The Fundraising Development Manager role is a real opportunity to help Somerset Wildlife Trust develop a sustainable fundraising strategy and bring together the Fundraising and Supporter Development Team to retain and grow donations. Responsible for our 23,000 members, as well as appeals, adoptions, our online shop and member events, the Fundraising Development Manager will lead the team to bring in a significant proportion of unrestricted income, as well as managing the relationships with some of our most passionate supporters.
We are looking for an insightful fundraising manager who can help us maintain our existing fundraising channels as well as developing our corporate membership strategy and investigating new sources of giving and opportunities we have yet to take advantage of – essential if we are to achieve our ambitious strategy. You’ll be working with the entire wider fundraising team to help develop leads and pipelines to support the wider fundraising efforts, as well as having the opportunity to diversify our fundraising actions.
Meet Fundraising Strategic Targets
Supervise and line manage the Fundraising and Supporter Care Team by building integrated programmes of supporter development activities that retain and grow donations and fundraising from existing supporters and deliver growth in income by recruiting new financial supporters to achieve financial targets.
Responsibility 1: Leading Public Fundraising Activity
Manage fundraising activity through:
- Leading the fundraising team to build integrated programmes of activities that increase donors and deliver growth in income.
- Growing annual membership numbers by managing and maintaining current recruitment channels. Oversee relationships and engagement with our membership including complaint management.
- Managing the relationship with the Trust’s face to face membership recruitment company, SWWFL, to deliver best efficiency and returns on investment.
- Planning and implementing integrated appeals and other ways for members and the public to give which deliver strong results to support the Trust’s fundraising priorities and targets.
- Working as fundraising leadership team with the Philanthropy and Trusts & Grants Managers, supporting the Head of Fundraising on strategic projects.
- Developing and testing activities based on insights and analysis to ensure the best return on investment across all segments of the supporter base, to support fundraising colleagues.
- Managing existing corporate relationships to maintain and improve corporate fundraising levels, supporting account management of corporate partners.
- Establishing a data collection strategy in line with current data protection rules and which creates a pool of warm leads to convert into donors.
- Ensuring our new supporter database (Raiser’s Edge) is fully developed within the Trust and developed to maximise our integration with existing systems. Supporting teams across the organisation to use RE to increase knowledge of existing relationships and creating opportunities for fundraising and engagement.
- Managing the workload, performance and personal development of the supporter development team to drive more support and income for Somerset Wildlife Trust.
- Being accountable for setting the Supporter Development budget and reporting on performance against targets, to help inform planning and product development.
- Championing the use of best practice marketing techniques, including data collection and GDPR, throughout the Trust, with a particular commitment to delivering high standards of supporter care and fundraising practice.
Responsibility 2: Developing sustainable income streams
Be proactive and nurture strong relationships by:
- Identifying, developing and testing new individual giving fundraising activities based on insights and analysis, to ensure sustainable fundraising income across a variety of sources that target all segments of the supporter base.
- Identifying and testing membership recruitment diversification channels and growing annual membership income via techniques including upgrades.
- Designing and implementing a fundraising strategy for corporates, including identifying targets, developing relationships, and significantly increasing income from this fundraising channel. Work with other corporate functions across the Trust to ensure a combined corporate offering that benefits everyone.
Responsibility 3: Developing Fundraising pipelines
Provide management and accountability by:
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to contribute ideas and knowledge to deliver integrated engagement and fundraising campaigns and the growth of other income streams, including gifts of £1k+, gifts in wills, Community Fundraising and Grant Fundraising.
- Creating user journeys and stewardship for our supporters to help retention and increase giving propensities.
- Developing a warm lead generation and development program to increase the number of potential donors within our database, supporting all areas of individual giving including Community Fundraising, Legacies, Major Donors and Patrons.
- Working with the Database Officer, Philanthropy Manager and Community Fundraising Manager to identify segments within the database that could be developed into Major Donors or to support other fundraising income streams.
- Investigating and developing an event strategy to help support specific demographic groups including Corporates, members and other key supporters, including the annual AGM and members day.

North Bristol & South Gloucestershire (NBSG) Foodbank has operated for 12 years, providing emergency food parcels to people in crisis in the local community. Recently, we have shifted our focus to go beyond food and try to tackle the root causes of food insecurity. One goal of our new strategy is to change minds, change policy and create empathy about poverty. The Campaign Coordinator is responsible for working towards this goal by delivering the Trussell Trust’s (TT) influencing and mobilising work during the General Election (GE). You will do this by building strong relationships with other food banks in the Bristol & South Gloucestershire area. Campaign Coordinators implement TT’s national GE strategy, by using Organising techniques to put pressure on Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (PPCs) in each Combined Local Authority.
You will lead local community teams of people who support ending the need for food banks, to secure commitments from your PPCs to ‘prioritise the problem of people going without essentials if re/elected, acknowledging the role social security needs to play in tackling it.’
This role is funded by TT as part of their GE strategy, and you will be part of a network of Campaign Coordinators around the UK doing this work. You will serve as the link between NBSG Foodbank and the Mobilisation team at TT, as we build a movement to end the need for food banks.

Roles & Responsibilities:

To build trusted relationships with food banks during (pre and post) UK General Election. You will hold 121 conversations with each food bank in the Bristol & South Gloucestershire area and ensure there is clear communication between the food banks.

To support teams of community volunteers. You will have 121’s with: food bank staff, volunteers, partner organisations and stakeholders in each community to develop community bases for your campaign work.

To lead effective door-knocking teams in your community. You will door knock with your community campaign team to drum up support for the campaign, provide members of the public literature on food bank use in their local community, and invite people to their local hustings.

To help each of your community campaign teams organise a local hustings. You will ensure that your community campaign teams: attend national TT webinars, receive national guidance on how to approach PPCs, understand the TT legal GE guidance, understand the logistics of organising a hustings, ensure that the hustings is as accessible as possible and ensure that the voices of people with lived experience are heard through the hustings.

To develop good relationships with local press and media outlets. You will work alongside National TT colleagues to find key press and media contacts in your area, ensuring your community campaign teams get coverage for their hard work.

To deliver the local campaigning strategy working with food bank staff, volunteers and clients.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
As the Trusts and Foundations Executive, you will be responsible for delivering income from a range of donors and prospects, with a focus on trusts and foundations, through growing a successful grants pipeline and inspiring funders to support the Helen Bamber Foundation. You will be managed by our Grants Manager and work closely with the Head of Fundraising to deliver high-quality applications and reports to small and medium-sized Trusts and Foundations, as well as supporting larger donors in collaboration with your team members.

The Role
As the Legacies Manager, you will assume a pivotal role within our dynamic Partnership and Development team. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the strategy and execution of our legacy programme, driving forward our mission to support vulnerable children, young people, and families across the UK. Drawing upon your strategic vision and extensive experience in fundraising, you will design and implement innovative legacy campaigns aimed at maximising income generation and expanding the reach of the organisation’s Family Hubs.
Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with fundraising and partnership development experts to develop compelling legacy propositions and engage potential donors effectively. You will leverage your exceptional interpersonal skills to build and nurture relationships with legacy supporters, inspiring them to leave a lasting impact through their philanthropy. Additionally, you will utilise your expertise in data analysis to inform decision-making and refine campaign strategies, ensuring optimal outcomes and return on investment. As a strategic thinker and innovative leader, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.
Key responsibilities of the Legacies Manager include:
- Develop and implement a legacy strategy/plan aligned with the charity's goals to increase/improve outreach to and engagement with legacy supporters and raise legacy income around agreed goals.
- Provide excellent stewardship to all supporters who engage with legacies, working with stakeholders to ensure journeys are insight-led, respond to audience needs, and are well documented and reported upon.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of legacy giving initiatives and regularly report on progress to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and continuously improve strategies for maximising legacy support.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the end-to-end process for delivering the legacies plan is designed and documented. This includes solving problems in circumstances where there is minimal guidance available from established practices and precedents within the organisation.
- Work closely with the Head of Relationship Fundraising and other fundraising colleagues to ensure that all fundraising activities are well-coordinated and contribute towards the overall fundraising strategy.
- Identify growth opportunities that foster organisational projects which impact and improve the Legacy programme.
- Develop and execute marketing and promotional campaigns to raise awareness of legacy giving opportunities within the organisation. Utilise various communication channels, including digital platforms, events, and printed Job Description & Person Specification materials, to effectively promote the importance of legacy giving and its impact on the organisation's mission.

The Food bank Campaign Coordinator is responsible for delivering Trussell Trust’s influencing and mobilising work, in their target area, during the General Election. You will do this by building strong relationships with other food banks in your Parliamentary constituency areas of Rhondda and Ogmore, Bridgend and Vale of Glamorgan. Campaign Coordinators implement Trussell Trust’s national General Election strategy, by using organising techniques to put pressure on PPC’s in each Parliamentary constituency.
You will build and lead local community teams who support ending the need for foodbanks, securing commitments from your PPC’s to ‘prioritise the problem of people going without essentials if re/elected, acknowledging the role social security needs to play in tackling it.’
This role is funded by the Trussell Trust as part of their General Election strategy, and you will be part of a network of Campaign Coordinators around the UK doing this work. You will be the link between your food bank(s) and the Mobilisation team at Trussell Trust, as we build a movement to end the need for food banks.
Responsibilities of Campaign Coordinator:
· To build trusted relationships with food banks during (pre and post) UK General Election. You will hold 1:1 conversations with each food bank in your allocated area and ensure there is clear communication between the food banks.
· To support teams of community volunteers. You will have 1:1s with: food bank staff, volunteers, interested individuals, partner organisations and stakeholders in each community to develop community bases for your campaign work.
· To lead effective door-knocking teams in your community. You will door knock with your community campaign team to drum up support for the campaign, provide members of the public literature on Food bank use in their local community, and invite people to their local hustings.
· To help each of your community campaign teams organise a local husting. You will ensure that your community campaign teams: attend national Trussell Trust webinars, receive national guidance on how to approach PPC’s, understand the Trussell Trust legal GE guidance, understand the logistics of organising a hustings, ensure that the husting is accessible as possible and ensure that the voices of people with lived experience are heard through the hustings.
· To develop good relationships with local press and media outlets. You will work alongside national Trussell Truststaff to find key press and media contacts in your assigned area, ensuring your community campaign teams get coverage for their hard work.
· To deliver the local campaigning strategy working with food bank staff, volunteers and clients.
· To work with the Organising and Local Mobilisation team in Trussell Trust and engage with the training and support on offer, including work with other Campaign Coordinators in the Trussell Trust network.

Battersea’s multiple award-winning Income Generation department raises around 60% of the Charity’s total income. Working with colleagues across the organisation, they provide members of the public and organisations with opportunities to engage with Battersea and to support our work. Within this department sits the Challenge and Public Events team who deliver challenge events, including charity places in the London Marathon and Royal Parks Half Marathon, and our multiple award-winning Muddy Dog Challenge series.
This team is looking for someone to join them as a Challenge and Public Events Assistant on a 6-month contract, to be the first point of contact for fundraising products, In-Celebration and community supporters, as well as our carol concert attendees, delivering exceptional supporter care and building long-lasting relationships. They will also provide administrative support to the Senior Challenge & Public Events Officers to deliver a portfolio of fundraising events and activities, as well as take the lead on small projects.
This will be a rewarding opportunity to play a role in giving the dogs and cats in our care a better life, and we are looking for someone who has experience of delivering outstanding supporter/customer care, is able to work collaboratively with colleagues from other teams, and has a full, valid UK driving license and is confident driving vans and other vehicles.

Our involvement work brings together our community to mobilise urgent change in research, support, campaigning and awareness through the power of their united voices. The insight from our involvement network inspires and drives all our work across The Charity. This role involves actively engaging and stewarding everyone across all relevant and interested groups. This includes providing support to those living with a brain tumour diagnosis, their family and their friends. As part of our services team, you will ensure we engage all groups including those disadvantaged and less heard from, championing the voices of our wider community to grow our involvement network. You will also collaborate with those professionally committed to the cause, including our research community, to ensure that people affected by brain tumours have the chance to both shape and participate in research opportunities. You will be responsible for measuring and sharing the difference we are making through the delivery and analysis of our Improving Brain Tumour Care Surveys, empowering the community to identify the gaps in treatment and care experiences, so we can make a difference where it matters most.
Who we’re looking for:
The successful candidate will have experience of working with individuals, groups and communities and have the ability to communicate complex information in clear, engaging ways. As a highly motivated and established champion of community involvement, you will have a proven track record of delivering a programme of involvement activities, including tools and resources to support meaningful patient and public involvement in research. You will be keen to use your leadership and relationship building skills to make a real difference, and have an instinct to listen, support and enable the community to drive change. You will have excellent people and influencing skills and the ability to identify smart opportunities, develop action plans and deliver change. With a willingness to learn, you will be evidence-led and analytical when delivering new approaches to involvement across the organisation.
Key accountabilities:
· Grow the involvement of the community in driving development of The Charity’s work including support, campaigns, fundraising, research and strategy
· Develop the involvement strategy and engage teams across the organisation to maximise the use of involvement
· Promote, advise on, and facilitate involvement activities including but not limited to focus groups, workshops and developing and undertaking surveys
· Collaborate with our Research team, contributing to the design and implementation of policies relating to research involvement
· Steward and look after the involvement network and develop their experience in a structured way over time
· Manage our Young Ambassador and Involvement Champion programmes
· Ensure we engage all groups including those disadvantaged and less heard from
· Innovate in involvement by bringing in ideas from others and developing partnerships across the wider ecosystem, in the field of brain tumours and outside the sector
· Identify the gaps in experience of treatment and support of the brain tumour community through the Improving Brain Tumour Care surveys and other feedback mechanisms

· Ensure effective operational cover of the support services when required, including own participation in delivery of services

Experience:
· Proven track record in a similar role for at least two years i.e. leading on involvement and participation work especially in a health, research, social care or third sector environment

· Designed and run user insight work, including online and in person workshop facilitation and interviews
· Designed and built online surveys, including delivering quantitative and qualitative research methods and their application
· Experience of working with and supporting people affected by neurological disorders and/or people affected by brain tumours
· Recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers
· Proven experience of identifying, working to and delivering on Key Performance Indicators and clearly demonstrating impact
