The role

To run our 'Share London' volunteer based service. This service matches service users who would like to access their local communities with volunteers who can guide and accompany them out. Outings may consist of a walk round a local park, a trip to a concert, accessible art galleries, live comedy, sporting events, visits to local coffee shops and much more! As well as coordinating the community based elements of the service, the role also includes the recruitment, training and retention of our volunteers as well as some basic reporting activities. This is a role that provides major job satisfaction and we receive consistently excellent feedback from both service users and volunteers about this service.

This role is a 12 month contract role, with potential for extension.

As Finance Manager for The Angelou Centre you will have a key leadership position. You will be responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of our finances, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements while ensuring our services are sustainable through sound financial planning. You will work closely with the Executive Director and Trustee Board to provide accurate insights and projections that support long-term growth and resilience.

You will play a pivotal role in reviewing and establishing a robust finance and administrative system and procedures, managing risks and ensuring our charity finances can support delivery of our mission. You will also contribute to the development of funding applications, tenders, and financial strategies. You will play a key role in supporting funding applications, demonstrating impact through financial reporting, and building processes that enable future growth.

Our ideal candidate is someone who;

• Is an experienced charity finance professional with strong technical knowledge
• Has at least 5 years of experience in a leadership and management role or similar position
• Is confident working with VAT (including partial exemption) and income from trading
• Is strategic, reliable and keen to contribute to the long-term financial sustainability of a values-led organisation
• Is confident and pro-active in supporting The Angelou Centre’s mission and vision

Key Responsibilities

Financial Oversight

• Lead all aspects of day-to-day financial operations
• Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly management accounts to be presented to the Trustees and Executive Director
• Develop and maintain budgets for the whole organisation and departments
• Monitor and report on VAT liability, ensuring accurate submissions and VAT reclaim where appropriate
• Maintain oversight of payroll and pensions in collaboration with external providers
• Manage the weekly payment run, process invoices, and maintain accurate creditor and PO records
• Deliver informal training or guidance to non-finance staff on PO systems, coding, and budget monitoring
• Track income and expenditure from trading activities
• Provide guidance on appropriate financial structures for future potential trading subsidiaries or CICs

Strategic Planning & Compliance

• Lead financial forecasting and modelling for future sustainability
• Work closely with the Executive Director on strategic financial planning
• Ensure compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House, and HMRC
• Maintain and update financial policies and internal controls to manage risk

Grant Fund Management

• Monitor and report on restricted/unrestricted funds
• Produce accurate financial reports for funders and external stakeholders
• Support funding bids and tenders with accurate financial projections
• Track grant expenditure against budgets, flagging overspend/underspend and supporting compliance with funder requirements

Governance & Audit

• Liaise with auditors for year-end accounts and ensure timely audit preparation
• Support Trustees and Finance Sub-Committee with relevant and timely financial reporting
• Assist in presenting financial information to the Board in an accessible and informative manner

In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is required and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties however, will fall within the scope of the job at the appropriate grade. Person Specification

Experience & Knowledge

• Significant experience in a senior finance role within the charity sector

The London Diocesan Fund (LDF) is seeking a Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor to play a key role within the Safeguarding team, based from Causton Street, Pimlico. 

Job Summary 

Work as a team to support the Diocese of London in safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults in line with both UK legislation and House of Bishops Guidance. Responds well to safeguarding allegations and concerns, management of risk and making the church a safer place in line with the Church of England National Safeguarding Standards. 

Job responsibilities 

Casework  

• Respond to concerns and allegations of harm, working with statutory agencies; and protection of those who work with children and vulnerable adults in line of the House of Bishops Guidance. 
• Acting as a contact point for those in church and statutory agencies, provide advice on all safeguarding matters, ensuring the DST is operating in line with the law, government guidance and national practice guidance from the House of Bishops. Ensure that safeguarding procedures are carried out throughout the process, with appropriate liaison with statutory agencies. 
• Ensure appropriate support for alleged victims and their families and respondents and their families, throughout an investigation and thereafter. 
• Maintain practices standards in all case work, ensuring five key principles underpin all adult safeguarding work, human rights and have due regard to mental capacity and acting in the best interests of those in need of support. Supporting practice and policy development around case management safeguarding processes.
• Work with individuals who come to our attention to ensure appropriate risk assessment and risk management plans to set boundaries within a church setting; for those who are convicted of an offence, or where there are continuing unresolved concerns regarding risks to others. 
• Work with statutory agencies, including attending appropriate strategy meetings, case conferences as arranged by statutory agencies or requested by the Casework Manager or Head of Safeguarding.  
• Ensure that referrals to the DBS for barring from work with children or vulnerable adults and reports to the Charities Commission are submitted in line with statutory guidance.
• Ensure that the Bishop of London, area Bishop, Archdeacon and Head of Safeguarding and Case Work Manager are always informed when an allegation of abuse is made against a church officer. To manage case work within legal parameters and in line with the House of Bishops Guidelines. 

General 

• Provide professional safeguarding advice and undertake pro-active relationship management to ensure parishes and worshipping communities are aware of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children and adults who may be at risk of abuse or neglect; to keep them abreast of policy and practice developments.
• Under the direction of the Safer Churches Programme Manager to undertake strategic safeguarding projects and improvement work including polices and projects in line with identified business needs and operational plans. Developing initiatives to support the effective implementation across your designated area in order to ensure excellent safeguarding practices across the Diocese.
• Understand and implement, where necessary, information sharing protocols.  
• Assess risk and advise on safer recruitment with the use of the Disclosure and Barring Service. 

Training and Professional Development 

• Deliver where required training including bespoke inputs when gaps are identified and the Parish Safeguarding Officer Induction package.  
• Undertake as appropriate continuing training and professional development in the safeguarding field.

Essential 

• A social work qualification recognised by the Health and Care Professional Council, or a similar qualification in a related area/profession, or experience.
• Specific training in a variety of aspects of child or adult safeguarding.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

Delivery of Spear Programme

• As a coach you will support Spear centres in London and across the UK by preparing and coaching Spear Foundation group sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme
• Quickly building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture and attitudes in the training room
• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively
• You will be required to travel outside of London and potentially stay for a period of time at the centre. All business expenses will be covered during the working week

Spear Centre Support

• You will form part of a central support team that enables Spear Centres to deliver high quality, high impact sessions to young people when one of their team is sick or the centre is short-staffed
• You will be placed where the support is needed most, working peripatetically across centres. This could look like 2 months based in one centre or various weeks working across different centres both in London and across the UK

Trainee recruitment

• Supporting Spear Centres to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme, through active face-to-face recruitment

Active participation in and support for Resurgo’s team and mission

• Help build and develop Resurgo’s ethos and Christian life as a team member including leading and contributing to daily team prayer meetings as an integral part of Resurgo’s operation and for the success of its mission

Job Title: Monitoring Officer

Role Brief:

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation are recruiting an experienced Monitoring Officer to oversee the monitoring and evaluation of an exciting new cross-border PEACE Academy programme in Belfast and Sligo, funded by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) PEACEPLUS programme https://www.seupb.eu/

The aim of this new three-year programme, is to deliver and evidence a PEACE Academy pathway of engagement, learning, social action and employability that will inspire young people from communities in Northern Ireland and Ireland to create shared experiences and build a long-term response to sectarianism, racism and hate on a cross community and cross border basis.

We are seeking an experienced monitoring professional who can lead on monitoring and evaluation of this programme utilising the VIEWs monitoring software developed by the UK Home Office.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will:

§ Work with the senior management team to establish and implement a robust monitoring, evaluation and learning framework for the programme with key data capture tools in place from the outset.

§ Be responsible for the roll-out of monitoring data capture tools and points and ensuring that all monitoring and evaluation procedures are implemented and adhered to.

The London Diocesan Fund (LDF) is seeking a Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor to play a key role within the Safeguarding team, based from Causton Street, Pimlico. 

Job Summary 

Work as a team to support the Diocese of London in safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults in line with both UK legislation and House of Bishops Guidance. Responds well to safeguarding allegations and concerns, management of risk and making the church a safer place in line with the Church of England National Safeguarding Standards. 

Job responsibilities 

Casework  

• Respond to concerns and allegations of harm, working with statutory agencies; and protection of those who work with children and vulnerable adults in line of the House of Bishops Guidance. 
• Acting as a contact point for those in church and statutory agencies, provide advice on all safeguarding matters, ensuring the DST is operating in line with the law, government guidance and national practice guidance from the House of Bishops. Ensure that safeguarding procedures are carried out throughout the process, with appropriate liaison with statutory agencies. 
• Ensure appropriate support for alleged victims and their families and respondents and their families, throughout an investigation and thereafter. 
• Maintain practices standards in all case work, ensuring five key principles underpin all adult safeguarding work, human rights and have due regard to mental capacity and acting in the best interests of those in need of support. Supporting practice and policy development around case management safeguarding processes.
• Work with individuals who come to our attention to ensure appropriate risk assessment and risk management plans to set boundaries within a church setting; for those who are convicted of an offence, or where there are continuing unresolved concerns regarding risks to others.

• Under the direction of the Safer Churches Programme Manager to undertake strategic safeguarding projects and improvement work including polices and projects in line with identified business needs and operational plans. Developing initiatives to support the effective implementation across your designated area in order to ensure excellent safeguarding practices across the Diocese.

• Assess risk and advise on safer recruitment with the use of the Disclosure and Barring Service.

About you and the role

This is a pivotal role, at a pivotal moment for us. We are entering a critical growth phase, which includes rapidly expanding our own operations and managing significant external partnership. As Head of Finance & Systems, you will be accountable for ensuring we have the right systems and structures in place to grow at pace without detriment to good governance.

The purpose of this role is to lead on our finance strategy, and ensure all of our systems, reporting and processes are helping to drive forward the charity and deliver on our objectives at scale. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Directors to ensure that financial planning is effective and supported by accurate data analysis. You will have a crucial role in shaping our systems and processes to ensure we can scale effectively, both our existing programmes and a new membership-based programme that is in development. We’re looking for an experienced finance professional with an interest in effectively using technology and systems to drive efficiency, without compromising on accuracy or compliance. 

You will oversee all financial administration, ensuring this is carried out proficiently and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements, including ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all statutory filings are made accurately and on time. Your answers will go through our sifting process: all answers will be anonymised, randomised and then reviewed by a panel of reviewers. A long list of candidates will then additionally have their CVs reviewed. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a 30 mins online interview. Successful candidates will be invited to attend a second, in-person interview at our office in Brixton, London.

Expected duration of this application process: 7 weeks

First interviews will be held on Thurs 14th Aug.

Second interviews will be held on Weds 20th Aug.
