Over the past 8 years, Friends of the Earth has run a successful campaign leadership building programme with diverse young people in Further Education colleges and youth work settings across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The programme, My World My Home, recruits and supports teams of young people to take their first steps in building power in their community and leading their own environmental justice campaigns.
The young people we work with often face marginalisation and they are all new to campaigning and learning about environmental justice. Following our one-year programme our alumni have gone on to become spokespeople in national media, the Welsh Government and the UK Parliament, they have led their own campaigns, and they have become involved with national youth movements for environmental justice.
Key Skills and Attributes:
As a Youth Campaign Coach you will be responsible for delivering our programme in two locations in south Wales, leading face-to-face training and workshops with young people and supporting them as a group and 1-2-1 to build their skills and deliver their campaign actions. It is an exciting time to start this role as we are looking for new partnerships with youth organisations and are exploring embedding My World My Home into Friends of the Earth Cymru community campaigns. We especially welcome candidates who are well networked within south Wales communities to support these new groups.
A background in Youth Work or youth campaigning and a working understanding of the causes and impact of marginalisation (particularly that experienced by racialised, working class and disabled youth) will be essential for this role. Knowledge of community organising approaches would also be helpful.
This role is based in Cardiff to allow for travel via public transport to the My World My Home groups two days a week. However, applications from those living outside the Cardiff area will be considered for the right candidate. We welcome hybrid working and you are able to work both from the Cardiff Friends of the Earth office and from home. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

This role sits in the Youth and Families team, whose vision is a thriving, powerful and leaderful network of young campaigners with marginalised identities, strongly connected with likeminded partner organisations and other young people, who campaign together for environmental justice, bringing joy, leadership, resilience and impact to the wider movement.
This role will also work closely with the Friends of the Earth Cymru team, who support a unique network of local groups who campaign in communities across Wales.

As a Dementia Adviser, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support, information, and guidance to people with dementia and their carers; helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. This Dementia Adviser role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to people affected by dementia in Belfast. The role will include information programmes (CrISP) and peer support groups for people with dementia carers, and dementia support.
Your role as a Dementia Adviser will include:
- Planning, administration and delivery of an information programme for carers in the Belfast area and group facilitation of number of peer support groups for people with dementia and carers (this will include a monthly evening carer support group, and evening information programmes every 2-3 months, subject to need and contract requirements)
- Improving people’s sense of well-being, enabling them to have more control over their lives
- Assisting with the identification of needs, providing information and access to relevant services
- Supporting people affected by dementia, families and carers to access vital services, and processing referrals into the local services
- Promoting local and national services and building relationships with a range of health and social care professionals
The Dementia Adviser will be the role manager for a team of volunteers who support the local services. The successful candidate will also be required to provide support as required with other services throughout Northern Ireland and may provide support within the dementia support service as required. The role is funded by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

We are looking for someone with:
- Experience of planning, delivery and evaluation of group services
- Confident presentation skills, both in-person and online
- Understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers would be an advantage but if you have had experience supporting with other diagnosis or support requirements this would be taken into consideration.
- Able to network effectively and collaborating with other professionals, both internally and externally, to achieve a positive outcomes for people.

The successful candidate will work within the Belfast trust area. The role is community-based, meaning that the staff member will work from home or within the community as the role requires. The successful candidate will be eligible to claim mileage from the boundary of the trust area and travel within the trust area. As the Dementia Support Service reflects the needs of the people we support, you will be required to work some evenings and weekends.

Role Overview
We are seeking an HR Manager to oversee and support the HR needs of our volunteer-driven team. This includes managing recruitment, onboarding, volunteer engagement, and payroll administration. Working closely with leadership, the HR Manager will ensure HR policies, compliance, and processes align with best practices and our strategic goals. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, remote environment and understands the unique dynamics of a volunteer-based organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Lifecycle Management
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, role transitions, and offboarding processes for volunteers to ensure smooth operations
- Collaborate with managers to define volunteer roles clearly and foster a positive volunteer experience
Policy Development and Compliance
- Develop and review HR policies in accordance with UK employment standards, adapting them to fit a volunteer-based organisation
- Ensure GDPR compliance and maintain confidential records for all volunteers
Payroll and Remuneration Oversight
- Administer volunteer expense reimbursements and, where applicable, stipends, while collaborating with finance on accurate record-keeping
- Monitor pay spines for any contracted staff and align with budgetary considerations
Training and Development
- Identify training and development needs for volunteers, source relevant training providers, and coordinate volunteer development initiatives
- Promote a culture of growth, inclusion, and well-being within our volunteer team
Data and Reporting
- Prepare monthly HR reports to provide insights into volunteer engagement and retention

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Chartered CIPD membership or a postgraduate qualification in Human Resources Management or Employment Law (or actively working towards these qualifications)
- Minimum of 3 years’ UK-based HR experience, with an understanding of volunteer coordination and management
- Knowledge of payroll processes and HR practices suited to a volunteer-based environment
Desirable:
- Experience in a remote or geographically dispersed organisation
- Familiarity with the charity sector and understanding of volunteer-led dynamics
Skills and Attributes
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, evolving environment

As Finance and Office Manager you will manage all aspects of operational finances and budget controls, together with maintaining office processes.

As Finance and Office Manager, you will:
- Ensure the effective controls of all operational financial activities, including the adequate reporting and recording of all transactions
- Complete all payroll and pension administration
- Lead on all aspects of team budget management and reporting, producing quarterly Management Accounts
- Work with the Senior Leadership Team and Board on financial planning and forecasting

The Role
Work with the Individual Giving Manager, Fundraiser (Individual Giving) and wider fundraising team to administer donor support communication.
Administering the individual giving fundraising programme with support from the wider team.

We specialise in working with people with visual impairments facilitating outdoor adventures, social connection and access to specialist coaching. To achieve this the organisation partners visually impaired individuals with sighted guides for residential weekends focusing on: long walks, canoeing, climbing, tandem biking, and more. The role of a fundraiser is paramount to our continued sustainability. You will be solely responsible for our fundraising initiatives. The charity has a commendable track record of raising funds, and you will be expected to surpass these targets as a professional fundraiser. You will have extensive demonstrable fundraising experience. You will be personable, be an excellent communicator , make appropriate use of information communication technology, and capable of managing your own time and workload.
