Job description

Are you a Solutions Architect looking to put their mark on the work at one of the country’s biggest charities?

Our architecture vision is to deliver a reliable and efficient technical landscape, making it easier to deliver and support technology that grows our income and delivers British Heart Foundation's (BHF) mission.

As a Solution Architect you’ll play an instrumental role in making that happen.

About the role

In this role, you’ll develop a deep understanding of the technology and business ambitions of our Medical directorate. Working closely with our Portfolio and Architecture teams, you’ll shape projects and lead solution designs which enable the business ambitions and fulfil the architectural vision.

You’ll gain a clear understanding of the suppliers, as-is configuration, and capabilities of the technology and will provide governance and guidance to our engineering teams and suppliers to ensure the quality of delivered solutions.

About Technology Medical

The role of technology within health and research is rapidly changing. For patients, digital health is continuing to transform their healthcare experience, from self-management through to how they interact with GP and hospital services. Technology is also changing research, from the utilisation of artificial intelligence, to monitoring and maximising our investments.

Two product teams have been established to provide Medical with clear and consistent access to Technology expertise and services to better support our mission goals.

Working arrangements

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average.  The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

Need more help balancing your work and home life? Talk to us about what flexibility is available at the application or interview stage.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you’ll have previous knowledge and experience of architecture frameworks and approaches, as well as knowledge of industry standards and best practices to ensure solutions are efficient, reliable, and scalable.

You'll have experience and knowledge of the following:
• Knowledge of service transition processes to ensure the solution can be smoothly transitioned into operation.
• Designing, developing, documenting, and supporting technology solutions
• Extensive experience working in a solution architecture or technical design role.
• Previous experience of working with virtual, multi-cultural and matrixed teams and 3rd parties
• Stakeholder management and communicating skills with stakeholders up to director level.
• Experience of implementing architectural standards and best practice

With extensive experience working in a solution architecture or technical design role, you’ll have an understanding of project management frameworks to ensure the solution is delivered on time and within budget.

You’ll also be able to create high-level designs that outline technical architecture of a solution and will possess strong analytical skills, allowing you to analyse complex business problems and requirements.

Alongside outstanding collaboration skills, you’ll be able to display diplomacy and negotiation across functions and will be able to quickly understand business processes and operations to make sure "the solution" aligns with business objectives.
