Team: Media
Location: Remote with some travel to visit cat centres, approx 1-2 times a month
Work pattern: Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week

Responsibilities of our Stories Officer:
- Establish the role of storytelling at Cats Protection, looking for opportunities as well as risk
- Develop and deliver a multi-channel storytelling strategy
- Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to develop new ways of working
- Manage a database of stories and track their usage across Cats Protection
- Write and communicate compelling case studies based upon the stories sourced
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of stories used across campaigns and channels
- Provide support and stewardship for those who share their stories with us
- Support the Media Office with reactive and proactive journalism requests
About the Media team:
Although very much a pan-organisation role, the Stories Officer will work closely with Cats Protection’s Media team. The team plays a critical role in safeguarding and enhancing the charity’s reputation. The team delivers proactive media campaigns, manages high-profile reactive queries, and supports branches and centres with expert communications advice. Working closely with all departments, the team ensures our work and impact are visible on a national stage while upholding best practice in ethical and trauma-informed storytelling.
What we’re looking for in our Stories Officer:
- From a professional communication, journalism or creative writing background
- Experience developing and implementing an organisations storytelling strategy
- Experience building relationships with storytellers
- Understanding of media and fundraising environments
- Skilled in trauma-informed storytelling and working sensitively with vulnerable people
- Strong writing and interviewing skills
- Understanding of what makes a good story/case study
- Ability to manage sensitive content with discretion and empathy
- Strong editorial judgement and understanding of tone, voice, and audience

Salary: Up to £51,869.05 per year

Responsibilities of our Surveyor:
- Manage a designated portfolio of properties, delivering repairs and maintenance as required- Be a property expert for colleagues across the estate giving high levels of service and support.Working with colleagues in Estates Support; Safety, Health and Environment; and Legal teams, provide a safe and compliant environment across the estate.
- Oversee property works in alignment with retail and operations managers within agreed SLAs
- Assess property issues and take appropriate action
- Maintain accurate records across estate/FM databases and cloud-based systems
- Provide advice on retail/commercial lease acquisitions and disposals
- Liaise with agents, landlords, neighboring occupiers, solicitors and local authorities
- Procure and manage contractors, ensuring they are vetted and all work meets H&S legislation
- Regional reporting to support the Principal Surveyor and the Head of Estates & Construction with the wider management of the estate
About the Estates and Construction team:
The Estates and Construction team manage a wide-ranging and diverse portfolio that reflects the breadth of the estate. Within the region covered, the portfolio includes purpose-built cat adoption and homing centres (both freehold and leasehold), a network of leasehold charity shops, multi-pen sites, and a small number of residential properties occupied by employees or external tenants. Occasionally, surveying expertise is also required for matters relating to legacy properties.
What we’re looking for in our Surveyor:
- Regional coverage is flexible, however we are looking to support the East of England, Midlands and South Yorkshire
- Level 6 or higher professional surveying qualification
- Current membership of a professional institution such as RICS, RIBA, CIBSE, CIOB, IWFM
- Post qualification experience of surveying in a property or facilities management environment
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Working Knowledge of retail leases, acquisitions and disposals
- Multi-site and use property management and compliance experience
- Experience of working on and managing small building or maintenance projects up to £500k
- Ability to work within a small team and externally with professionals and third parties

Responsibilities of our Celebrity & Influencer Relationship Officer:
- The role of Celebrity and Influencer Relationship Officer will support us to deliver our Brand & Marketing 10-year vision which supports the overall organisational goals of enhancing cat welfare and increasing our impact, supporting volunteering to become an exemplary voluntary organisation, deepening our engagement with customers and supporters and enabling vital income generation activity to support financial sustainability.
- Acting as a key contact for all of our celebrities and influencers, this role is responsible for supporting the delivery of our strategy in this channel. The role works cross organisationally to support teams with celebrity and influencer activity to drive awareness of and engagement with different areas of our work and products.
- The role will also support the development of partnerships with digital creators across social and streaming platforms, helping Cats Protection reach younger and more diverse audiences.
About the Brand & Marketing team:
- We sit within the Marketing & Income Generation directorate
- The Brand and Marketing team are responsible for delivering our vision for Cats Protection to be seen as the leading cat charity known for its innovative, effective approach and positive impact on society.
- We currently have a team of 29 employees
What we’re looking for in our Celebrity & Influencer Relationship Officer:
- Have experience working directly with celebrities, influencers, or in talent management within the nonprofit, media, or entertainment sectors.
- Experience of nurturing relationships to drive high impact and maximum value for the organisation and to build lasting and meaningful connections
- Experience of identifying, researching, undertaking due diligence and targeting appropriate influencers and high-profile individuals, publicists and agents, digital creators streamers and gaming communities across platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, TikTok Live and Discord
- Experience of pitching appropriate campaigns and projects to celebrities and influencers to secure their support and to be responsible for producing and distributing online and offline promotional material
- Experience of developing and handling a stewardship programme
- Strong understanding of social media culture, online communities and digital trends
- Knowledge of how to target and develop relevant relationships and how to leverage the fame of celebrities and influencers for the benefit of the organisation
