The Finance and Funds Business Partner role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to work for a fast moving, growing organisation. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to support the Charity Financial Controller with:
- The financial management of the Charity’s funds and individually funded projects; and
- The financial control and governance of The Christie Charity group, particularly its two wholly owned subsidiaries (The Christie Trading Company Limited and Northern Pathology Developments Limited).
You will be joining The Christie Charity at an exciting time as we seek to diversify the Charity’s income streams through use of innovative social investments and strategic commercial ventures. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop a deep understanding of charity and commercial finance within a dynamic and purpose-driven organisation.
Financial management
In relation to the financial management of the Charity’s funds, you will ensure that Individual Named Funds, containing designated funds, are utilised in accordance with their Terms of Reference. In relation to the financial management of individually funded projects, you will monitor spend against budgets through accountability mechanisms agreed with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust finance team. The postholder will be an integral part of the Charity finance team and partake in the annual budget setting process to the extent budgets relate to the Charity’s Individual Named Funds or individually funded projects.
As part of your role in the financial management of individually funded projects, you will act a finance business partner to the broader Charity. You will be integral in liaising with the Charity’s newly appointed Grants Manager to ensure they are aware of new projects.
Financial control and governance
You will play a key role in ensuring robust financial control across the Charity group, with the opportunity to take ownership of its two wholly owned subsidiaries: The Christie Trading Company Limited and Northern Pathology Developments Limited. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for overseeing the accuracy and integrity of financial controls and reporting, supporting the Charity’s aim of maintaining strong governance across both charitable and commercial operations.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, budget preparation and monitoring, completing month-end close, submitting quarterly tax returns, and preparing the statutory accounts for both subsidiaries, as well as supporting the Charity Financial Controller in maintaining effective financial control and oversight of the Charity's operations as required.
Additional information
The Finance and Funds Business Partner is a well-established role in the Charity. The successful applicant will be provided on the job training to fulfil this role by the previous postholder who now holds the role of Charity Financial Controller in the organisation.
In the immediate term, day-to-day financial transaction processing will continue to be delivered by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, therefore, the postholder will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with their finance team to ensure seamless operations and continuity across the Charity group. These responsibilities are expected to transition in full to The Christie Charity by 31 December 2026.
This post would suit an individual who enjoys working in a dynamic, evolving environment, where responsibilities may shift in response to organisational priorities. The postholder must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Many of the people we see are in challenging situations; struggling with debt, experiencing food and fuel poverty, facing homeless and dealing with loneliness and isolation. The work can be emotionally challenging.
As well as our advice work we administer a number of grants on behalf of local grant giving charities and the local authority and you will play a key role in helping us to process grants in a timely and efficient way as well as supporting with advice enquiries.
Our teams are busier than ever and this role will play a vital part in supporting the team with administration tasks including; processing grants and gathering client evidence, taking client enquiries from the phone, website and email and uploading them to our database, scanning and photocopying.
You will spend your time working directly with clients with a range of physical, sensory and mental health impairments to help them to fill in grant allocation forms and other forms and helping people to know their rights. You will also support our advice teams administratively; arranging appointments, sending emails and letters and uploading information to our database
You will receive training in a range of advice areas (housing, health and social care, benefits, transport and travel) as well as other relevant topics such as various mental health conditions, managing challenging behaviour, professional boundaries, and case management. You will be supported by a friendly team of experienced advisers who will have the opportunity to shadow and you will also have access to a range of external training and development opportunities.
You will need to have clear written and oral communication skills as you will need to make phone calls and write emails and letters to clients as well as providing progress updates to the team.

We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional, with the drive and determination to manage all aspects of our fundraising function.
AAFDA is currently funded by statutory bodies, trusts and foundations, corporates, events and individuals. Under your management, you will identify, cultivate and grow these existing and new fundraising streams.As AAFDA’s Fundraising and Grants Manager, you will be responsible for oversight and growth of voluntary and statutory funding income, including from individuals (regular and one-off gifts, major donors and legacy giving), community groups, trusts and foundations, corporates, the statutory sector (including Police and Crime Commissioners) and other benefactors. Starting from a strong foundation with multiple opportunities for growth, you will lead on the delivery of our ambitious, multi-year, multi-disciplinary fundraising strategy with an annual fundraising plan agreed with senior management. With keen funder and customer awareness, you will regularly monitor and review both the plan and the strategy, in addition to working closely with our Finance Manager to manage diverse income streams and achieve income targets to fund AAFDA’s unique support and advocacy work with families bereaved by fatal domestic abuse. Are you a collaborative project leader who loves bringing big ideas to life? We're looking for a Global Projects Advisor to join our People & Culture (PAC) team. In this role, you'll work alongside our PAC Director and Senior Management Team providing them with strategic and operational support.

What you'll be doing
What we are looking for:
Role location: This role can be based in any country where Tearfund is registered and legally allowed to employ staff.
Hybrid working for UK candidates: This role is eligible for hybrid working and you will be required to work from the Tearfund Teddington office and from your home by agreement with the line manager.
Contract: This is a part time role, working 28 hours per week and salary will be market related and based on location.

The recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguarding issues. In addition, personal identification information will be submitted against a Watchlist database to check against criminal convictions as a counter-terror measure.
