Here at UKCEH our scientists provide the data, insights and solutions that researchers, governments and businesses need to create a productive, resilient and healthy environment.
We’re seeking a dynamic Philanthropy Manager to join our new Business and Partnership Development function. This is a brand-new role for UKCEH, key to identifying and nurturing long-term relationships with charitable trusts and foundations as well as donors. From managing a portfolio of six-figure research projects to leading the development of public donation campaigns, your role is vital for the development and delivery of our strategy for engagement with philanthropic organisations and individuals.

Your main responsibilities will include:
- Lead the development and delivery of UKCEH’s strategy for engagement with philanthropic organisations and individuals
- Working closely with our science staff to develop pitches suitable to attract funding from philanthropic sources
- Collaborate with other departments within UKCEH to address potential challenges associated with philanthropic funding (including financial constraints and contractual requirements etc.)
- With colleagues in the Business and Partnership Development Function, produce the assets and deliver the engagements required to raise our profile to these funders
- Oversee the ongoing management of our relationships with philanthropic funders
We are looking for someone with a track record in fundraising, a passion for environmental issues, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to overcome issues and drive funding success.
For the role of Philanthropy Manager, we’re looking for somebody who:
- Has a track record of securing six-figure funding from trusts and foundations for research projects
- Is experienced in developing and nurturing relationships with different profiles of philanthropic funders, such as charitable trusts, high-net-worth individuals or major donors
- Has proven business and financial acumen to assess strategic opportunities
- Has strong English writing skills for developing high quality funding proposals for philanthropic audiences and reports
- Has persuasive presentation skills, able to influence decision-making
- Has strong communication and networking skills
- Has a keen interest in the environment and environmental issues
- Is keen to travel and engage with philanthropic funders both in the UK and internationally
- Shows initiative and can work in a team as well as independently
- Is proficient in using software packages including Microsoft Office and CRM systems (like HubSpot, Salesforce or equivalent)

The Role
This exciting fixed-term role will help the IOP to understand and support Wales’s education and skills sectors and to ensure that the voice of Wales is heard and represented in the IOP’s broader work across the UK and Ireland. The Learning and Skills Manager (Wales) also leads a team of professional teacher CPD coaches and a Welsh Government funded project that provides support to non-specialist teachers of physics and help schools to nurture an equitable and supportive learning environment.

Headway is the UK-wide leading charity working to improve life after brain injury. We are passionate about helping people to rebuild their lives, relearn lost skills and regain independence.
We know that with the right help, at the right time, there can be life after brain injury. In addition to providing direct services to those affected by a brain injury and campaigning to raise awareness of this often-hidden disability, Headway UK supports a network of 119 local organisations who support people with brain injuries, their families and carers, within their local communities.
The services provided by each one of these independently run Headway groups and branches vary depending on local needs. They each provide a lifeline to brain injury survivors, carers and family members they support.

The main duties of the role
- To work with the Impact and Operations teams to improve programme evaluation, including designing qualitative and quantitative impact and process evaluations.
- To lead the delivery of evaluations, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
- To act as an impact expert for the charity, using data and impact reporting internally and externally to develop IntoUniversity’s strategic goals
- To play a key role in the formal data and impact reporting for the charity including the production of Impact Reports and annual university reports, and ensuring the impact microsite is kept up to date.
- To prepare reports on the performance of the charity, collating data and presenting it in clear formats for a variety of internal and external audiences including: staff delivering the programme; Regional Operations Managers; the charity’s Senior Leadership and Senior Management teams; Trustees; Donors; University partners.
- To develop and maintain expertise in research and evaluation methodologies
- To keep abreast of research and policy developments in relation to the higher education and charity sectors.
- To lead on developing and delivering Impact training for new and existing staff.
- To support the management of IntoUniversity’s Salesforce database including the maintenance of database records, creation of new features, producing and analysing reports, supporting and training staff in itsuse, and reviewing the effectiveness of the database as a monitoring tool. Salesforce training will be provided.
- To support members of the delivery team with Salesforce queries and requests for data and analysis.
