This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced interim Advice Service Manager to join our client's team. We are seeking to improve the support this role provides to the service we deliver to local residents. Establishing a sustainable structure will enable us to meet increasing demand in a more efficient manner to the people who need our help the most. This is an interim post for 6 months with scope to becoming permanent.
- A new permanent Head of Advice is being recruited to join the organisation and we will want them to focus on understanding and developing the advice service and contributing to a management review of advice in their first few months. We will therefore need an experienced ASM to ensure capacity for day to day planning of supervision and service is in place.
- We have already identified that the Head of Advice role is too large for one person without additional advice management being in place.
- We are growing our volunteer team as we need to build a volunteer team for the relatively new contract to deliver services into the Slough area. This requires focussed effort to ensure supervision support is in place to both manage the existing volunteer advisers and coach and grow new volunteers. Additional supervision capacity is being sought to assist this.
- This role will primarily be office based but there are opportunities for some hybrid working each week.
You will be an inspiring leader who enjoys creating atmospheres where people can thrive and who enjoys ensuring advice is delivered efficiently and effectively. You'll be experienced in managing a team to deliver high performance while putting people at the centre of everything you do. You'll also be passionate about developing our services to offer high quality advice and support to our clients while delivering against our SLAs and contracts.
You will be effective at coaching and mentoring the people you manage, and able to develop them well, both in their current roles and for them to progress through the organisation. You will have a good understanding of advice and advice issues e.g. housing, debt, employment, benefits etc in order to support the team with complex work and QAA. Given the size of our organisation and its delivery across three local authorities.

AdviceUK makes a big impact. Its stakeholder, policy and advocacy work is carried across devolved nations as well as the UK. The Grant and Programmes Manager will support members and the wider advice sector to access grant funding to sustain their advice services to the benefit of people seeking advice. The post holder will manage grant-funded programmes and nurture positive relationships with funders so their programmes are supportive of the needs of AdviceUK members and the communities they serve.
Key responsibilities
- Project and Programme Management: Oversee the effective delivery of multiple projects and programmes, coordinating staff, partners, and stakeholders, while ensuring compliance with funder requirements and financial reporting.
- Project and Programme Development: Support the Senior Leadership Team to identify funding opportunities and developing funding bids and proposals, including tenders for contracts, ensuring these new projects integrate with AdviceUK’s strategic objectives.
- Data Management and Evaluation: Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of projects to measure performance, support decision-making, and share insights with stakeholders.
- Funder Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with grant-makers and funders to secure funding opportunities for AdviceUK and its members. Share insights to influence future funding programmes.
The Grant and Programmes Manager will be able to demonstrate at least 2 years’ experience managing multiple time-limited projects and programmes in a similar role. The successful candidate will have experience of setting up and maintaining effective processes to monitor and evaluate projects/programmes so they deliver funder requirements and agreed objectives. You will have experience of working with funders to support the development of their funding strategy and programmes, and building successful bids for project/programme funding. You will have strong knowledge of funding and grant-making processes.
You will have the ability to build strong working relationships with peers, managers, members, partners and funders, with strong analytical, decision-making and organisational skills. You will be able to communicate clearly and concisely to a range of audiences. You will be able to use online reporting tools and CRMs and embrace new technologies and ways of working.

About the role
The Housing First Team at Crisis offers open-ended, flexible, and intensive support to people who are multiply disadvantaged. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Community Fundraising Team at Dementia UK, where you will help deliver our community strategy developing new opportunities and relationships with local groups and organisations.

About the team
Part of an award-winning Communication & Policy Department, our Scottish Empty Homes Partnership (SEHP) is a Scottish Government funded project aimed at enabling private sector empty homes to be brought back into use across Scotland.
The Partnership achieves this via a mix of policy work, capacity building, training, best practice sharing and awareness raising with councils, community groups and others. It’s also home to the national Empty Homes Advice Service - a public facing advice line that anyone can call for help or to report an empty home.

The Salvation Army are partnering with the University of Stirling via the Salvation Army Centre for Addiction Services and Research to deliver a trial for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This unique and innovative social care trial will examine the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a Peer Navigator/peer support intervention for people experiencing homelessness and problems with substance use. We are now looking for a Peer Navigator (lived experience practitioner) within our Homelessness service to deliver a relationship-based intervention to those experiencing drug and alcohol problems and homelessness, providing both practical and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities: The role of Peer Navigator (Lived Experience Practitioner) is fundamental to The Salvation Army’s desire to help vulnerable clients achieve positive outcomes and as such you will be passionate, target driven, dynamic and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of services for vulnerable clients in a competitive climate. You will also champion excellence in terms of ensuring our clients are central to our services and successful individual outcomes are achieved.
There is a requirement to work flexibly to meet the needs of participants/client, due to the nature of this particular role, including the outreach element. The usual pattern of work will be Monday-Friday with hours between 8am-6pm. However, some working outside these hours may be requested, depending on the needs of the people you will be supporting. Work life balance will be taken into consideration and individual needs can be discussed with line managers.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:
- Their own personal (not family related) experience of homelessness and/or problem alcohol/drug use.
- A passion for supporting vulnerable people, with strong previous experience of working successfully in a similar role, and good knowledge of drug and alcohol issues including harm reduction models.
- Genuine compassion and non-judgemental attitude for people in need with challenging lives.
- Knowledge of the main support needs of people experiencing homelessness and other forms of vulnerability, including problem substance use and challenges with the welfare benefit system.
Appointment subject to satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK and Enhanced with the barred list DBS adult workforce Disclosure check.
We recognise that many of the individuals applying for the Peer Navigator roles may have previous criminal convictions. Those in Safeguarding and HR within The Salvation Army will work closely with the study team/recruitment panels to ensure that individuals are provided with support throughout the process of undertaking the PVG and DBS disclosures. This is important because we recognise that the legislative disclosure processes can be personally and professionally challenging and we aim to be trauma informed in our recruitment processes.

The Partnership achieves this via a mix of policy work, capacity building, training, best practice sharing and awareness raising with councils, community groups and others.
It’s also home to the national Empty Homes Advice Service - a public facing advice line that anyone can call for help or to report an empty home.

The West Pennines More Nature Partnership is looking for a motivated and driven person to oversee the project team and the management of the project’s Development Phase.
