About the role
Do you work in an information, advice, guidance, or a support setting? Are you passionate about welfare rights and supporting students? Do you love developing and coaching people. We’re looking for an Advice Service Manager to lead on the day to day management of our Advice Service and grow and develop our Advisors.
The Students’ Union Advice Service supports a student population of 50000 with case numbers averaging over 3000 per year. We’re here to empower students to exercise their rights and options if they encounter problems during their time at university. We offer one-to-one advice on academic issues, housing, money and student finance issues and student life.
We’re currently going through a service transformation, and we want to lay the foundations for a thriving and sustainable Advice Service, able to meet growing demand and complexity of cases. We’re embedding a new staffing structure, and we’re looking for an Advice Service Manager who can support our staff to transition into the more senior roles available. You’ll lead on staff training and development so that we achieve our transformation plan.
As well as management, you’ll be taking on your own cases. You’ll enjoy this role if you’re interested in the law and getting to grips with regulations and policies and you’re passionate about helping people to understand their rights and challenge poor practice. As Advice Service Manager, you’ll also be using your expertise in this field to coach your team on managing their own caseload and delivering high quality advice. You’ll contribute to building strong relationships with our stakeholders. This role will really suit you enjoy speaking to people and networking. We want someone who can build positive working relationships for access to collaborative working and new opportunities for the Service.
You’ll be joining a supportive team and have access to regular one to ones as well as external restorative supervision. We are looking for someone who has experience of advice giving but you aren’t expected to come with knowledge of all our areas. Training will be given. We’ll want to hear about the knowledge and skills you have from previous roles and how you can bring the skills you’ve developed and apply them to this opportunity.

The role consists of the following key components:
- Facilitating and support the ongoing development of the Leeds Frontline Practitioners Network for Women’s Homelessness, offering peer support, training and bringing together frontline practitioners and those in the authority responsible for strategy to hold those in authority into account
- Influencing strategy, systems and practice to prevent and/or end womens’ homelessness in partnership with key partners and women with lived experience.
You will be working closely with the management and be part of the team that support adult women who sex work and/or are sexually exploited. HOPE not hate is the UK’s leading anti-fascist organisation. Our mission is simple: To monitor and challenge the far right, to engage in the communities that are susceptible to them and to address the issues and policies which give rise to them.
Over the last five years, we have grown steadily, with our research and intelligence work exposing and undermining the far right, even foiling a murder plot, our community engagement providing expertise to vulnerable communities and our work in schools growing to teach young people to recognise and challenge prejudice and hate.
About the role
The Community Outreach Officer will deliver on helping the communities susceptible to the far right. As part of the policy team, they will have access to research and policy insights on the issues which are causing tension and divisions in communities and where these tensions are most acute, and use this to devise locally-led solutions in partnership with key figures in the community and relevant sectors.
They will have experience in community organising, whether through employment or voluntary work, and use this experience to develop an organisational strategy for addressing far-right organising and hate-based community tensions. Part of the strategy will include a plan to extend and deepen HOPE not hate’s existing relationships in key areas across the UK. It will also involve designing and publicising resources, developing and delivering training and writing regular briefings.
Willingness to work with a variety of stakeholders is important. The role will include liaising with local authorities, national and local organisations and grassroots community activists to build and facilitate the design of locally-led community resilience strategies. There will also be access to our existing networks and relationships across relevant sectors e.g. migration and refugee sector, community cohesion and local authorities. An understanding that communities and community groups are the experts on their own needs is crucial – solutions should be developed with, not for, those most impacted.

ABOUT MIGRATEFUL
Migrateful runs cookery classes led by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants who are on the journey to integration and gaining access to employment. Our cookery classes provide ideal conditions not just for learning English and building confidence, but also for promoting contact and cultural exchange with the wider community.
Since its establishment in 2017, Migrateful has made a profound impact on the lives of 92 cookery class teachers. Together, they have conducted over 3500 classes, sharing the rich tapestry of their cultures and cuisines with over 40,000 participants.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will support the Head of Chef Development in the organisation, recruitment, and facilitation of our Cookery Teacher Training Programme. You will also be responsible for developing, writing, and amending class documents for our cookery class experiences, including recipes, class plans, and allergen matrices.
Over time you will forge the skills to monitor classes and provide nuanced, effective feedback to Cookery Class Teachers to maintain and improve the quality of their teaching.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a warm, empathetic, and engaging individual with exceptional organisational and communication skills for the role of Chef Training Coordinator at Migrateful. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for people and inclusion, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

Experience with recipe development, food safety certification, and working with refugees, migrants, or non-native English speakers is highly desirable, and professional or personal cookery experience would be a plus. The Young Women’s Keyworker will work with young women aged 15-24 to provide specialist 1:1 support to those referred into the service. The service is designed to be a “whole system” response to women and girls in the Criminal Justice System, so a key part of the role will include building relationships with statutory and VCS agencies, to support and encourage more young women to access the Minerva service, as well as setting up specialist referral pathways for young women in the community.
About You:
To be successful as the Young Women’s Keyworker you will:
Bring an in-depth knowledge of issues facing women offenders and those at risk of offending; both in and out of the Criminal Justice System. Have a strong understanding of the context and challenges facing vulnerable young women and girls, including the impacts of domestic violence, mental health, and sexual health.
Bring a significant experience of working with young women experiencing issues related to offending and experience of community engagement, advocacy and support work with young people and have proven practical experience of using motivational interviewing and coaching techniques with young women and girls, using a woman-centred approach to build trust and rapport. You will demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with relevant statutory and voluntary groups, developing and maintaining strong constructive working relationships.

We help individuals find paid employment or return to work after a period of ill health. We also assist employers and employees to successfully resolve mental health problems and other health issues in the workplace. But, it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Would you like to be a part of an exciting new opportunity in the IPSPC service. Your challenge? To do everything you can to help the individuals we work with to source appropriate, meaningful paid roles with local organisations/employers.
Day to day, you’ll offer support to individuals who are suffering with mental ill health and other chronic health conditions, offering careers advice and guidance, helping people to set their own recovery and employment focused goals and provide training in personal and skills development such as CV preparation and interview techniques. You’ll also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive links with Primary care providers, clinical teams, partner organisations, local employers and other relevant agencies and have the initiative to develop and promote the service. Additionally, you will have responsibility for maintaining efficient admin systems to ensure referrals, assessments and reviews are completed in a timely manner.
As well as a good understanding of the IPS model of working, mental and physical health problems and the issues and barriers this can create for our clients, you’ll need excellent motivational, presentation and listening skills and a willingness to travel in the local area and to work outside of office hours as required. You will offer short-term, one to one support to disabled children encouraging their inclusion in mainstream play and leisure activities.
As a part of the role you will encourage universal play and leisure activities to be inclusive of all children.
Working hours will tend to be after-school and evenings during the week and weekends.
The hours are flexible and can fit around studies or another job.
About you
Essential:
- You will have experience of inclusion work with children and young people with additional needs in play and leisure settings
- Be able to show a knowledge of inclusion policies and procedures
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Be able to work on your own initiative as well as following set procedures and working with others
- Have strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Be able to travel across Leeds
Desirable:
- A positive approach to the inclusion of all children and young people in play and leisure settings
