Established in 1984, Asha Projects is a specialist Black and Minoritised women’s organisation run for and by South Asian women. We provide safe temporary accommodation, advice, advocacy, mental health therapeutic services, and resettlement support. Our mission is to end Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and empower women to build lives free of oppression, violence, and injustice.
The role of a Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Refuge Caseworker at Asha Projects is crucial in providing high-quality, safe, temporary refuge accommodation and support to South Asian women and their children experiencing domestic violence. The advisor will work within an intersectional framework to ensure inclusivity and address various forms of oppression and discrimination. Key responsibilities include liaising with agencies, providing emotional and practical assistance, conducting weekly key work sessions, and ensuring residents have suitable housing to move to. The advisor will also be responsible for raising safeguarding concerns, developing peer-to-peer support, and maintaining good working relationships with other agencies.
In addition to direct support, the VAWG Advisor will manage housing and financial aspects, ensuring health and safety policies are upheld, allocating accommodation, and maintaining rental income and budgetary systems. Administrative duties include maintaining accurate case files, preparing reports, and staying updated on relevant legislation and best practices. The role requires a strong commitment to Asha's values, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a willingness to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the organization and its clients.
Flexibility Clause: To deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is required, and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties will fall within the scope of the job at an equal level
Terms: All posts at Asha Projects are subject to the availability of funding. This post is offered for a fixed term period and is subject to a probationary period of three months. A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this post.
