Job description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the world? Do you want to leverage your skills to combat homelessness for children and young people? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you.

We are looking to recruit a Family Services Practitioner to assist with the provision of our whole family holistic approach and to support parents and children in our Family service through a mixture of outreach support and the delivery of a range of learning and play activities. This is an exciting role in our Family Services team that will plan and support safe, creative, inclusive, and appropriate play and learning opportunities and assist in the planning and provision of practical help and emotional support to families experiencing short- or long-term housing and/or financial insecurity. The role is pivotal in reaching the Centre’s goal of helping children and families achieve improved long-term outcomes, greater resilience, and wellbeing.

Please note that this role requires flexibility to allow for changes to the weekly rota to meet the needs of our clients. During term time, the Family Centre is open on Saturdays and will require some Saturday working. The work pattern rotates from Tuesday – Saturday or Monday – Friday. During the school holiday periods, our programme changes and we do not open on Saturdays. You will therefore work Monday-Friday during these periods.

Please refer to the job description for further information.

In your cv and cover letter, please outline how you meet the requirements of the role and why you would like to work for us. You must account for any gaps in your employment history. In your cover letter, please also answer the following 3 questions:

1.       Do you have an accredited qualification in the Children and Young People's Workforce 0-19, Playwork or equivalent? Please can you explain briefly how these qualifications have been put into practice in your previous work.

2.       Do you have an understanding of the support needs and or experience of working with children and families who are facing poverty and or poor housing?

3.       Do you have experience of working in a community setting with children and families? Please give short examples of your experience.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The Centre requires job applicants, staff and volunteers to complete a criminal records self-declaration and undertake a DBS check.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 18th June.
