What will I be doing?

We have a twelve-month fixed term opportunity for you to join us as a Gift Associate in our Philanthropy directorate. This role will support the front-line fundraising work of principal gift fundraisers for the Francis Crick Institute (the Crick). We need you to coordinate the work streams for frontline activities on behalf of the principal gifts programme including assisting with donor communications; developing gift proposals and liaising across internal teams to advance principal gift activity at the direction of and on behalf of principal gifts. Additionally, you will assist with meeting coordination and the creation of meeting briefs, notes, and other supporting materials.

This is an exciting time to join the CRUK philanthropy team, as we prepare to launch an ambitious multi-million-pound fundraising campaign in 2024.This role will support activity and projects to ensure we can meet expected outcomes during this period of growth.

Key duties include:

  • Support the senior principal gift fundraiser(s) in all aspects of frontline fundraising activity, including the organising and preparation for donor meetings and events, preparation of briefings, meeting collateral, and relevant materials, preparation of file notes, contact reports, and prospect updating of the database, as required. This may involve travel and itinerary planning.

  • Work with the Prospect Research team and fundraisers across the Crick to assist in identifying engagement, cultivation and stewardship opportunities for prospects, helping to track donor cultivation and solicitation steps.

  • Work with frontline fundraisers to draft briefings for leadership and volunteers.

  • Oversee the active use of the database (Siebel) to record and track donor activity on behalf of the principal gift fundraisers. Work with appropriate CRUK colleagues to maintain a donor and prospect tracker for the fundraisers; work with colleagues from Services to produce reports and other data to inform the tracker and fundraisers; and review lists for donor recognition, event invitations, and other oversight of donor data.

  • Support the frontline fundraisers in creating regular and effective movement through the supporter journey for identified prospects. This will involve supporting the development and execution of individual moves management plans and strategies, drafting correspondence and helping execute opportunities for engagement.

What skills are we looking for?

  • Excellent customer service skills (donor-centric).

  • Excellent project management and organisation skills with strong attention to detail; excellent writing skills with strong comfort with technology (knowledge of databases, Excel, PowerPoint and other platforms).

  • Demonstrated experience of successful multi-tasking against often competing deadlines.
