Team: Lifeline

Location: Hybrid, covering the East Anglia and some areas of the South East region with frequent travel

Work pattern: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm

Salary: Up to £27,466.16 per year

Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities of our Domestic Abuse Caseworker:

• assessing referrals and admitting cats onto the service
• providing pet advice and support to our volunteer foster carers
• working with other stakeholders such as pet owners, domestic abuse support services, and internal Cats Protection employees or other agencies
• extensive communication via phone, email and in person, as well as daily admin and extensive driving

About the Lifeline team:

• Lifeline is a pet fostering service for anyone fleeing domestic abuse
• the majority of our referrals come from women fleeing domestic abuse via women-only services.
• the service places cats into volunteer foster homes on a temporary basis until their owners can be reunited with them.
• our team consists of a National Lifeline Manager, Lifeline Manager and Lifeline Caseworkers

What we’re looking for in our Domestic Abuse Caseworker:

• good all-round experience of performing administrative duties in a busy service
• previous professional experience giving pet care advice
• previous experience in a public facing role
• an understanding of the problems experienced by families fleeing domestic abuse with pets
• a confident self-starter who has had experience of working with volunteers and home visiting
• a full, manual UK driving license and comfortable driving a van
• experience of working in the animal welfare sector and able to provide basic cat welfare and behaviour advice

Team: Advocacy

Location: Remote with regular travel - Must be a commutable distance to Edinburgh or Belfast

Work pattern: Mon-Fri, 7 hours per day. Occasional weekend or evening hours required

Salary: Up to £37,565.95 per year

Responsibilities of our Advocacy and Government Relations Officer for Scotland/Northern Ireland:

- This role will cover both Scotland and Northern Ireland, the successful candidate will need to be able to travel between the two nations

- Lead engagement with the Scottish Government, the Northern Irish Executive, UK and local Government

- Support engagement with the UK Parliament

- Monitor parliamentary activity daily and conducting online research

- Preparing position statements and responses to external policy developments

- Developing public-facing charity campaigns including online resources, organising events and delivering presentations

- Media spokesperson for Cats Protection

About the Advocacy team:

You will be working as part of the Advocacy & Government Relations team in the Advocacy & Influence Directorate. The team is made up of 11 members who work across the whole of the UK speaking up for cats. Our campaigns change laws to better protect the health and welfare of cats.

What we’re looking for in our Advocacy and Government Relations Officer for Scotland/Northern Ireland:

- Experience of advocacy, public affairs or influencing work (which may include campaigns), ideally in Scotland/Northern Ireland

- Lives within a commutable distance of Edinburgh or Belfast or willing to relocate to the area

- Experience of policy work and research

- Experience of dealing with high profile/ VIP individuals e.g. Ministers, MSs, MPs, MSPs, MLAs, Government Officials, Local Councillors and officers, corporate executives; professional organisations

- Proven ability to multi-task and work independently on own initiative, accurately and under pressure

- Resilience and an ability to deal with potentially upsetting topics

- Experience of effective use of social media and the internet in an advocacy/campaign context

- A confident communicator with good written and oral skills; and great people skills

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to be flexible and adaptable

- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office – Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

Location: Midsomer Norton (please note, this is a not a home working role)

Work pattern: 35 hours per week, rota is across Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday's

Salary: Up to £27,466.16 per annum

Contract: Fixed term until 31st March 2027

Responsibilities of our Retail Online Hub Manager:

• To lead, manage, coach, and develop an online team of employees and volunteers to be the best they can be, maximise our online performance through the safe day-to-day operational management of online activities.
• Take ownership for delivery of the online income, expenditure and operating profit budgets and other key measures of performance.
• To support the work of Cats Protection, acting as brand ambassador, being a role model for the values and behaviours of the Charity, taking responsibility for online operations and related people management.

About the Retail team:

• We currently operate 80 shops across the country and an online trading operation for new and donated goods
• Retail and trading play a key role in growing income and introducing new audiences to Cats Protection.

What we’re looking for in our Retail Online Hub Manager:

• Experience of managing eBay or other comparable online operations
• Demonstrable learning and experience from functioning in a relevant ecommerce environment
• Previous experience of line managing a team and building a culture of achieving collective goals
• Ability to provide a positive experience for shop team colleagues through effective engagement and management
• A good understanding of the challenges of working in the voluntary sector and specifically charity retail
• Full, valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle
