outside of London, creating a national support network to end homelessness.
While the role is directly responsible for strategic and corporate partnerships, the post holder will lead across the charity, ensuring a joined-up approach across retail, service delivery (including Crisis at Christmas), brand partnerships, venture philanthropy, investments, and innovation.
The role also involves membership of the Brand, Marketing & Fundraising senior team and the organisation’s Senior Leadership Group, where it plays an important organisation-wide leadership role. Additional investment has recently been made in the team, and senior leadership and the Board have committed to supporting its success.

We’re seeking someone with significant experience developing relationships with the corporate/commercial sector and a successful track record in organisations comparable in scale and complexity to Crisis. This is a new role and a chance to make a big difference to the number of people we can reach in the local area affected by domestic and sexual abuse. Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience in researching and writing compelling funding applications and managing relationships with funders, but who also has experience of working with corporate partners of all sizes. There is some flexibility as to which income streams the successful candidate would spend the majority of their time on – depending on their experience. In an ideal world we are looking for someone to cover both equally but please don’t be put off by the job description if you have more experience in one area than the other - for us willingness to learn and transferrable skills count for a lot.
An average week might involve finding new local businesses to approach, working with internal teams to research and write grant applications, meeting with funders or corporate partners, pitching to a potential new corporate partner or going to speak to their employees about their fundraising. It might be representing the charity at a corporate fundraiser or a networking event. There will also likely be a Capital Appeal, so any experience in running appeals will stand you in good stead. As you would expect working for a local charity no two days are the same and we all ‘muck in’ – which is part of what will make working for Yellow Door so enjoyable.
Responsibilities will include:
- Identify and research new Trust, Grant, Foundation, and Corporate funding opportunities for both restricted and unrestricted Yellow Door projects.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential funding opportunities.
- Plan, prepare, and write compelling and persuasive proposals, applications, and presentations for funding and new partnerships.
- Manage relationships with existing and prospective partners across Companies, Trusts, and Foundations.
- Establish effective relationships with new Companies, Trusts, Foundations, and other funding bodies to secure long-term funding and support.
- Achieve income targets that support the delivery of the service and fundraising goals.
- Collaborate with the Volunteering and Involvement team to maximise events and outreach opportunities in the local community, providing information about Yellow Door and ways to get involved.

The Fundraising and Business Development Team Administrator will form part of a five-strong team led by our Head of Fundraising and Business Development. Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities are:
Corporate Fundraising
- Support corporate fundraising by completing due diligences on potential partners (you will be trained how to do this), organising corporate visits, volunteering days, supporting corporate fundraising events, keeping corporate partners up to date with our news etc and organising meetings.
Trusts and Foundations
- Support trusts and foundations fundraising by supporting on funder research (again you will be fully trained how to do this) and contributing to a constant pipeline of potential funders for the team to approach.
- Helping to manage the schedule for, and possibly writing and/or submitting basic proposals to trusts and foundations.
Events
- Support the team by recording and sending fundraising materials to those raising money for us through events and challenge event.
- Helping to develop, organise and deliver events.
Individual Giving
- Supporting our Individual Giving programme from an administrative point of view, including sending out pre-written emails to our supporters etc and ensuring first-class stewardship.
- Using our fundraising platform Enthuse to produce reports to support the team (and finance) with relevant information and insights.
- To ensure all donations are processed and on the fundraising tracker correctly, supporter records are kept up to date and supporters are thanked in a timely manner.
General
- To be the first point of contact for all fundraising enquiries that come in by telephone, email, and post.
- Supporting other activities in the fundraising team when needed, sending out materials to fundraisers and supporting logistics, diary management and support the organisation and delivery of meetings and events when needed.
- Attend meetings and take concise and accurate minutes.
- Support the Head of Fundraising and Business Development to produce trackers and spreadsheets which help to measure the team’s performance and results. This includes ensuring income is allocated correct from third party platforms and working closely with the Finance Team to ensure that we can report fundraising results and forecast accurately and in a timely way.
- Support with stock control and ordering for our material assistance project, LifeSupply which also forms part of the department.
- Support all income generation activity with the collation of information from other departments, external organisations or though research.
- Other general fundraising and administration duties, as and when required to ensure the smooth running of the department including assisting in other team projects when they arise.
- Undertake other tasks and duties as may be reasonable which will contribute to the overall success of the Fundraising and Business Development team or the charity’s business objectives.

About this key role
As a valued and integral part of the Fundraising and Communications team, our successful candidate will lead a small sub-team to generate at least £500,000 income each year, including the direct line management of a Senior Fundraising Officer, who you will support to line manage the Fundraising Assistant. Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia and Alzheimer’s disease research charity, is seeking a Head of Philanthropy to lead the organisation’s work with their philanthropy audiences including major donors, trusts and foundations.
Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) works to encourage debate, drive collaboration, and build partnerships across academia and industry that increase the probability of transforming discoveries from the lab bench into treatments for people living with dementia. Since funding their first project in 1998, the charity has now committed over £171 million of funding for ground-breaking dementia research.
As part of the ARUK Leadership Team, the Head of Philanthropy plays a pivotal role in leading the charity to accelerate progress towards a cure. Working closely with the senior stakeholders across ARUK, the post-holder will lead the organisation’s philanthropy work by defining and implementing the team’s strategy and ensuring that these plans support the charity’s vision, mission and strategic objectives.
The Head of Philanthropy will lead a team of approximately 8-10 people. The role holder will also personally lead on relationships with a small group of ARUK’s most generous supporters, and prospective supporters, across Philanthropy audiences.
The ideal candidate will have experience of managing a philanthropy team to deliver significant income growth, as well as demonstrable knowledge and experience of major gift fundraising. They will have a background in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and a proven track record in establishing, monitoring, and achieving ambitious fundraising targets.
Alongside excellent communication and planning skills, they will be highly motivated and target driven as well as being a strong team player who can work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Fundraising Officer will play a key role in the Fundraising Team helping to generate significant and increased income from charitable trusts and foundations and corporate partners.
