Job Summary

We’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking finance leader to play a central role in shaping the future of the finance team at St John Ambulance. Reporting to the Finance Director (who reports directly to the CEO), this is a high-impact position at the heart of our finance transformation journey—ideal for a self-motivated, qualified accountant who thrives on change and making an impact.

As a senior leader within the organisation, you’ll be instrumental in driving the evolution of our finance function, leading and developing a large, multi-disciplinary team. You'll bring deep expertise across a broad range of finance disciplines and be excited by the opportunity to embed best practices, streamline processes, and strengthen financial governance.

This is more than a technical role—it's a strategic leadership opportunity. You'll collaborate with senior stakeholders across the organisation and externally, using your communication and influencing skills to shape decision-making and support our charitable mission.

You’ll oversee the delivery of timely, accurate management accounts and play a key role in providing high-quality financial reporting to our Trustees and Finance Committee. You'll also take the lead on our statutory audited accounts, acting as the principal contact for both internal and external auditors.

With additional responsibility for cashflow forecasting, treasury management, tax compliance, VAT, and gift aid, this role ensures St John maintains robust financial governance. While charity sector experience is an advantage, it's your passion for making a difference and your leadership in finance that will set you apart.

About You

• Educated to degree level with a full professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Significant post-qualification experience (PQE) in senior financial accounting roles, with strong technical expertise.
• Proven track record in producing annual statutory accounts and successfully managing external audit processes.
• Extensive experience leading and developing large finance teams within complex organisations, driving performance and accountability.
• Skilled in preparing management accounts, income and expenditure reports, and cash flow forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
• Demonstrated success in finance team transformation, implementing process improvements, and enhancing financial controls.
• Experienced in stakeholder engagement at all levels, including Board reporting, and providing expert technical accounting advice to support change and excellence.

About the Role

• Lead statutory and management reporting: Oversee the production of audited statutory financial statements and timely completion of the external audit. Ensure best practice in external financial reporting and take full responsibility for the accuracy and delivery of monthly management accounts.
• Own cash flow and balance sheet management: Lead the preparation of the charity’s monthly rolling cash flow forecast and ensure full ownership of the balance sheet, including timely and accurate reconciliations.
• Strengthen financial controls and working capital: Ensure effective financial processes and controls within transactional teams to manage working capital and drive continuous improvement in financial operations.
• Oversee compliance and tax: Identify, manage and control financial risks, including tax compliance. Provide expert technical accounting advice and ensure the charity remains fully compliant in all taxation matters, including VAT and gift aid.
• Drive counter fraud and governance improvements: Act as the financial lead for the charity’s control environment and counter fraud framework. Champion improvements in fraud awareness, culture, and control.
• Manage key external relationships: Serve as the main contact for the charity’s bankers and investment managers, and act as secretary to the Finance Committee and Investment Advisory Group.
• Optimise treasury and investment performance: Lead treasury activities to maximise returns on working capital and investments, ensuring alignment with the charity’s strategic objectives.
• Develop team and performance culture: Foster a high-performing finance team through regular 1-1s, development reviews, and team meetings. Embed a strong performance management culture in line with St John Ambulance policies.

 How are staff supported to work remotely?

 VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community.

• Provide one to one support to children and young people put in, and on occasions you may need to support with group work to children and young people.

• Play a vital role in ensuring we provide high quality, end-to-end support to children & young people to help them to recover from abuse.

About the role 

The role sits within the Mass Participation Team, an ambitious team that attracts and enables supporters to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer through participation in virtual or real-life events and challenges. They deliver through creating a quality and forward-looking events and challenges portfolio and working with partner teams attract motivated participants and provide an outstanding supporter experience that ensures fundraising goals are smashed and long-term relationships are built.

Young Lives vs Cancer recruits around 11,500 virtual fundraisers a year. For many of these supporters this is their first interaction with Young Lives vs Cancer and shows that virtual fundraising can be just the beginning of a relationship with a new supporter.

Virtual fundraising is ever evolving and competitive. We need someone to lead the team who understands the opportunities and challenges presented by this type of fundraising. Someone who will focus on the lifetime value of our supporters and who can motivate a team to be ambitious, brave and confident in this space.

The main purpose of this role is to lead on the virtual fundraising portfolio at Young Lives vs Cancer. This will include developing a multi-year, multi-event strategy for virtual challenges, managing the virtual fundraising team and using insight to adapt and innovate our digital offering.

Redemption Roasters Case Worker

Introducing Redemption Roasters

Redemption Roasters has a clear mission: to reduce reoffending through coffee.

Our coffee is roasted behind bars at HMP The Mount, and we reduce reoffending by: (1) employing prison residents in our roastery, (2) providing barista and technician training in UK prisons and the community and (3) employing prison leavers (our participants) in our 12 London coffee shops. 

By providing paid employment, in-house case work support, and on-going training, we create an environment that supports our programme participants to lead a positive life away from the Criminal Justice System. 

The role of Case Worker

Redemption Roasters is looking to appoint a dedicated Case Worker to deliver personalised support to participants employed across our London coffee shops.

In this role, you will meet one-to-one with participants to support their employment journey. You will use case work sessions to talk through concerns or challenges, discuss professional development and support participants to progress positively. You will play an important role in creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment that enables participants to succeed.

The successful applicant will be offered comprehensive on-boarding and training, with opportunities to shadow experienced members of the Redemption Roasters team.

Duties

• Effectively manage a caseload of participants, delivering one-to-one support that is tailored to each individual’s needs and goals across all 12 shops. 
• Support participants trained by Redemption Roasters (in-custody and the community) as they prepare for trial-shifts and look to move into employment. 
• Visit Redemption Roasters training programmes in partner prisons to discuss employment opportunities and meet participants ahead of release. 
• Build strong relationships with participants, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
• Work collaboratively with the Redemption Roasters Shop Managers to support the professional development of participants employed in their shop. 
• Utilise partnership working, signposting and referrals to other organisations to support the positive progress of participants.
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead for Redemption Roasters, leading annual policy reviews and ensuring best practice is followed.

Personal specification

Essential

• Experience working with and supporting vulnerable individuals with complex needs
• Empathetic and kind, with a strong belief in the Redemption Roasters mission
• Ability to deal with challenging behaviour and conduct difficult conversations
• Experience balancing competing needs and priorities, with excellent time management
• Understanding of safeguarding requirements and processes

Desirable

• Lived experience of the criminal justice system (either direct or indirect)
• Understanding of the criminal justice system, license restrictions, probation and criminal record disclosure
• Experience assessing risk and making decisions relating to safeguarding, ideally working as a Designated Safeguarding Lead
• An interest in coffee, with insight into working in a coffee shop or hospitality setting

As Business Development Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting the effective delivery of Frontline’s leadership development programmes and workforce development training offers. You will provide high-quality administrative, operational and project support across the Business Development team, working closely with the Business Development Manager and Programme Manager to ensure smooth programme delivery and excellent participant experiences.​

Your responsibilities will include supporting communications, logistics, resource management, scheduling, and data tracking. This is a key role for an organised, proactive and collaborative individual who is passionate about supporting work that improves leadership and practice across the children’s social care sector.

Some key responsibilities include:

• Providing operational and administrative support for the delivery of leadership development
• Drafting and managing participant communications, including joining instructions, programme updates, feedback surveys, and certificates.​
• Supporting project planning, risk tracking, and logistics mapping for leadership and training offers.​

The focus of the Philanthropy & Trusts team is to build a solid base of support through excellent stewardship of existing trusts and major donors alongside cultivation of new prospects, reached through prospect research and the networks of senior volunteers.
The key purpose of this Philanthropy Manager is to meet both financial and strategic KPIs, by managing a portfolio of key individual relationships and cultivating new prospects to support the long-term health of the Philanthropy pipeline. This role, together with Battersea’s other Philanthropy Manager, will also work closely with senior leadership, senior volunteers and other individuals to open up networks and introduce new major donors to Battersea.

The Parks Team are a passionate group of professionals, who work together to maintain and improve Wandsworth Council’s parks, commons, playgrounds, allotments and other greenspaces. The borough of Wandsworth has one of the richest varieties of open spaces in central London.  Enable Leisure and Culture is a non-for profit charitable organisation and the lead contractor employed by Wandsworth Borough Council to provide management and maintenance of the boroughs 32 greenspaces.  This role is part of the Enable Parks team, a passionate group of people, who work together to maintain and improve Wandsworth Council’s parks, commons, allotments and other greenspaces. We are keen to recognise, value, manage and enhance the natural and heritage landscapes that we manage - contributing to a healthy planet and the wellbeing of our communities.

The role of Parks Volunteer Programme coordinator in the Enable Parks team will allow you to demonstrate your skills working with stakeholders and local communities to deliver park improvements, habitat management tasks and one-off volunteering opportunities. You will assist with developing working relations with existing corporate partners and increasing our reach by creating new partnerships in the local area and beyond. 

Your responsibility will be to manage and deliver volunteering sessions throughout the entire portfolio of parks and greenspaces.  You will develop a volunteering program which is established but in its infancy, working with key managers and the team around you to create a purposeful and output focussed programme of opportunities for local groups and corporate partners.  The potential to develop volunteering is significant, and therefore the most suitable candidates will have an entrepreneurial spirit and drive to ‘make things happens’. 

You will be responsible for creating each volunteer session as it addresses improvements or enhancements, and manage the needs of all volunteers throughout their experience.  You will have responsibility for Health and Safety, external and internal contacts and be the lead person co-ordinating all associated admin tasks to create enjoyable and productive volunteer sessions in Wandsworth.   

Another key aspect of the role will be strengthening links with businesses and organisations in the local area and beyond to develop a consistent pipeline of volunteer sessions that help improve Wandsworth parks and provide opportunities for people to give back. 

You will need to gain a good understanding of all the work we do including our plans for future improvements.  You will do this with the help of the Parks team and other collaborative service areas in Enable allowing you to design exciting output focussed activities and sessions. 

We are looking for an energetic individual who thrives on juggling multiple tasks and who can work collaboratively with a likeminded team. You will need to have a keen eye for detail, be friendly, open, enjoy spending time outdoors (in all weather) and have experience working with and managing volunteers, in a hands-on conservation or park setting.

• Responsible to the Parks Delivery Manager for all aspects of parks volunteering development and delivery across open spaces in Wandsworth.  Including Health and Safety, budget management, relationship management, business development
• To develop a relevant and interesting programme of ‘volunteer sessions’ or ‘volunteer days’ that can be delivered alongside standard maintenance programmes, and provide added value to the work that Enable carry out on behalf of Wandsworth Council. 
• Responsible for the efficient on site delivery of volunteer sessions for Enable. 
• Proactively develop existing relationships with local businesses and communities to attract a regular pipeline of groups that can access volunteering opportunities with Enable. 
• Work with colleagues in the Parks team and all other internal departments to design activities that fulfil the ambitions of Wandsworth Borough Council and wider Enable company strategic objectives. 
• Support colleagues in the Parks team with daily operational and project works where relevant, as directed by the Parks Delivery Manager. 

Skills and Experience:  

• Educated to degree level (or equivalent qualification) or appropriate experience in a directly related post.
• Experience of working in a volunteer management, coordination or programming role, or similar work delivering practical biodiversity, habitat or landscape management. 
• Proven ability to organise, plan, and manage projects effectively (including budget management, Health and Safety oversight, and environmental monitoring data). 
• Experience of managing / supporting volunteers (delivering soft/hard landscaping improvements with volunteers is desirable.)  
• Experience of developing annual outdoor educational/volunteering programmes for a wide range of participants.
• Entrepreneurial and customer service focussed, to allow the volunteer programme to develop into a sustainable, profitable and scalable service area. 
• The ability to work independently using your own initiative and prioritise effectively whilst at the same time working collaboratively as part of a team on common goals and shared projects to ensure the work programme is delivered effectively.
