About CARE

CARE International is a global humanitarian organisation leading the fight to end poverty in the world’s most challenging situations. Women and girls are at the centre of our work, because we cannot overcome poverty and inequality until all people have equal rights and opportunities. We know that when a crisis erupts, women are often the first to pick up the pieces, so we work alongside women, so they have the power to make change where it’s needed most. Founded in 1945, CARE currently works in over 100 countries and last year alone reached 53.4 million people through nearly 1,500 projects.

Why work for CARE International UK?

This is an exciting opportunity to shape how CARE International UK generates, applies and shares evidence to strengthen the quality and impact of our programmes. As Senior Research and Learning Advisor, you will work across teams and with partners to turn learning into practical improvements, develop the evidence base in key strategic areas, and help demonstrate what works for women and girls in some of the world’s most challenging contexts.

About the role

The Senior Research and Learning Advisor will lead the development and delivery of high-quality research and learning that strengthens implementation and impact across CARE International UK. The role will coordinate and deliver strategic research priorities, support teams to generate and use evidence, and translate findings into accessible learning products, recommendations, and influencing messages. Working closely with programme, policy, advocacy, fundraising and communications colleagues, as well as CARE country offices, partners, researchers and wider sector networks, the postholder will help embed a culture of reflection, adaptation and evidence-informed decision-making.

You will bring strong research, evaluation and learning expertise, with the ability to design robust approaches, assess evidence critically, and communicate complex findings clearly to varied audiences. You will be an effective collaborator and facilitator, able to build trusted relationships across cultures and organisations, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work to deadlines. Sound judgement, curiosity, and a practical understanding of how evidence can improve programmes and influence change will be essential.

About you

You will be an experienced research and learning professional with a strong track record of designing and delivering applied research, evaluations or evidence initiatives in international development or humanitarian contexts. You will have significant experience using a wide array of different methodological approaches and will be confident mixing methods in order to build compelling evidence that pushes forward our understanding of our impact, and practice. You will combine rigorous analytical skills with the ability to turn complex evidence into clear, practical insights for diverse audiences. Collaborative organised and proactive, you will be confident managing projects and external partners, facilitating learning across teams and building trusted relationships across cultures. A strong commitment to gender equality and locally led approaches are essential.
