This is a fixed contract to support the AMA in exploring income generation opportunities for Goose, an AI powered learning platform co-designed with heritage organisations for heritage professionals across the UK. Within this project we are looking to:
· Realise sponsorship opportunities for Goose
· Identify funding opportunities and submit applications to further develop Goose
We are looking to work with someone who has experience of fundraising and sponsorship within the heritage sector.
We have developed Goose as part of an Innovation project funded by National Lottey Heritage Fund. We’ve been working with developers Make Sense of It to build an AI tool that understands the heritage sector, knows about its seasonal challenges, diverse audiences, limited budget and the balance between preservation and accessibility that defines heritage work.
You can use Goose to :
· Create social media content that brings history to life
· Develop marketing strategies for exhibitions and events
· Write visitor-facing materials
· Plan community engagement programmes
· Generate fundraising content
· Explore different approaches to common challenges
Within Goose you have the opportunity to work with Thinking Partners, a team of specialist advisors available 24/7 – a Digital Marketing Manager who knows heritage audiences, a Community Engagement Manager who understands local partnerships, a Fundraising Manager familiar with heritage funding streams. You can bring them into your conversations to support your thinking.
Goose is proving especially helpful for small teams and individuals with a lack of resource and access to a full range of specialist skills. Innovative solutions from one museum can instantly benefit a historic house three hundred miles away. We are not using AI to replace heritage professionals, we are using it to amplify their impact.

Duties and responsibilities
- Plan, create, and manage multi-channel marketing campaigns for our year-round festivals and events programme, including digital and offline advertising, press, social media, website, and print, ensuring all event content drives revenue and is promoted consistently across all platforms.
- Plan and deliver marketing initiatives for Charleston’s enterprise offer to grow attendance, sales, and revenue.
- Work with external brands to promote commercial partnerships.

- Write and distribute press releases for campaigns or announcements.

- Work with external partners, speakers and sponsors to identify opportunities for cross-promotion.
Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager:
- Exhibitions and Development to optimise cross-promotion opportunities, drive membership across the programme and maximise visitor engagement with Charleston’s offer.
- Share management of Charleston’s website, ensuring it is always up to date, engaging, and reflective of the organisation.
- Manage the communications calendar in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Manager: Exhibitions and Development.
- With the Events Manager, organise and support photoshoots and film shoots
General duties
- With oversite from the Head of Programme and Events plan and manage budgets and expenditure for marketing campaigns.
- Ensure all data management and communications are compliant with GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act (2018)
- Keep up to date with emerging audience and marketing trends and share insights with colleagues.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Heritage Activity and Evaluation Consultant to support the delivery and evaluation of our tower restoration and heritage project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. This role is crucial in ensuring the project meets its approved purposes and outcomes, while providing valuable insights for future development.
Scope of Work
1. We expect that the appointed Heritage Activity Consultant will deliver the following:
· Lead on the successful delivery of the heritage engagement activities as per the Project Plan to achieve The National Lottery Heritage Fund’s outcomes and approved purposes
· Lead on the promotion and publicity of the project
· Lead on the recruitment and management of volunteers
· Liaise with the project partners listed in the Project Plan, as well as any other connections that are created through the project

The Philharmonia Orchestra is seeking a skilled and versatile Digital Media Editor and Coordinator to join its Marketing and Communications team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience in a similar role, strong editorial skills, and confidence using key digital media creation platforms.
This new role will play a key part in the orchestra’s digital-first strategy, supporting the creation, editing, and distribution of engaging content across web, social media, and other digital channels. Working closely with the Social Media & Content Manager and Senior Producer, the postholder will help bring the Philharmonia’s concerts and activities to audiences worldwide. Focused on short form, social-first content, this role requires someone with technical proficiency, excellent organisation and a flexible approach to content capture.
Although based at Head Office, the role involves frequent time out of the office with the Orchestra – whether in rehearsals, at concert venues, or on tour. No two weeks will be the same.

Planning and implementation:

The Facilities Manager will ensure a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment across Charleston’s two sites at Firle and in central Lewes. The postholder will oversee the day-to-day facilities operations of both sites, including security, building maintenance and health & safety procedures.This role requires the post holder to carry out physically demanding tasks such as moving furniture and other manual handling.
Duties and responsibilities
Operations and facilities
- Responsibility for the management of Charleston’s buildings and facilities.
- Coordinate and oversee cleaning, maintenance, utilities, and supplies, ensuring smooth, cost-effective operations.
- Manage supplier and contracts relationships including waste management, building maintenance, cleaning and security; review chosen suppliers against Charleston’s criteria including value for money.
- Act as the main contact for tenants and ensure efficient resolution of queries.
- Oversee the relationship with the external IT provider to ensure organisational IT requirements are met and value for money achieved.
- Work closely with the Head of Collections and Research and Head of Exhibitions to maintain excellent environmental conditions for the protection of the house and objects.

This new post will build on our Charity fundraising work which seeks to generate income from a portfolio of philanthropic sources, including trusts, foundations, individuals, corporate sponsors, and statutory bodies. The primary focus of this role will be to support the Reinventing Borde Hill project, helping to transform Borde Hill’s South Park and establish a community growing garden at Sugworth Farm.
The project has an am fundraising target of £1million, to be raised over the next two years. Additionally, this post will also seek and pursue opportunities to support the work of Borde Hill Garden Charity more widely. Working with the Reinventing Borde Hill project team, the role will effectively manage funders, driving the financial sustainability of the project and wider charity operations.
Your passion for heritage, the natural landscape, and community involvement will feed into compelling funder proposals and ongoing relationship-building with supporters. You will report to the Managing Director, and prepare monthly/quarterly updates for the Project Board and NLHF.

We are seeking an Assistant Archivist to be an integral part of the Archives and Records team at Waddesdon Manor.
This role supports the Head of Archives & Records for Waddesdon, whose objective is to manage a high-quality archive service for all areas of the organisation and members of the Rothschild family, and to embed an efficient and unified records management framework across Waddesdon, the Rothschild Foundation, Waddesdon Estate and the Rothschild Family Office.
What you will do:
The post holder will assist with the provision of a full range of archive services including cataloguing, appraisal, answering enquiries, assisting researchers both onsite and remotely and assisting with digital preservation.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Archives administrative tasks:
- listing of records for appraisal purposes in line with the organisation principles
- cataloguing and describing archives in line with professional archival standards
- basic collections preservation
Digital information management tasks:
- appraising and preparing records for long-term digital preservation;
- assisting in the development of robust systems to manage and preserve our digital information, records and archives
Enquiry and research tasks:
- answering enquiries whether by email, telephone, letter or in person
- booking visits for and supervising researchers in the Reading Room
- producing documents from the strong rooms/repositories
Supporting the work of the Head of Archives & Records in:
- building positive relationships across Waddesdon
- delivering the strategic plan regards high quality archives and records management for Waddesdon
Office tasks:
- fielding phone calls
- copying documents and images for researchers
- ordering supplies
Outreach tasks:
- participating in public and private events, exhibitions, study sessions and educational activities as appropriate
- Training volunteer teams
Other tasks:
- Ensuring skills and knowledge are in place to cover Records Management tasks where necessary, including:
- assisting with the implementation and maintenance of SharePoint Online
- answering internal record request enquiries
- supervising confidential waste collection in compliance with data legislation
- Supervising and managing the work of volunteers in the department including developing tasks for volunteers to do.
You will be a great fit if:
You are a qualified archivist with a desire to expand your skills and experience working with varied 19th and 20th century collections. You are collaborative, engaged, and motivated, able to work both as a key part in a small team and independently.
You enjoy variety but can show your attention to detail and dedication in listing and cataloguing to a high standard, following internal procedures, and complying with external standards. You enjoy sharing your knowledge with colleagues, volunteers, and researchers to answer their questions and are willing to step-up and help with exhibitions, training, and talks.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter for this role:
You should be flexible and proactive, have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to demonstrate a sound problem-solving approach in your work.
You will have:
- a recognised qualification in archive administration or records management (or equivalent demonstrable experience)
- Knowledge of current archival and records management professional standards and an understanding of digital preservation principles
- Experience of working in archives and records management
- Knowledge of EDRMS (particularly SharePoint) and/or archive cataloguing systems
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Customer service experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A driving licence due to work on multiple sites
- Familiarity with the museums or heritage sector would be an advantage
- An ability to read French would be desirable

Charleston is seeking a proactive and positive individual with excellent interpersonal skills to lead the catering offer across Charleston’s two sites. The Café Manager will manage the café’s daily operations, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience for all visitors. Responsibilities include developing seasonal menus, supervising staff, handling stock orders, and leading the coordination of catering for public events and venue hire.
General duties
- Lead and deliver the catering offer, growing the business and maximising profits while maintaining a high-quality service and inclusive atmosphere for all customers.
- To manage the day to day running of the catering offer, including the scheduling and management of a café team.
- Coordinate, supervise, train and develop the café team.
- Lead on the catering offer for all aspects of Charleston’s year-round programme of events.
- The Café Manager will work alongside the Front of House and Events team to coordinate the catering for public events, and internal and external hires of our public spaces.
- Ensure that the barns, and all connected spaces are clean and well presented.
- Act as the designated alcohol licence holder, ensuring all activities comply with the premises licence and legal requirements.
- Act as a keyholder and open / close venues following security procedures.
- Maintain all food deliveries records.
Financial responsibilities
- Manage budgets for the café, staffing and all food related items. Frequently reviewing staff costs.
- Responsible for ordering food and related supplies.
- Maintain food delivery records and all discrepancies are followed up.
- Approval of invoices for food and related supplies.
- Review chosen suppliers against Charleston’s criteria including value for money.
- Responsible for maintenance of point of sales systems.
- Review receipts and other information from point of sales systems.
- Manage staff rotas, with reference to expected activity levels.
Visitor welcome
- Create and maintain a safe, professional and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
- Ensure that visitor access requirements are met.
- Contribute to the collective effort to keep the site clean and safe for visitors.
Health and safety
- Lead on food safety working with external support as required, ensuring records are kept up to date and training is completed.
- Maintain allergens documentation.
- Understand Charleston’s emergency procedures and in the event of an emergency, help oversee the safe evacuation of the buildings.
- Monitor health & safety day to day, being vigilant to potential hazards.
