We’re recruiting a fundraiser and project development manager to build on our creative, award-winning work addressing climate change and fuel poverty in practical, tangible ways. 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who shares our vision of a different energy future: one in which energy is generated renewably and used sustainably whilst leaving no one behind in the journey. We are looking for someone who understands the energy sector and the unique role that a community energy group can play in the energy transition. It is a role for someone who can imagine community solutions to energy sector issues and to translate these into fundable projects. 

Your role will be to work with our board of Directors and staff to come to an understanding of our mission and values and our strategic priorities and develop and resource projects that will enable us to meet those priorities filling gaps in provision. In a practical sense, you will work with stakeholders e.g. our staff, our members, local community groups, local authorities and clients to generate ideas for future projects. The direction of travel should be broadly determined by our recent strategic review.

You will work closely with our CEO and our Board of Directors to prioritise project ideas. You will develop partnerships, refine project ideas, identify sources of funding (Trusts and Grantmakers, Corporate Giving), draft bids and cost delivery on a full cost recovery basis, submit bids and if funding is awarded, mobilise the team to deliver the work. This role provides a big and exciting challenge for someone who knows the energy sector, understands the opportunity of community and grassroots solutions, who brings excellent written communication skills and is willing to learn how to fundraise.

Responsibilities:

Grant Fundraising Support:

• Work with the Selce community (the board, staff, volunteers and other stakeholders) to generate new project ideas that support our strategic mission 
• Research and identify potential grant-making trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies that will fund project proposals
• Prepare high-quality grant applications; this includes calculating budget requirements, formulating proposals, writing proposals
• Manage the grant administration process and maintain accurate records of funding opportunities and applications in the fundraising calendar.

Commissioned Work & Tendering Support:

• Assist in researching and identifying opportunities for commissioned work.
• Support the preparation of tender documents and proposals, including gathering necessary information, budgeting and formatting submissions.
• Provide administrative support for contract negotiation and agreement finalisation.

Community Share Capital

• Draft community share offer brochures and associated documentation
• Support the implementation of strategies to raise community share capital.
• Assist in planning and executing share offer campaigns, including preparing marketing materials and organising investor events.
• Help manage investor communications and data, ensuring compliance with cooperative principles and financial regulations.

Develop and Maintain Relationships

• Assist in building and nurturing relationships with funders, commissioners, and community investors through effective communication.
• Support the organisation’s representation at external events and networking opportunities.

Skills & Experience:

The ability to imagine and innovate and thereby build fundable project-based solutions working in partnership with stakeholders is more important that fundraising experience per se. This post would suit an Energy Policy graduate that has experience of either community energy or journalism (and therefore brings strong writing skills) or environmental projects

• Knowledge of the Energy Sector: Understand the energy markets and the energy industry. Also bring a good understanding of community energy, fuel poverty, and energy efficiency
• Strong Writing Skills: Ability to write clear, concise, and compelling content for proposals, reports, and communications.

About the Role

We are looking for a Cleaner to join our Team.

Our 627 sqm facilities host over 40 members and staff each day, providing a vibrant space for support services, creative projects, and events. As our Cleaner, you will be responsible for the cleaning and general upkeep of the centre and offices of Headway East London. You will play a vital role in maintaining a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for our community. Your work will ensure that our centre is not only a functional space but a place where people feel valued and cared for.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Working with an agency cleaner to perform cleaning duties as per the cleaning schedule, to ensure satisfactory levels of cleanliness throughout the building.

• Contribute towards retaining our 5 Star rating kitchen standards by supporting the kitchen team with post lunch cleaning.

• Work flexibly to support with ad hoc cleaning around out of hours events.

• Update the admin team when supplies of consumables are running low, ensuring that basic supplies are always available.

• Update the Admin and Premises Manager with any observation of health and safety risks and concerns.

• Assist the Admin and Premises Manager to improve and maintain our health and safety standards.

• Secure the building at the end of the day.

Spear Programme

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Preston Minster, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members
• Supporting the Centre Manager in ensuring Spear is a key missional feature of the work of the church; this may involve attending church events and speaking at services
   

Centre operations

Experience-wise, we're looking for someone familiar with analytics tools like Tableau, Faststats, or similar. About the Role

We’re looking for a flexible, compassionate and organised Project Worker to join us from October. You’ll support our Winter Night Shelter, assist with guest services and casework, and lead on communications through social media and newsletters.

This varied role offers a unique insight into frontline homelessness work, while building skills in project delivery, volunteer management, and digital content creation.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Staffing 2 evening shelter shifts per week (Nov–Apr)

• Supporting volunteers and guests during shelter operations

• Assisting guests with appointments and move-on support

• Managing bookings for showers, laundry, and wellbeing sessions

Responsibilities:

These include

1. To actively seek a thorough understanding of the membership base and the issues affecting them, creating member profiles and advising and briefing stakeholders accordingly.
2. To develop a compelling offer by profile / career stage so as to maintain and improve member retention and engagement levels, and to maximise new member acquisition.
3. To maintain a thorough and up-to-date understanding of services and activities and ensure these are being packaged and communicated in the most effective way.
4. To oversee the implementation of regular market research, including competitor analysis, to identify members/stakeholder needs, to support the rationale for the development of member products and services, and to liaise with and advise other stakeholders as appropriate.
5. To develop member communications in particular around membership renewals and the on-boarding of new members, and to ensure a high-quality member experience.
6. To ensure that membership communications at all touch points within the membership journey or as part of a non-member relationship, remain relevant and up to date.
7. To oversee the new member and renewal process, which is managed by our external partner, and troubleshoot and resolve issues that they cannot

Personal Specification: 

Essential skills, knowledge and qualities: 

1. Experience of working in a customer, member or client facing role
2. Experience of developing and maintaining strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders
3. Experience of using a CRM management system, preferably Salesforce
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to positively communicate with a wide range of people in a professional setting, with demonstrable ability to communicate effectively in challenging situations
5. Excellent planning, coordination, organisational and time management skills
6. The ability to analyse data and produce reports
7. The ability to take a proactive approach to independent working, managing your own workstreams effectively, and the confidence to take responsibility for tasks and decisions

Desirable skills, experience, and qualities:

• Interest and/or understanding of the immigration law sector in the UK
• Experience of implementing change and working with others to create new ways of working

Salary: up to £40,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Working hours: full-time at 40 hours per week & part-time at 20 hours per week; shift work between 7am-10pm including weekends, bank holidays and occasional sleep-ins

About the Role

As Team Leader, you will be directly involved in managing a 4 bed specialist short stay Home and looking after children aged 12 to 18 years old with complex needs; including Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Mental Health Disorders, Substance Dependencies and Learning Disabilities.

Whether shift leading or joining in with daily activities, you will also share in the leadership of the team, helping to develop staff by modelling high standards of professionalism. 

The successful candidate will have:

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent
•  GCSE English and Maths grades A-C.
• One year’s experience working at a level of responsibility with children and young people in a residential setting.
• An understanding of the regulatory framework relating to the provision of residential services for children and young people.
• Good understanding of the needs and risks regarding children in care.
• An understanding of trauma  informed practice.
• Experience of taking on leadership responsibilities in a teamwork setting.
• Ability to build genuine and trusting relationships with young people maintaining at all times high personal and professional standards.
• Excellent communication and team working skills.
• Ability to work shifts, including alternate weekend working and occasional sleep ins.
