About the Project
We’re launching Finding Your Sunshine, a co-produced workshop project looking to create wellbeing resources for young people. It brings together young people aged 15-19 and student facilitators who have recently left education in a near peer model designed to build trust, share experiences and co-produce tools for young people.
Through a series of interactive workshops, young people will be supported to explore what mental health means to them by reflecting on their own experiences and working togethter to design a toolkit that can be used by young people in the community. These tools are created with young people and will be rooted in real experience.
Purpose of the role
As a Facilitator you will support the co-designing and delivery of our pilot project Finding Your Sunshine. This project is a series of workshops that help young people aged 15-19 to explore mental health, build wellbeing toolkits and connect with relatable and 1 supportive peers. We will support facilitators with training in how to deliver a workshop, safeguarding, youth mental health and encouraging voice and participation.
We are looking for around 7-8 volunteers for this project. We ask that facilitators are available to attend meetings to explore content for the workshops and can deliver at least three workshops in their time with us.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with facilitators on the project, the project lead and other ALBOS staff to design a two-part mental health and wellbeing workshop series
- Contribute ideas, feedback and lived experience perspectives during group discussions and reflections
- Support in creating a wellbeing toolkit that young people can access after workshops
- Deliver engaging and youth friendly workshops giving young people a basic education of mental health, wellbeing and early recognition of struggles
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and confidentiality
- Share lived experience to improve resources

The purpose of the role is to design and facilitate gardening activities at our community allotment with refugees and people seeking asylum, alongside our other gardening volunteers.
The role includes:

Our sessions are on Tuesday mornings and afternoons and Friday mornings

The Community Moderation & Safety Lead exists to ensure that our online and digital communities remain safe, boundaried, respectful, and trauma-informed, without becoming policed, silencing, or extractive.
This is not a passive moderation role. It is a systems and safety leadership role.

- Lead and support volunteer moderators and facilitators through onboarding, coaching, decision support, and ensuring consistent moderation decisions across spaces.

We are looking for volunteers to provide training and support to our mentors in prison. There may be some additional preparation and/ or administrative tasks in between volunteering days at the prison.
Our prison volunteers nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust in their prison. They help unlock the power of reading by delivering training sessions for prison mentors and offering ongoing advice, guidance and support through mentor meetings.
Volunteer recruitment dates
The closing date for applications to attend our next round of training is 3 May 2026. In some circumstances, volunteer vacancies may close early. Successful applicants will be sent interview questions in advance with notice to prepare. We will respond to all applications. Successful applicants will be invited to an interview between 4 May and 15 May 2026. Training:
You'll be given high quality training to prepare you for volunteering with Shannon Trust. This takes place over 4 training sessions and via our online training portal. We ask that volunteers aim to complete the training in one course as this means that you will be ready to start actively volunteering. Holding On Letting Go needs General Duties Volunteers to join our team on either a Saturday or Sunday. Your day would be made up of helping all of our activities run smoothly at our bereavement support days for children in Kent. Tasks to be undertaken on the day could be moulding clay balls, laminating, photocopying, washing up paint pots and interacting with children on during their lunch and break times and this would ential kicking a football with the children outside, playing lego or pool or general chatting. As Football Session Helper Volunteer you will help the facilitator/s with pre-session tasks and delivery of exciting football sessions while adhering to the FA code of conduct. We are currently seeking applications to support our newly launched football sessions and potentially coach/manage our Football Club’s (West London NHS Peer FC) team if an FA qualified coach or willing to get the qualification.

This role is working therapeutically alongside a child/young person on one of our bereavement support days on either a Saturday or Sunday in a group setting. Ideally you will have experience in working with children and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and be able to support children and young people in distress and remain calm.
You will be working therapeutically with your allocated child after receiving training. You will have a group leader who will guide you through the structure of each day. There is also a Clinical Lead who will oversee and facilitate the programme.
You will also be expected to attend a debrief at the end of each day and also complete detailed documentation on the child/ young person you have been working with.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. We pay 40pence per mile to cover your travel expenses. We will provide training (Safeguarding Children, Volunteer Induction Day and other specialist training days).
You will also have the opportunity to observe a weekend programme in action before you work with a child / young person. We will pay for your DBS check and provide you with a uniform.

Our Second Home is a youth movement that empowers migrants and refugees to flourish in the place that they call home. Our overnight activity camp for young people aged 14-18 is a chance for young people to come together and have five days of fun and excitement, supported by a dynamic and dedicated team of leaders and staff.
An OSH Leader is a supportive adult, a role model, and someone young people can feel safe being themselves around. It’s about creating a warm, fun, and consistent presence during residentials — helping young people with refugee and migrant backgrounds feel welcomed, included, and at home.
Youth Leaders for this project will be responsible for facilitating the camp, and will be directly in contact with, and responsible for, the participants. During the camp they will be ‘on duty’ full-time, meaning that they will spend the whole time with the participants, including at meals.
THIS ROLE IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN THE UK. We will arrange Zoom interviews with applicants separately.
Responsibilities:
- Interacting and forming a bond with the participants
- Creating and running fun and engaging activities for the participants
- Looking after the participants’ welfare, and ensuring that they feel cared for and secure
- Managing the participants’ behaviour and setting clear boundaries
Expectations and requirements:
- All applicants must be interviewed and be willing to provide references on request.
- Youth Leaders must set a positive example of behaviour and involvement for all participants, and adhere to the volunteer guidelines.
- Youth Leaders may be required to prepare activities for participants at the camp. If asked, this must be completed in plenty of time to allow any materials or equipment to be sourced.
- Applicants should be aged 20 or above.
- Applicants must be eligible for DBS clearance (no criminal record that prevents applicants from working with children)
- Youth Leaders must raise any safeguarding concerns swiftly and follow safeguarding procedures
- Youth Leaders must follow all Our Second Home policies and procedures of (which will be explained at the Camp training days).
- Anyone attending an OSH residential must test negative for COVID-19 prior to attending the programme, regardless of whether they have received a vaccine or not.
Essential skills:

This critical role ensures that all clinical and therapeutic support offered to members is safe, effective, culturally responsive, and aligned with the CIC’s survivor-led, values-driven mission.
As Clinical Lead, you will provide professional oversight, guidance, and liaison for all cultural and emotional therapy initiatives within the organisation. You will work closely with membership, engagement, and programme teams to ensure services are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and responsive to the needs of survivors, young people, and marginalised communities. This role blends strategic leadership, operational management, and community-facing support to build safe, transformative, and accessible therapy systems.
Experience Qualification and Requirements
Essential / Highly Valued Experience
- Professional qualification and current registration in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling, or a closely related discipline (e.g. HCPC, BACP, UKCP, BABCP, or equivalent)
- Demonstrable experience providing trauma-informed therapeutic support, with strong understanding of how trauma, culture, identity, and systemic factors affect emotional wellbeing
- Proven ability to deliver or advise on culturally competent practice with diverse cultural, ethnic, faith-based, and marginalised communities
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding frameworks, risk management, and ethical practice within clinical, voluntary, and community-based settings

- Review and approve therapy protocols, session guidelines, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures, ensuring they are clinically sound, culturally sensitive, and proportionate to the needs and risks of the service users. Ensure that all therapeutic activity complies with relevant professional regulatory standards, safeguarding legislation, and data protection requirements, including GDPR.
- Monitor member wellbeing outcomes, qualitative feedback, and service impact data to inform continuous improvement, learning, and programme development. This includes identifying trends, risks, or unmet needs and advising on appropriate service adaptations.
