The Head of HR and Operations will be a key member of the Senior Management Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive. This role will be central to shaping the organisation’s culture and ensuring that our HR and operational functions are robust, future‑focused, and aligned with our mission.
As we continue to grow, the postholder will play a pivotal role in building an inclusive, values‑driven, and high‑performing workplace where staff feel supported, trusted, and able to thrive.
They will lead on HR strategy, employee development and retention, and the effective management of our facilities and operational systems. Main responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
· Contribute to the development and delivery of Your Voice Count’s organisational strategy as a member of the Senior Management Team.

· Support organisational change, growth and service development from a people and systems perspective.
· Oversee HR function, policies, and efficient working practices

Facilities & Office Management:
· Oversee office, facilities, and repairs to ensure a safe environment.
· Manage supplier contracts, IT, and communication systems.
· Supervise facilities and operations staff.
· Ensure cost-effective procurement and budget management.
Organisational Operations and Compliance:
· Act as organisational lead for GDPR compliance, working with external advisors where required, supporting the Data Protection Officer.
· Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and support managers in maintaining safe working practices.
· Maintain oversight of organisational assets and information management systems
Essential Skills & Experience needed for the role
· Experience of building inclusive and diverse workplaces.
· Ability to develop HR strategies that support business objectives and workforce planning.
· Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
· Experience supporting managers with employee relations and performance issues
· Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, with a people-first approach.
· Knowledge/experience of managing and delivering across multiple workstreams such as HR and Facilities (experience in all an advantage but not a requirement)
· Experience of contributing to senior decision making
· Ability to analyse, critique and evaluate business data and insights
· MCIPD qualified or a qualification or experience in human resources management, or equivalent experience at a senior level.
· Influential with the gravitas to effectively help shape the organisation
· Significant management or supervisory level HR experience

Leading CamRARE
As Chief Executive, you will provide strategic leadership for the charity, oversee governance and operations, develop and execute the strategy set by the Board of Trustees, and build key external partnerships. This role leads fundraising efforts and develops high-level external stakeholder relationships with Government bodies, including healthcare organisations/departments, Industry, patient and charity organisations, and Research Institutions involved in rare disease.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- Play a key role as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), contributing to organisational strategy and fostering strong cross‑department collaboration. - Manage the relationship with the Charity’s external investment portfolio fund manager and independent investment advisors - ensuring the Charity receives high-quality professional advice on investment strategy, shareholdings, and cash allocation, and that all recommendations align with organisational objectives, ethical considerations, and risk appetite.
About You
You will be a professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with substantial senior‑level experience and the credibility to operate confidently at Board level. Most importantly, you will embody strong values, show high emotional intelligence, and be genuinely motivated to contribute to MAAC’s mission. Charity sector experience is essential - with a thorough understanding of what it takes to promote financial best practice, control spend and assist with income generation in sizable Not-for-Profit environments. About Chapter One
Chapter One is a small but growing charity, working to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports about 3,500 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 180 local and national businesses. The volunteer task is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.
We have set ourselves ambitious targets and want to support 3,900 children by 2026/27, so this role, with responsibility for building new corporate partnerships, will be crucial to ensuring that we have sufficient volunteers to achieve this target. 2026 has been designated by the Government as the National Year of Reading, so we have a great opportunity to capitalise on this and secure business commitment for our work!

About the role

As Director of Income Generation & Business Development you will set the strategic direction for all income related activity across the charity, ensuring LWA develops a sustainable, diversified income portfolio that is aligned with the charity’s purpose and values. As Director of Income Generation & Business Development you will:
- Strategically lead a multi-year income generation and business development strategy, setting key objectives and enabling diversification that aligns with LWA’s values and new organisational strategy.
