Chefs in Schools is a young, ambitious charity that’s rapidly growing. Our mission is to improve kids' health through improving school food & food education. We focus our efforts in areas of high socio-economic deprivation, where more than a third of children are entitled to free school meals and where food-related ill health is driving further inequality. 

We support and train school kitchen teams to become food educators and to serve the best, freshest and tastiest food possible. We share our learning and resources freely, aiming to inspire and enable others to follow our lead.

We’re backed by some of the biggest names in food and have ambitious targets to ensure every child has access to incredible school food and food education,  setting them up for life with the skills and knowledge to feed themselves well.

About you and the role

This role will take our charity’s mission to a wider audience at an exciting time of development and growth. For a small communications team, we punch above our weight - regularly hitting the headlines, getting featured on agenda-setting news shows, receiving pro-bono support from renowned agencies such as Bartle, Bogle & Hegarty and Indigo Eight, and with high-profile influencers such as Prue Leith, Henry Dimbleby and Thomasina Miers in our corner.

Now we need someone with great media contacts, or the know-how to forge them, who can ensure a steady stream of coverage that gets all of our campaigns in front of our key audiences. You’ll be working on exciting projects, experience some incredible food and be surrounded by an ambitious, diverse and dynamic team, all passionate about the power great food and food education in schools has to shape and change young lives.

Key responsibilities:

● Work with the Head of Communications to develop and deliver content, media opportunities and campaigns that help us raise awareness of our cause and achieve our wider strategic goals.

● Evaluate the success of campaigns, setting and tracking key metrics, feeding learnings back into future work in a cycle of continuous improvement.

● Prepare and deliver regular, meaningful reporting on all things communications, to assist and drive strategic decision making.

● Monitor and control spending against delegated budget, clearing any anticipated variance with the Head of Communications in advance.

● Collaborate with partner organizations (including Food Foundation, School Food Matters, Impact on Urban Health and Bite Back 2030) to identify and coordinate co-campaigning opportunities.

● Develop and deliver a patron and ambassador strategy.

● Work closely with colleagues, school chefs and teachers to unearth compelling content that will connect with key audiences.

● Identify, create and secure opportunities for coverage of our charity’s mission in target publications and platforms.

● Create and deliver communications plans, blogs, press releases, campaign briefs, submissions to parliament and more.

● Build networks and contacts within mainstream, education and food-related traditional and social media platforms to secure story and content placement.

● Deal with reactive media queries to tight deadlines, overseeing reparation of briefs and Q&As.

● Oversee content creation for our social media and online platforms, How to Guides and marketing materials, ensuring brand consistency and appropriate audience targeting.

● Ensure any data collection via our website or other platforms is compliant with GDPR and any related or superseding legislation.

● Line manage and mentor two team members, with a commitment to ensuring their career progressions.

Skills & experience:

● You have interest and belief in our mission to improve kids’ health through improving food and food education in schools.

● 3+ years prior experience in a similar role.

● You are organised, methodical, strong on detail, and able to map out deadlines and plan ahead.

● Ideally you’d have some experience of line management, a ‘must’ is a commitment to developing the team.

● You have proven success designing and delivering communications plans and campaigns.

● You have experience successfully pitching stories and/or collaborations to media, journalists and influencers.

● You understand how to create engaging content - both written and visual.

● You see opportunities for coverage and know how to make them happen.

● You’re up to date on media and communications trends and able to stay ahead of the curve.

● You’re capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

● You’re confident enough to deputise for the Head of Communications when required, such as deciding which reactive media queries to pursue, presenting at events and crisis management if required.

● You can constructively critique the work of others with an emphasis on learning and continuous improvement.

● You have excellent writing skills and a confident command of English.

● Experience of education media would be nice but not required.

The recruitment process

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

 We are seeking an experienced fundraiser with a passion for our mission to equip our organisation with the financial resources needed to meet our objectives as we work to scale our fundraising by growing our charitable income across all funding streams, maximising supporter engagement and fulfilling fundraising operational duties

This is a new role, joining a small but growing Fundraising and Events Team, and having a real input into our plans and strategies for the future. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the successful candidate will oversee most fundraising income generation activity.

The Fundraising Officer will build positive relationships to secure significant income and develop new relationships with groups, business and individuals, bringing in regular and targeted income through regular donations, fundraising campaigns and events. The ideal candidate will have fundraising experience covering several areas including Individual Giving; Fundraising Appeals/Campaigns as well as experience in managing the operational aspects of fundraising (database, compliance with codes of practice and fundraising regulations, creating fundraising campaigns and ‘asks’). Through this, you will assist the whole organisation in our commitment to showing kindness, raising self-belief, and inspiring hope for the future in the individuals we support. 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising Overview

1. Develop, deliver, and monitor a fundraising strategy for The Cinnamon Trust.
2. Maximise the contributions and connections with local business and individuals.
3. Coordinate all appeals including The Big Walk across all income and media streams.
4. Research and utilise new fundraising streams and opportunities such as Payroll Giving, Legacies (with help from The Legacy Officer), in Memory Giving and Online Giving.

Supporter Engagement and Stewardship

1. Establish systems, procedures, proactive stewardship, and an engagement programme to provide the highest levels of service to The Trust’s supporters.
2.  To be responsible for thanking all supporters and managing a supporter engagement journey – ensuring that effective processes are in place and driving levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
3.  Act as the ‘first point of call’ for all fundraising volunteers and maintaining excellent communication with supporters throughout these processes, in conjunction with other teams.
4.  Develop and implement Fundraising groups across the UK

Database Management

1. To ensure efficient, appropriate data capture and analysis for the purpose of effective stewardship, fundraising and communications.
2.  Maintain data management standards, assisting with the implementation of processes and policies ensuring best practice is followed.
3.  Train other staff members to support general fundraising.
4.  Ensure all records, fundraising data and fundraising administration is kept up to date and all information is GDPR-compliant.
5.  Reconcile fundraising income with the Finance Manager, including Gift Aid claims, missed, failed payments and Direct Debit cancellations.

 Individual Giving

1. Develop an Individual Giving and Acquisition strategy that drives growth for individual giving across multi-channel campaigns and initiatives.
2. Lead the growth of CT100 monthly giving.
3. Work with the Press and PR Manager on fundraising communication and to ensure donors are kept up to date on the difference their support makes.

Fundraising Appeals and Campaigns

1. Work alongside teams and PR and Communications Manager to promote The Cinnamon Trust.
2. Establish a corporate fundraising strategy with an accompanying narrative, alongside the PR and Communications Manager.
3. Tailor campaigns and appeals for different audiences and supporters alongside PR and Communications Manager to target corporates; smaller local businesses and individuals

Staff and Volunteers

1. Support with recruiting fundraising volunteers as appropriate.
2.  Work closely with Head of Operations and PR and Communications Manager  to ensure all fundraising is coordinated.

Wider organisational responsibilities

1. Read and adhere to all policies and procedures.
2. Lead on applications to charitable trusts or statutory bodies with support from the Head of Operations.
3. Undertake responsibilities associated with being a member of The Cinnamon Trust
4. Perform all the duties required by the post in line with The Trust’s ethos and values statement, its commitment to a policy of equal opportunity and its aim of serving the community in a caring and practical manner.

About the role

This hands-on role will lead the implementation of global communications strategies for ITF’s Land and

Air Sections (LAS): Aviation, Railways, Road Transport, Tourism and Urban Transport.

The LAS Communications Manager will work closely with the industrial sections and affiliates to push forward a union-led agenda for the aviation and inland transport industries.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, this role will work collaboratively to deliver and evaluate forward-thinking communication strategies for these industrial work programs and their priority campaigns. The role will include targeting diverse audiences including transport workers in the industries, employers, allies, media, policy makers, political leaders and the wider public. The role will also play a crucial role in ensuring that section’s industrial priorities and issues are reflected and integrated in organisation-wide communications priorities and areas of focus.

Fundamental to this role will be an ability to develop expert knowledge and keep on top of policy and industrial issues facing aviation, railway, road transport, tourism and public transport workers, and effectively interpret and analyse the complex issues and challenges into communications strategies that advance workers’ rights.

You will be part of delivering solidarity and support to local, national and global disputes, building communications that reinforce the critical role transport workers in the land and air industries play, developing strategies to support union-led policies on everything from health and safety to sustainability, and raising the volume on the global struggle to advance the rights and equalities of the world’s transport workers.

The Corporate Partnerships Manager for our Fundraising team will focus and lead on:

• Managing your own portfolio of corporate partnerships
• Supporting the growth of our consultancy work stream
• Developing new corporate fundraising products and events

You will: 

• Account manage and build strong relationships with a portfolio of Corporate Partners with current value of four and five figures
• Manage a range of consultancy relationships from initial enquiry to project completion, working with colleagues across the charity
• Take a proactive role in growing the pipeline of new opportunities for the Corporate Partnerships team
• Manage incoming corporate enquiries, using your knowledge and experience to identify key opportunities
• Work with colleagues across fundraising to identify and develop new opportunities to engage corporate partners through products and events

This role is great development opportunity for someone looking for the next step in their corporate fundraising career, or for a candidate with transferable skills looking to move into the sector. You are likely to be an experienced fundraiser but could also be bringing skills from a marketing and communications or a B2B relationship management or similar background.

Senior Philanthropy Manager

As Senior Philanthropy Manager within our Fundraising Team, you will focus and lead on:

• External facing relationship manager, both building new relationships and effectively stewarding existing ones 
• Support the High Value Lead to set budgets and conduct regular reforecasting 
• Maintain an effective pipeline of philanthropy prospects 
• Ensure a high standard of impact reporting to donors 
• Work with stakeholders across RNID (particularly in the programmes teams) to ensure that propositions are compelling and develop funding cases for support and accompanying funding budgets 
• Ensure exceptional relationship management experiences for high value donors, including cultivation planning 
• Effectively deploy senior staff and volunteers across RNID to work with high value donors, including appropriate briefings and direction on relationship aims 
• Lead on operational improvements on day-to-day systems and processes 
• Directly line manage 4 staff members 

You will drive the high value supporter programme internally to RNID and externally with donors, personally working to secure gifts from individuals and trusts & foundations as well as driving excellence across your team.

You will have experience of developing and managing relationships with donors (directly and through peer-to-peer relationships) worth 6 figures and above, alongside pipeline building and proposition development.

You will have considerable experience of presenting proposals and reports to prospective and existing donors, able to translate the work of RNID to inspire high value donors and secure significant long-term gifts. 

This role will be operating at a senior level within RNID, contributing to plans and strategies, and have line management experience.

About the Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to work for Mind BLMK as part of the Fundraising & Engagement Team.

Acting as the first point of contact for all Fundraising & Comms enquiries and in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communications Strategy, this is a busy role and will require excellent stewardship and donor care skills as well as meticulous organisation and innovative thinking. As an Ambassador for Mind BLMK, you will need to have a passion for mental health and an ability to operate at all levels.

The successful applicant will generate income and support all aspects of communication and marketing, to help to maximise local support, raise awareness of our work in the community, and by providing exceptional supporter stewardship, in line with Mind BLMK’s Fundraising and Communication strategy.

Key Duties

• Act as the first point of contact for all fundraising enquiries and provide stewardship and donor care for Mind BLMK’s individual givers, corporates, groups, volunteers and other supporters of the charity, in line with the fundraising strategy.
• Act as first point of contact for all marketing, PR and event enquiries.
• Send donors bespoke information and materials to support their fundraising at Mind BLMK.
• Ensure supporter interaction points (telephone, post, email) adhere to the highest standard.
• Support existing and develop new partnerships with corporates, organisations, and individuals, to support income growth.
• Develop and maintain relationships with philanthropists and encourage legacy giving.
• Help with the co-ordination of fundraising volunteers, as requested or as appropriate.
• Help to identify and develop potential areas of fundraising growth and process improvements, in line with the Fundraising Strategy and supporting net income growth.
• Write and send outgoing thank you letters to all income streams.
• Help maintain an up-to-date and accurate supporter database, finance log and fundraising and communications materials.
• Support the implementation of marketing strategies and targeted campaigns; plan, develop, and ensure the production of multi-media communications, PR, and marketing materials and compelling stories.
• Work closely with external organisations in order to raise awareness of services available locally and increase access to provision for individuals across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Last year WheelPower provided opportunities for disabled people to access and participate in sport and activity across the country on 72,165 occasions and we are looking for a new Marketing & Communications Officer to join our team so that we can help more disabled people lead active lives.

You will be responsible for creating compelling content for digital, print and media communications that accurately reflects the WheelPower’s brand and tone of voice.

Key responsibilities

1. Manage WheelPower’s social media output

• Plan, create, write and schedule social media posts. Analyse activity and respond to comments and tagged posts
• Create paid and organic digital campaigns for social media which support events and encourage activity and engagement. Plan and design creative elements including use of images, graphics, animations and video
• Spot trends and advise on best social media content and new technologies
• Be aware and engage in social media content from other organisations that relate to disabled people and the organisations who support them. Have a good understanding of current events, sporting opportunities and re-share or comment on where appropriate
• Monitor and analyse social media activity of related organisations to identify opportunities and learnings to improve WheelPower’s online presence
• Create live social media content, be confident in photography and videography to take photos, interview participants and use camera to produce video content

2. Website

• Ensure that wheelchair users have access to the right information, in the right format, promoted in the right locations which enables them to take part in sport and physical activity
• Maintain the website to ensure that all information is up to date an accurate
• Create new webpages to support the promotion of new opportunities and activities and ensure that all pages are optimised for search engine and ensure we learn from Google Analytics and visitor behaviour

3. Marketing and communications

• Produce innovative content for the delivery of creative, successful and cost-effective marketing and media campaigns targeting online and off-line audiences.
• Target specific communications which promote our work to wheelchair users, those who support wheelchair users, disabled groups, disabled children, their families and our supporters.
• Manage and produce regular outbound communications which promote WheelPower and our partners’ events and activities.
• Maintain and develop good relationships with local and national media organisations.
• Produce high quality press releases for written media, arrange interviews with radio, and be the point of contact to organise and arrange TV media to attend our events.
• Create, monitor and evaluate paid for social media advertising and online digital marketing opportunities. Work with a given budget to produce effective and engaging Ads.

4. Content Creation

• Promote our events and activities by telling the stories of how our work has had a positive impact on the physical and mental well-being of disabled people
• Produce a range of well written and informative stories which will underpin our promotional activity. Arrange interviews and be confident with audio/visual equipment to capture positive feedback from our beneficiaries.
• Create original social media graphics, leaflets, posters and a wide variety of marketing materials to promote sport and fundraising activities.
• Work within the brand guidelines to ensure consistency.
• Work with existing and new partners in order to communicate through their networks and channels with a particular focus on disabled people’s organisations and disabled people’s user led organisations.
• Engage and create specific content for Awareness Dates and work with our partners to increase awareness of the work of WheelPower.
• Have a good understanding of video editing software and be able to create, edit and produce professional looking innovative video content.
