About the role
Working closely with colleagues in the policy and public affairs and the research teams you will drive forward EngineeringUK’s engagement with politicians, policy makers and other political stakeholders, ensuring that EngineeringUK’s policy views are heard across Westminster, Whitehall and in the regions. This will mean developing clear engagement strategies and plans with the support of the Head of Policy & Public Affairs focused on nurturing our relationships with MPs and Peers. You will monitor political and policy developments in Westminster and the regions, working closely with policy colleagues in the team, and brief MPs and Peers using EngineeringUK’s research and policy reports and recommendations, ensuring that EngineeringUK’s views are heard in debates in Westminster and across Whitehall. As the Public Affairs Advisor you will represent EngineeringUK in meetings with some of our key partners, including the public affairs group of the National Engineering Policy Centre, supporting them to take forward joint projects.
The role is London based at our office at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN and may involve some travel in the UK. We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a baseline of 2 days (or 40%) a week in our vibrant central London office overlooking the Thames. Role responsibilities

Together with the Head of Policy and Public Affairs, develop and keep up to date clear engagement plans focused on building trusting and fruitful relationships with political stakeholders and other key influencers across Westminster (with the possibility of expanding this into the regions and devolved nations).

Monitor, share intelligence and respond to political developments in Westminster, Whitehall and the regions.

Write and organise Parliamentary Questions; write and organise briefings for a range of stakeholders including parliamentarians, EngineeringUK colleagues as well as some of our members. Draft consultation responses for parliamentary committees, APPGs and others as needed.

Represent EngineeringUK externally including on the public affairs group of the National Engineering Policy Centre.

Support the organisation of policy and public affairs focused events in Parliament and other locations.

Context and Background
The NSPCC relies on voluntary income for the majority of its work to keep children safe, prevent abuse and ensure every child has a voice. To secure long-term sustainability, the charity has reshaped how it engages supporters through the Engagement and Fundraising Directorate.
Within this, the Philanthropy and Partnerships Department brings together high-value audiences and supporter-led income. The Volunteer Board Fundraising team leads income generation through regional and national volunteer boards, volunteer-led fundraising initiatives and delivery of special events through our high value event committees. These activities play a vital role in maximising sustainable income, engaging senior volunteers, and supporting long-term supporter relationships.
The volunteer boards are made up of influential and successful senior stakeholders who feel passionately about the NSPCC and volunteer their time to help the NSPCC generate income and awareness. They employ a range of fundraising techniques to reach their goals – their focus being to use their networks and influence to secure income generating opportunities via events, corporate partnerships and major gifts from individuals.
The team works closely with colleagues in Philanthropy and Partnerships (corporate partnerships, major gifts, trusts and statutory), Public Engagement (marketing, brand, digital), and Fundraising Operations (data, compliance, finance, procurement) to ensure volunteer fundraising is integrated into supporter journeys, delivers excellent experiences, and achieves strong ROI.
With the support of a Fundraising Manager, the role of the Fundraiser is to cultivate and steward key relationships and deliver special projects across the volunteer boards and their network to deliver against annual income plans.
Job purpose

OTR are looking for a Grants & Corporate Fundraising Coordinator to work as part of the Fundraising & Communications Team. This role is the organisational engine for income through trusts and foundation grants, and corporate fundraising, within OTR’s fundraising mix. It would suit an organised individual with a strong interest in relationship management, and proven writing abilities.
Working collaboratively with the Head of Fundraising & Communications, the post-holder will cultivate and nurture funder relationships and be responsible for researching and writing compelling case for support copy for applications. They will maintain accurate and up-to-date pipeline planning and customer relationship management (CRM) records, and, once familiar with OTR, will have the opportunity to lead on mid-level funder opportunity management.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience working in fundraising, identifying and tracking funding opportunities, drafting proposals, and raising funds.

Salary
The spot salary for the Reward Manager role is £58,242 per annum for those who meet all role requirements. If you’re still developing some of the skills or experience, you can start at a salary 5% or 10% below the spot rate, with clear support and progression opportunities to reach the full amount.

Main Purpose of the Role
The Fundraising and Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in driving Reef-World’s mission to protect and sustainably manage coral reefs and coastal ecosystems worldwide. This hands-on, senior position combines leadership of the charity’s fundraising and communications function with strategic oversight, ensuring that Reef-World maximises its global reach, secures sustainable income, and delivers compelling, mission-aligned messaging across all channels. This position reports directly to the Directors.
You will lead the development and delivery of income generation strategies while overseeing multi-channel communications, digital engagement, media relations, and brand stewardship. You will manage a small, dynamic team of staff, consultants, and volunteers, coordinating resources to support programme delivery and ensuring high-quality outputs that enhance both conservation impact and fundraising success.
You will join a remote, globally distributed, and diverse team, collaborating across multiple countries and cultures to advance Reef-World’s mission. You will be given autonomy to lead the fundraising activities of the organisation and will be encouraged to try new things and take ownership of the fundraising portfolio as a whole. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, proactive, versatile professional to shape the charity’s growth, profile, and influence in marine conservation on an international scale.
Our Fundraising Landscape
We have had steady year-on-year growth in income since we were founded, with a shortfall recorded last year. The shortfall in income for the last financial year is down to our main donor, the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) not being able to provide funds due to the global economic and political climate. This grant source is naturally very unpredictable in nature, however, we had previously successfully secured a year-on-year budget from UNEP since 2009. You can see our financial history on our Charity Commission listing. Our financial year runs from June to May. For June 2024 to May 2025, our fundraising target is £425,000. We have secured £240,000 of this, and around a further £60,000 is unconfirmed but likely. However, we have previously successfully secured a year-on-year budget from UNEP since 2009.
So far in the current financial year, 65% of our income is grant income, corporate sector and commercial partnerships make up 17%, individual giving is 7%, and 11% of income comes from programme’s products and services.
This role is replacing a Development Manager who joined in March 2024 and created this as a new role. Through her leadership and guidance we have strong foundations across all fundraising streams to build on. We would like the post holder to maintain our excellent track record for grant funding while further establishing and growing new sources of income, especially unrestricted income. We’re open to exploring most kinds of income generation but are particularly interested in exploring corporate fundraising and major donor opportunities and have good foundations upon which to build here.
