Duration: Temporary (8 weeks initially)

Pay: £26.37 - £27.47 per hour + holiday pay (£48,000 - £50,000 FTE)

Hours: 35 hours per week, with flexibility to work across 4 or 5 days or a 9-day fortnight

Location: Fully remote

Are you a hands-on charity finance professional who can quickly bring structure, confidence and practical support during a busy period?

Charity People are partnering with a national charity to recruit an experienced Finance Manager for an immediate start. This a temporary role to support during a period of leave.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative organisation at a pivotal stage in its finance systems journey. Having recently implemented a new finance system, the organisation is now focused on embedding processes, improving documentation and ensuring the finance function continues to operate smoothly during a period of transition.

The team is looking for an experienced and capable finance professional who can hit the ground running, provide operational leadership and support day-to-day financial management while helping develop sustainable ways of working.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare financial information ready for management accounts and accompanying commentary
  • Support the day-to-day management of purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll and grant administration
  • Provide hands-on support across the finance function during a busy period
  • There is 1 direct report (Finance Officer)
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to promote best practice in financial processes
  • Support the continued embedding of a recently implemented finance system
  • Identify process or system issues and recommend practical solutions
  • Contribute to the development of finance documentation and procedures

You will have:

  • Significant finance management experience
  • Previous charity sector finance experience
  • Strong understanding of restricted and unrestricted funds
  • Experience preparing management accounts and supporting financial reporting
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to work independently and use initiative
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach
  • Confidence working in a changing environment where processes are still evolving

Desirable experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong QBE candidates will also be considered
  • Experience managing finance staff
  • Experience supporting finance system implementations or post-implementation improvements
  • Knowledge of iplicit or similar cloud-based finance systems
