We’re looking for a Policy and Research Officer to join the Magistrates’ Association and turn evidence into influence.
The MA is the only independent membership body for magistrates in England and Wales. With around 12,000 members, we speak truth to power, support our members, and advocate for a fairer and more effective justice system.
This is a varied, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. One day you might be writing a briefing for a parliamentary inquiry or drafting a consultation response; the next you could be analysing survey data, supporting one of our national policy committees, or working with colleagues to launch a new advocacy report in the media.
You’ll be joining a small, supportive team where your ideas can have real impact. Recent projects have tackled judicial diversity, recognition for magistrates, reform of the Single Justice Procedure, and access to justice for disabled magistrates. Your work will help shape the future of the magistracy — and through it, the wider justice system.

The Director of Public Affairs will work with the CEO and Senior Management Team to raise our profile and influence policy, unlock and steward resource and build new partnerships, in order to facilitate growth in impact. They will do this by getting the most out of our high performing Public Affairs team, which covers policy, research, advocacy and communications - as well as working across teams and with the Board to ensure Impetus is well positioned externally.

Key responsibilities
Fundraising and income generation
- Work with Impetus CEO and SMT to support the delivery of the Impetus strategy and business plan and deliver the public affairs milestones to time and within budget.
- Champion and contribute to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across all areas of Impetus' work, ensuring that EDI principles related to Impetus’ mission are reflected in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, communications and public positioning.
- Vision setting and strong line management of the Public Affairs team, developing their capabilities, representing the team at SMT and to the Board and ensuring it continues to make a valuable - and valued - contribution to the achievement of Impetus’s objectives, through building and implementing high quality work plans for the team and ensuring the wider Impetus team is aligned on these.
- Increase awareness, understanding and trust in Impetus among key stakeholders, through regular, thoughtful engagement with the sector and securing high profile media coverage.
- Raise awareness of the education and employment gaps faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and what we can do to break down the barriers they face - through research, policy positioning and effective communications.
- Build a positive reputation for Impetus in government and parliament and among funders, as a source of expertise on how to improve the education and employment outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and as a trusted interlocutor and partner, building on and leveraging the many relationships already established.
- Ensure that all advocacy is supported by high quality research and evidence, with our policy and research agenda well aligned to supporting the delivery of Impetus’ strategy.
- Ensure a positive media profile, continuing to build on the base established to build awareness among the media of Impetus’s expertise and content.
- Position Impetus as a ‘sought-after’ collaborative partner for other organisations with shared objectives; including regularly representing Impetus at relevant sector events.
- Support the delivery of our fundraising strategy and the successful delivery of our events programme, in particular, our flagship Transforming Lives Dinner.
- Where appropriate, collaborate with our portfolio partners to support their public affairs work and to leverage relevant partnerships, drawing on their insights to inform Impetus’ work.
- Contribute to the successful performance of the Senior Management Team, and provide expert advice to them, as well as to Trustees, on all public affairs-related activities and in the implementation of the broader strategy, engaging with decisions and challenges across the organisation.
- Oversee the running of our Public Affairs Committee (PAC), leveraging their skills, expertise and influence for the good of Impetus.

About Shout Out UK (SOUK):
Shout Out UK (SOUK) is a UK-based award-winning political and media literacy organisation with nearly a decade of experience in delivering impactful educational campaigns. Our mission is to defend and amplify democracy by equipping individuals with the critical thinking skills needed to navigate the complex information landscape and engage as informed, active citizens. The Position:
You will be joining our small, passionate NGO to manage our programme implementation and delivery. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be tasked with managing the distribution and delivery of our programmes. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Marketing Manager
Office – Moreton in Marsh
Cotswold Friends is a local charity based in Moreton-in-Marsh, which for over 45 years has been providing Community Transport, Befriending, Carer Wellbeing and Community Activities to older and vulnerable people in the Cotswolds. We aim to combat loneliness and isolation. Our voluntary services improve health and wellbeing and support independent living. We currently support over 2,300 people with 340 amazing volunteers.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to lead and develop the Marketing function for an established and well-respected local charity. As the Marketing Manager, you will report directly to the CEO and be supported by a Marketing Co-ordinator working 12 hours per week and a team of Marketing volunteers. Your role will involve:
• Development and implementation of Marketing strategy and plans, informed by research and data analysis, to support the charity in the achievement of short and long-term objectives

We have an opportunity for a Public Affairs Manager to join our team and help shape and carry out the Royal British Legions public affairs activities in Northern Ireland.
In this newly created role, you will develop and implement RBLs public/external affairs activities in Northern Ireland at both the national and local level. You will advise colleagues on political developments of importance to RBL’s operations in Northern Ireland, manage relationships with external stakeholders and aid in the establishment of a supporter network in Northern Ireland.
Reporting to our Head of Public Affairs and Campaigns, key responsibilities will include:
- Development of a Public Affairs engagement programme for Northern Ireland and manage its day-to-day implementation through a combination of regular events, meetings, briefings, and attendance at conferences, including party conferences
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with key members of the Northern Ireland Assembly, NI MPs and their staff, Veteran’s Champions, as well as Committees and All Party Groups, and other related national stakeholders.
- Lead RBL’s relationships with key local stakeholders and partners, including engagement with local councils, Health & Social Care Trusts, the Housing Executive, NI Veteran’s Commissioner’s Office and NI Veterans’ Welfare Service and other public bodies in Northern Ireland
- Lead on the production of external briefings for Northern Ireland Assembly debates and local council business, as well as internal briefings for colleagues
- Work closely and effectively with colleagues in Campaigns, Policy & Research to ensure RBL is a leading organisation in facilitating evidence-based policy change, through working together to influence policy professionals and decision-makers.
RBLs Campaigns, Policy, and Research (CPR) team raise the profile of issues affecting the Armed Forces community, and work to influence politicians, officials, and the wider sector, to improve policy and service delivery to address these issues. This new role will see you as a key part of this vital team working across the RBL group.
This is a permanent position. You will be contracted to your home address. You will be expected to work both there and on a mobile basis at other locations in Northern Ireland, with occasional travel beyond this area.

We are looking for someone who is outgoing and enthusiastic to join our Supporter Care team, who will carry out essential supporter engagement and administrative activities associated with marketing campaigns, donations, fundraising events and requests for materials. With previous experience of providing excellent customer service, you will have the ability and confidence to communicate with a variety of people, engaging with supporters by phone, email and in writing about a wide range of enquiries.
The Supporter Care team at Alzheimer’s Research UK is often the first point of contact in the charity for supporters, potential donors and members of the public. The Supporter Care Administrator works alongside five other team Executives handling supporter enquiries, processing donations, and thanking supporters to ensure an excellent standard of customer care and to generate the maximum amount of income for dementia research. This role reports to the Senior Supporter Care Officer (SSCO) and ensures that the team successfully deliver an efficient and a first-class supporter experience for the charity.
This role will be known internally as Supporter Care Executive*
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Supporter engagement
· Answering inbound telephone calls; responding to a wide range of enquiries including marketing campaigns, donations, fundraising events and requests for materials.
· Managing email enquiries, either by responding or forwarding as necessary.
· Responding to written enquiries received in the post.
· Making outbound telephone calls in order to increase the value of, or to retain supporters; including thanking, obtaining Gift Aid declarations and reactivating lapsed donors.
· Recording feedback received by the charity and assisting in the resolution of complaints.
· Champion high quality supporter care, ensuring that all supporters and members of the public have an excellent experience when contacting the charity.
Donation processing, database and general administration
· Processing donations from telephone calls and mailings, acknowledging supporters appropriately.
· In Memoriam giving; sending out materials, processing donations and sending appropriate acknowledgements to donors, Funeral Directors, and the Next of Kin.
· Regular giving; processing new Direct Debit instructions and Standing Order payments, amending and cancelling gifts as necessary.
· Processing and thanking donations relating to regional fundraising and sporting events.
· Ensuring the integrity of the database (currently Salesforce), by amending supporter details as necessary.
· Opening and batching incoming post.
· Updating team procedures as required.
· Archiving, scanning and filing documents.
What we are looking for:
· Experience of working in a customer facing role.

· Confidence working with computers – good knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and CRM databases.

The role
The philanthropy manager will report to the senior philanthropy manager.
We are seeking a creative and driven philanthropy manager to join our team on a permanent basis. Working alongside members of the wider team, you will help deliver the best possible experience to some of the charity’s most committed donors through a mixture of bespoke events, personalised communications, and recognition opportunities across our hospital sites.

The team
Our dynamic fundraising department generated £4.5m through donations in 2023/24, and we are now preparing for an ambitious multi-million-pound campaign in support of a ground-breaking cancer centre on the site of the Royal Free Hospital.
We pride ourselves on being a supporter focused and agile function, working at the heart of the charity to deliver impact for patients and staff across our hospitals.
Responsible for attracting and retaining donors, and delivering an outstanding supporter experience, the fundraising department comprises two teams which work closely together to achieve our shared objectives:
· Our philanthropy & campaigns team builds relationships with individual philanthropists, trusts, foundations, corporate organisations and intermediaries, giving or facilitating donations of £10,000 or more to the charity each year. They lead major appeal activity for the charity, currently focused on our forthcoming cancer campaign, and special events to support these activities.
· Our public fundraising team harnesses the support and energy of individuals and groups, helping them to give back in the way that works for them. This includes committed giving, in memory support, gifts in wills, and fundraising events and challenges.
· Our database and supporter care colleagues underpin and support the entire department.

This is a pivotal role within the Development Office. About You
What we need from you:
- A passion for people and a belief in the power of conservation (we’ll teach you the rest!)
- Resilience: the ability to face rejection and keep going with positivity.
- Confidence speaking to strangers and working towards clear targets.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Availability to work 3 out of 4 weekends.
- Willingness to travel up to an hour from home each way every day.
- Comfortable working outdoors and often alone.
- Fundraising, sales, or customer service experience.
Please note, you will be required to travel to our HQ in Sandy, Bedfordshire during your induction which will start on the 6th of October 2025 and you will be required to travel to our HQ from the 13th - 16th of October. For a full list of induction dates please refer to the attached recruitment pack. We will cover all associated costs for travel and accommodation. Full training and support will be provided.

Salary: £25,847.00 - £27,549.00 per annum

The Role
This is not your average 9-5.
Each day you’ll:
- Use your company van (with fuel and parking covered) to travel to venues in your area.
- Set up an eye-catching, informative fundraising stand.
- Engage members of the public in meaningful conversations about conservation.
- Inspire them to become RSPB members through regular direct debit support.
You’ll be a visible, passionate ambassador for nature - often outdoors, often on your feet, and often outside your comfort zone. This role takes grit, resilience, and the ability to bounce back after a tough day. But for those who thrive on purpose and people, it can be deeply fulfilling.
