Job description

As an Adult Carer Activities & Engagement Coordinator, you will deliver a programme of in-person and online support for adult carers. The role involves leading community-based hubs, facilitating online sessions, and building a network of volunteer-led community activities across Surrey.

In this role, you will:

Act as the lead for service delivery within an assigned area

Plan and lead regular in-person Carers Engage and Connect Hubs in your area, including weekday and weekend options

Take day-to-day responsibility for the monitoring of delivery venues; ensuring locations are accessible, safe, and appropriate for the specific needs of the carer group

Facilitate a range of sessions including informal drop-ins, structured peer support, training workshops, and wellbeing activities

Develop and coordinate a timetable of volunteer-led activities in the community (e.g., walking groups, book clubs, cinema trips)

What are we looking for?

We're looking for people who:

Have experience coordinating activities, events, groups or community projects

Are confident engaging with a wide range of people

Can build positive relationships and encourage participation

Share our commitment to supporting unpaid carers.

Experience gained within community services, health and social care, charities, customer-facing environments, events, wellbeing services, volunteer management or engagement roles would be highly beneficial.

Why Work With Us?

At Action for Carers Surrey, we’re committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every colleague can thrive. Our benefits reflect our values of Focus, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence, ensuring you feel valued, supported and empowered in both your work and personal life.

Every interaction matters. Every carer deserves to feel heard.

How to Apply:

Please submit your CV and a covering letter. As part of your covering letter, please answer the two questions below;

Q1: Creating an Engaging Offer for Carers

Adult carers come from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and caring situations. If you were responsible for developing a programme of activities within your local area, what types of groups, events or wellbeing opportunities would you offer, and how would you ensure they appealed to a diverse range of carers?

We’re interested in hearing your ideas, creativity and understanding of the differing needs and interests of carers.

Q2: Delivering an Excellent Carer Experience

Describe what a successful Engage and Connect Hub or community activity would look like to you. How would you create a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment while ensuring carers achieve meaningful outcomes from attending?

We’re looking for evidence of your facilitation style, approach to inclusion and focus on delivering positive outcomes for carers.

We recommend a maximum of 400 words per question, to help you provide focused and relevant responses.

Please note: Applications will be assessed on both your CV and your responses to the questions, so we encourage you to provide specific examples where possible.
