Base71 Youth Zone is dedicated to young people and makes a bold statement about the importance of giving young people high quality places to go in their leisure time. Open 7 days a week including school holidays, the Youth Zone’s purpose is to help young people grow to be happy, healthy and successful adults.

The state of the art £10 million building provides young people with facilities that are second to none delivering over twenty sporting, artistic, cultural and general recreational activities each session. Offering young people the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, warm and positive staff and volunteers

Base71 Youth Zone is looking for a Volunteer and Training Manager to lead and develop our volunteer programme, while coordinating learning and development opportunities for both volunteers and staff. Since opening in January 2026, Base71 has already welcomed nearly 8,000 young people as members, supported by a growing team of staff and volunteers.

You will be the driving force behind volunteering at Base71, recruiting, onboarding, developing and supporting volunteers who help us create a safe, welcoming and inspiring environment for young people.

From designing meaningful volunteer roles and developing recruitment strategies to delivering training and celebrating volunteer achievements, you will help ensure every volunteer feels

From designing meaningful volunteer roles and developing recruitment strategies to delivering training and celebrating volunteer achievements, you will help ensure every volunteer feels valued, supported and equipped to thrive.

You will also coordinate learning and development across Base71, supporting staff and volunteer training, managing the appraisal process and helping ensure our team has the knowledge and skills needed to perform at their best. You will also play an active role in organising volunteer recognition activities and wider Youth Zone events.
