Collection Development and Digital Strategy Worker
The Commonweal Trust is continuing to develop an exciting project to help activists discover and use the peace and nonviolence resources which make up the Commonweal Collection, an indeoendent specialist library housed securely at the University of Bradford..
We are recruiting for a Collection Development and Digital Strategy Worker. This role will work in collaboration with the Bradford Peace Museum and the J.B. Priestley Library, University of Bradford.
Collection Development and Digital Strategy Worker: Primary purpose of the role
To build the visibility and reach of the Commonweal Collection, and increase the usage of our resources by individuals and campaigning organisations, in order to increase nonviolent action within movements for positive social justice.
To extend the digital presence of the Commonweal Collection in order to further disseminate the ideas, tools and history of non-violent activism.
Duties will include:
· Liaising closely with the Univerity Library, including with its Special Collections archive.
· Creating user-led digital and print resources and guides to the Collection, for use by activists.
· Working in parnership with the Outreach Worker and with the Peace Museum to promote the Collection
· Working with the Commonweal Trustees to represent the Collection at relevant events, with the aim of increasing visibility of and engagement with the Collection.
· Managing the Collection by acquiring and cataloguing new resources in line with subject priorities
· Developing the Collection’s online presence, including use of social media.
· Answering internal and external enquiries
Recruiting and supporting volunteers to help with maintenane of the physical Collection
