You will join a team managing Galop’s specialist advocacy services, providing support to LGBT victims and survivors of abuse and violence in the UK, with a specialist focus on hate crime and hate-motivated abuse. You will work within the advocacy management team to deliver advice, support, and advocacy to thousands of LGBT victims and survivors of interpersonal abuse and violence each year.

You will manage a team of specialist advocates and triage workers providing needs-led support, information and advocacy to LGBT survivors of a range of violence and abuse. You will work with the Head of Advocacy and other advocacy managers to ensure that survivors have access to needs-led, timely support that is right for them, maintaining high quality, consistent support across our advocacy and one-to-one support, whether that is in-person or remote. 

You will have an in depth understanding of the spectrum of violence and abuse that LGBT people are subjected to, including the causes, impact and barriers to accessing services. You will use your expertise to represent Galop with key stakeholders, advocating for the needs of the community. 

You will also have management and oversight of the CATCH Partnership, a pan-London consortium of by-and-for hate crime support services, that cover all protected strands of hate crime across race, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation and transgender status. You will need to have excellent partner management skills and be able to lead and support a diverse range of organisations with an understanding of their specific needs and challenges. 

You will be responsible for ensuring that data collected about the service is collected consistently and use this to report to funders. You will develop and maintain relationships with funders and ensuring that the service is effectively demonstrating the different that it makes. You will work with the Head of Advocacy and Director of Services to develop bids for new or continued funding for frontline services.

The Role

As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will ensure that male survivors’ safety & housing needs are met.  You will provide specialist support at the moment of crisis, providing advocacy & support to access safe accommodation ensuring the safety, security & dignity of service users & their children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure that male survivors’ safety and housing needs are met by supporting survivors to access safe accommodation
• Provide a pro-active, high quality, frontline service to victims of domestic abuse through on-going risk assessment, individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse
• Promote the service and raising awareness of issues arising, minimising barriers and improving access to support

About You

Ideally, you will have knowledge about legal remedies for domestic abuse victims and have experience working with drug, alcohol, and mental health issues. An understanding benefits, housing, and homelessness would also be beneficial.

You will need:

• Experience of providing support those affected by domestic abuse 
• An understanding of the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Knowledge of safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• A good understanding of Housing Law to be able to provide up to date advice and information on housing related needs
• Strong communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
• An understanding of commitment to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
• Strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

What could my day look like?

The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.

In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. In the afternoon you may be setting up the classroom ahead of running Primary Academic Support for young people in your IntoUniversity centre. This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Floating Support Worker to provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children living in our dispersed refuge accommodation in Warwickshire. This service will provide emergency accommodation across Warwickshire with high-quality domestic abuse support, ‘by-and-for’ services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children. 

The post holder will provide high quality support and safety planning to survivors and their children who are fleeing domestic abuse. This includes enabling survivors to access housing, welfare, benefits and legal advice.  A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment in accordance with Refuge’s philosophical principles.

The Floating Support Worker (FSW) will carry a caseload of survivors of domestic abuse to enable them to provide a more holistic and intensive support package. They will work closely with survivors from the point of crisis through to move on from the emergency accommodation. FSWs will work in partnership with both statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure that the whole range of survivors’ needs are met.

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

Tower Hamlets Solace Advocacy and Support Service (SASS) provides advice and support to people aged 16+ in Tower Hamlets who are currently experiencing domestic abuse. Tower Hamlets SASS is a team made up of Core IDVAs, a Duty IDVA, and Co-located IDVAs; Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) IDVA, Housing IDVA, Housing Floating Support Worker, a MASH IDVA, a Hospital IDVA, and a GP IDVA.

About the Role 

We are looking for a Duty and Triage IDVA to join our team. The successful candidate will act as a first point of contact for incoming referrals to Tower Hamlets SASS. As the Duty IDVA you will triage referrals into the Tower Hamlets SASS team, responding to professionals and members of the public. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with external agencies. In addition, you will risk and needs assess and safety plan with survivors of domestic abuse. 

 

About You

The ideal candidate would have demonstrable experience of working with those affected by domestic and/or sexual violence and experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of a diverse and vulnerable client group.

You bring a solid understanding of housing, welfare, and policies relating to domestic and sexual violence, alongside strong administrative and time‑management abilities, including confident use of Excel and the capacity to juggle multiple tasks. You’re able to manage a busy and often complex caseload with professionalism and care.

You have a well‑developed understanding of the causes and dynamics of domestic and sexual abuse and the impact this has on victims and survivors. Your approach to work is flexible, empathetic, and grounded in the values of Solace Women’s Aid, with a commitment to empowering those you support.

You will be responding to the immediate presenting needs of new members, completing urgent assessment of need and care planning. The support you offer will be person centred and holistic and will draw on individuals’ strengths and resilience. You will identify presenting needs, and establish if they meet the criteria for Skylight, using your expertise on homelessness, housing and benefits, signpost to appropriate services, or offer on-going support and interventions. This role is based onsite with no option for homeworking.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of working within a relevant sector delivering support to vulnerable adults. You will have exceptional knowledge of relevant housing, homelessness, and welfare legislation. You will have an awareness of the barriers to engagement and participation experience by homeless and marginalised people and will understand how these barriers will be overcome. You will have the ability to make collaborative, consistent and persistent relationships with each person, and will have strong networking and partnership development skills to ensure the best outcomes for everyone,

We are recruiting for a Duty Worker who will support the Ascent Pan London Service in building sustainable referral pathways and joint working protocols with a range of partners working with survivors of domestic abuse.

The central duty team (3 duty workers) will work closely with Refuge’s 6 floating support workers and floating support manager, and each service in the partnership has dedicated management to provide support and oversight for staff, and lead on safeguarding and project management.

We are looking for somone who has proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to women as well as up-to-date knowledge of legislation relating to survivors of gender-based violence. The post-holder will also have excellent casework skills, good written and verbal communication skills, clear professional boundaries, and be a proactive team player.

The Wellbeing and Lifeskills worker will support residents experiencing mental health pressures, to access cultural sensitive services and develop resilience, coping skills and improve overall wellbeing.

Specific Duties:

• Develop person centred multi-agency support plans. Work to a recovery based aspirations led model.
• Collect baseline information about clients current mental health needs, and record and monitor progress as they engage with the service.
• Provide assertive support to ensure effective engagement to achieve personal goals and aspirations for wellness and enjoyment of life.
• Act as a point of contact for other agencies working with the individual. Plan interventions flexibly to meet individual needs.
• Provide initial advocacy and support to access appropriate services and agencies
• Plan for reduced involvement as the service user gains sustained mental wellbeing and control. Plan for service exits, building in aftercare and rapid return if necessary.
• Support individuals to engage in meaningful activity and facilitate activities such as an LGBT group and healthy eating group. Develop other activities with guidance and input from service users.
• Regularly review barriers to progress, involving other agencies as necessary.
• Provide quarterly statistical information such as demographics and outcomes, for funders and internal use.
• Keep up to date on current treatment models, care philosophy and mental health legislation.
• Deal with general correspondence and enquiries relating to service users and the service. Keep up to date service user records.

About You

You will have experience of working with people experiencing mental ill health, experience of working with and managing risk therapeutically, experience of working in a partnership environment or with other agencies, experience of facilitating groups, setting group objectives and reviewing outcomes, and experience of using data bases to record client need, interventions and progress. You will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the needs of young migrants and refugees or other chronically excluded groups. You will have knowledge of the range of services available to people with mental health needs or other complex needs. You excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly at all levels abd the ability to plan and organise own workload

About the role

The Critical Time Intervention (CTI) Worker will provide person centred assistance during the transition from custody to community integration. By following the Critical Time Intervention model the CTI Worker will collaborate with a range of services to enable the individual to access them and use a range of appropriate interventions to assist the individual to become more independent and connected.

This also combines with an equitable approach to ensure that any systemic barriers are challenged and that the voices, experiences and stories of people navigating this transition are heard. • Working within the principles of the Critical Time Intervention model and understanding the challenges faced in the transition from custody to community integration.
• Building and maintaining good working relationships within HM Prison & Probation Service and other organisations to assist with receiving referrals, signposting, making external referrals and advocacy.
• Promote engagement with co-production opportunities within the service as well as actively seeking feedback on service delivery and improvement from the people accessing the service.
• Using reflective practice, caseload management meetings and personal development opportunities to deliver a quality service and work within the values of Crisis.
• Being able to identify and manage safeguarding concerns utilising a range of communication methods.
