My client is a leading and pioneering UK health charity. From education to prevention, support and counselling to political campaigning, they deliver a wide range of services to people across the country.
Currently in the middle of a major transformation programme, they are keen to secure some additional resource for the busy finance team that can lead them through year end.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of year end statutory accounts – financial reporting and analysis, trial balance, P&L and balance sheet.

The role.
This is an exciting role that sits on the senior leadership team with a significant amount of autonomy for an outstanding fundraiser and leader who is interested in further developing a fundraising function to eventually deliver c.£1.8m fundraising income per annum.
They are at a crucial stage in the evolution of their fundraising. Opened in 2019, our Youth Zone is founded on the OnSide funding model whereby the first four years of revenue is made possible primarily by major donors – Founder Patrons – who each committed a minimum of £25k pa for four years.
Now as they enter year five, they seek the continuation of this support and are in the initial stages of diversifying their income sources. They have also secured significant ringfenced funding to expand the fundraising team, and the incoming Director of Fundraising will have significant scope to shape the team around their vision and strategy. ‘Little Amber’ is a service that offers music resources and quarterly sessions with a specially trained music practitioner to children under five and their families. ‘AmberPlus’ provides music resources and sessions offered on a termly basis to children over five who also have complex needs.’ ‘With Music in Mind’ is a new service for visually impaired children and young people with life-limiting neurodegenerative disease. Role purpose
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible to the Board of Trustees for leading The Amber Trust, developing and realising Amber’s vision and strategy, and playing a key ambassadorial role with funders and other senior stakeholders. The CEO is responsible for the management of the charity and its staff and the execution of Amber’s targets, plans and policies, ensuring that resources are used to best effect in meeting the needs of beneficiaries. What You'll Be Doing:
- Engaging with mid-value major donors and small trusts and foundations to secure crucial funding, ensuring the successful achievement of personal and team income targets.
- Managing and nurturing existing donor relationships, providing exceptional stewardship and ensuring continued support.
- Leading the development and implementation of a robust Prospect Research strategy to identify potential funders and build a strong pipeline of opportunities.
- Playing a key role in cultivating and stewarding prospective donors, fostering meaningful relationships and driving income growth for the team.
- Collaborating with operational colleagues to develop compelling cases for support and inform fundraising strategies.

Events Administrator
We are seeking an organised, dynamic, and flexible administrator to support our extensive events calendar. This includes large assemblies, forums, and training sessions. The post-holder will maintain accurate attendance records on the database and maintain membership details. They will collaborate closely with staff across teams to ensure that all aspects of organising events are covered from the planning to evaluation stage.
The successful candidate will be very IT savvy with high levels of literacy. They will have solid experience of providing effective administrative support to a range of people and functions within an organisation, as well as experience of planning and administering a range of training activities and network meetings. Are you ready to make a tangible impact on public health? The Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is seeking an experienced Financial Controller on a part-time basis to manage the transition of the financial systems and processes. With 2,400 members, the IPS is dedicated to advancing infection prevention and control (IPC), playing a pivotal role in supporting IPC professionals, promoting best practices, and influencing policy to prevent infections.
The organisation is transitioning away from being a association-management / volunteer-led model to a small secretariat, hiring its first CEO and five other positions, including this most senior finance role. You will lead on the transition process covering all aspects of financial management, to ensure the Society’s financial integrity and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial transition to an in-house model.
- Creating and testing all internal processes.
- Oversee Statutory accounts, budgeting, credit control, financial reporting and compliance.
- Manage payroll and pension scheme implementation.
- Forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and support with audit.
- Investigate potential new income generation schemes with CEO.
Requirements:
- Accountancy qualification (CIMA, ICAEW, AAT, ACCA, etc.)
- Proven experience in a financial management role, ideally within a membership body, learned society, nfp/charity or public sector.
- Open to part-time role only.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
- Analytical and strategic mindset.
- Strong comms to train and support non-financial staff.
