Purpose of role
To plan and oversee QSA’s income generation and communications work. To strategically support the success of QSA as part of the leadership team.
Role overview
This is a linchpin role for QSA. We are looking for a hard-working, experienced and creative fundraiser. Our head of fundraising & communications oversees all of our income generation portfolio, including charitable trusts, public bodies, individual giving, and fundraising events.
Above all, we are looking for a candidate who believes in QSA’s mission and values, who can convey this passion through our fundraising and communications.
We recognise that the current fundraising climate is challenging. As a charity, we have a sizable and engaged network of supporters and an excellent reputation for delivering innovative services.
The head of fundraising & communications is also responsible for overseeing QSA’s communications output, ensuring we build great relationships and successfully share our impact, stories and expertise across a variety of channels.

Duties & responsibilities
Income generation
- To design and develop a fundraising strategy for QSA, incorporating a wide range of approaches, including statutory sources, charitable trusts, individual donations, legacies, earned income from training, and event fundraising.
- To set clear targets based on previous trends, and realistic aspirations for growth.
- To ensure all fundraising activity sits within the required legislative framework and complies with best practice, especially regarding donor consent.
- To ensure accurate financial information is presented within fundraising materials.
- To ensure that QSA fundraising applications are supported by up-to-date evidence of need, gained from relevant research and policy developments.
- To ensure that QSA fundraising applications are supported by up-to-date evidence of impact, gained from internal monitoring systems.
- To identify and lead major funding applications.
- To build strong and warm relationships with funders and donors of QSA.
- To ensure QSA is compliant with all grants and contracts and provides accurate and timely monitoring reports back to funders.

Communications, marketing, media, brand, digital
- To design and develop a communications and marketing strategy for QSA, incorporating a wide range of approaches across a number of appropriate channels and platforms.
- To understand best practice in charity communications and marketing and use this to promote the work of QSA.
- To manage QSA’s approach to reputational risk through our communications output.
- To oversee the development of the content, structure and key messages of QSA’s online communications channels; specifically our website, email marketing and varied social media platforms.
- To oversee the digital marketing development of QSA, ensuring we have clear systems and protocols to analyse, track, measure and review our output.
- To understand the benefit of and risks of using AI in our fundraising and comms output and to be part of the strategic leadership around emerging best practice.
- To oversee diverse and evolving ways to communicate, using podcasts, videos, data, photos as well as high quality copy.
- To oversee media relations and protocols for media engagement for QSA.
- To develop proactive and strategic communications responses very quickly or under pressure to manage situations of risk or opportunity for QSA.
- To oversee and develop the QSA brand, ensuring it communicates our core purpose and is consistent with our values.
- To oversee our duty of care to our participants who share their stories, ensuring we approach this with due care, sensitivity and respect for their autonomy, and that we have sufficient safeguards in place to be attentive to their wellbeing.
Leadership
- To work collaboratively with the leadership team to support the strategic development of QSA. To provide materials that support QSA’s trustees to undertake their governance tasks.
- To work alongside the head of finance to provide accurate and timely quarterly reports for the trustees’ finance & fundraising committee.
- With the head of finance, to be responsible for regular reconciliation of finance and fundraising records and for annual audit processes.
- To work alongside leadership colleagues in all operational matters. To offer ideas for service development, to identify resource needs, and to share strategies to support team wellbeing.

Experience
- Significant experience of charity fundraising from a wide range of sources, especially charitable trusts and individual donors.
- Experience of communications activities/digital development is highly desirable.

Main terms and conditions of employment
- QSA uses the local government pay scales for salaries. Your salary will be on NJC scale point 41-44, which starts at £56,463 (including London weighting) for a full-time/36 hours post. All appointments are made at bottom of scale.
- This is a permanent position.
- This post can be offered as a role to be worked between four and five days per week, so 28 hours to 36 hours per week. We pride ourselves on our flexible working practices.
- Leave entitlement for a full-time post is 25 days per year, plus 8 bank holidays, with the leave year running from January to December. This increases by 2 days after 3 years of service and a further 3 days after 5 years of service. QSA closes between Christmas and New Year and days falling within this period are not taken from your leave entitlement.
- QSA pays an additional 6% of salary into the QSA group personal pension, with a 2% staff contributory element.
- We have probationary periods of six months and the period of notice is 1 week during the probationary period and 8 weeks on its completion.
- QSA has a union recognition agreement with Unite although staff are welcome to join any trade union or none.
- This is a hybrid role. We see the benefits of being in the office with colleagues on a regular basis, and consider 2-3 days per week in person to be ideal for this role.

Fundraising Database Manager
Permanent, Part-time, (3 days a week, 0.6 FTE)

The Fundraising Database Manager reports to the Chief Executive and will be responsible for managing the charity’s CRM (Donorfy) and work with colleagues to ensure the smooth operational delivery of fundraising processes and activities.
The role will lead on supporter data management and income administration, ensuring accurate and GDPR-compliant records. This includes maintaining supporter and beneficiary databases, managing integrations between systems (including Donorfy, mondayDB and third-party platforms).
You will oversee donation processing and income reconciliation across all fundraising streams, including Gift Aid management, Stripe integration and monthly reconciliations with Finance. You will support effective donor stewardship, alongside collaboration with fundraising team. You will deliver data extraction, reporting and analysis, producing regular income reports, KPI dashboards, forecasts and campaign analysis to support strategic decision-making. You will provide targeted data sets for fundraising and marketing activity, track performance, and support income planning.
You will also support events and campaigns, manage event data, registrations, sponsorship tracking and reporting, including imports from platforms such as JustGiving. Alongside this, you will ensure robust compliance, risk management and due diligence, managing consent, data retention, audits and compliant prospect research. Finally, you will play a key role in operations and stewardship, supporting major donor, corporate and trust relationships through effective systems, templates and processes, managing pipelines and moves management, and embedding fundraising best practice across the team.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience of managing a CRM, either in fundraising or in a business using client and customer data. You will be a problem-solver, with experience of identifying and delivering on improvements for operational systems and processes.
You will have excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a range of stakeholders and influence at a senior level. You will have excellent IT skills, with experience of using data analytics tools within Microsoft and other software packages. You will have experience of developing and successfully embedding efficient operational processes. You will have a robust understanding of data compliance including GDPR, PECR and the Fundraising Code of Practice. You will have a commitment to the wellbeing of children and to the organisation's vision and mission.
Desirably, you will have experience using Donorfy (CRM database) and/or PowerBi. You will have experience of integrating Donorfy with other platforms (e.g. mondayDB, MailChimp, Microsoft, payment platforms such as CAFDonate or Just Giving). You will have experience of working in a fundraising department and/or on fundraising campaigns.

About you

You will have the ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams during proposal preparation, working with partners and colleagues in multiple locations. You have experience in and very good understanding of programme design and meeting institutional and corporate donor requirements. You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. You are capable of building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders; you are a positive collaborator and a strong team player.
About the role
The postholder will lead on CARE’s largest and most complex bids (particularly commercial contracts) including multi-country, multi partner submissions with budgets in excess of £20m. Working from scoping through to proposal submission. They will also play an important role in ensuring quality programme design reviewing and providing expert advice on bids as well as establishing, adjusting and embedding processes to ensure high quality programme design. Finally, they will support our strategy to diversify our funding sources working closely with our Partnership & Philanthropy Team.

Main Purpose of the Role
The Fundraising and Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in driving Reef-World’s mission to protect and sustainably manage coral reefs and coastal ecosystems worldwide. This hands-on, senior position combines leadership of the charity’s fundraising and communications function with strategic oversight, ensuring that Reef-World maximises its global reach, secures sustainable income, and delivers compelling, mission-aligned messaging across all channels. This position reports directly to the Directors.
You will lead the development and delivery of income generation strategies while overseeing multi-channel communications, digital engagement, media relations, and brand stewardship. You will manage a small, dynamic team of staff, consultants, and volunteers, coordinating resources to support programme delivery and ensuring high-quality outputs that enhance both conservation impact and fundraising success.
You will join a remote, globally distributed, and diverse team, collaborating across multiple countries and cultures to advance Reef-World’s mission. You will be given autonomy to lead the fundraising activities of the organisation and will be encouraged to try new things and take ownership of the fundraising portfolio as a whole. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, proactive, versatile professional to shape the charity’s growth, profile, and influence in marine conservation on an international scale.
Our Fundraising Landscape
We have had steady year-on-year growth in income since we were founded, with a shortfall recorded last year. The shortfall in income for the last financial year is down to our main donor, the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) not being able to provide funds due to the global economic and political climate. This grant source is naturally very unpredictable in nature, however, we had previously successfully secured a year-on-year budget from UNEP since 2009. You can see our financial history on our Charity Commission listing. Our financial year runs from June to May. For June 2024 to May 2025, our fundraising target is £425,000. We have secured £240,000 of this, and around a further £60,000 is unconfirmed but likely. However, we have previously successfully secured a year-on-year budget from UNEP since 2009.
So far in the current financial year, 65% of our income is grant income, corporate sector and commercial partnerships make up 17%, individual giving is 7%, and 11% of income comes from programme’s products and services.
This role is replacing a Development Manager who joined in March 2024 and created this as a new role. Through her leadership and guidance we have strong foundations across all fundraising streams to build on. We would like the post holder to maintain our excellent track record for grant funding while further establishing and growing new sources of income, especially unrestricted income. We’re open to exploring most kinds of income generation but are particularly interested in exploring corporate fundraising and major donor opportunities and have good foundations upon which to build here.

The King’s Maudsley Partnership for Children and Young People will transform understanding and treatment of young people’s mental health through a unique collaboration between specialist clinicians from the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and leading academics at King’s College London. Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement (P&A) provides a fundraising and alumni engagement function in support of King’s College London. About The Role
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Philanthropy manager for Trusts and Foundations to join the King’s Maudsley Partnership (KMP) fundraising team and secure significant long-term philanthropic investment for children and adolescent mental health research and treatment.
The King’s Maudsley Partnership will have its home at Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People in south London, opening in early 2026. The partnership brings together clinical and academic excellence in a unique collaboration between the UK’s largest NHS provider of specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (the Trust), and King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), the leading child and adolescent mental health research team in Europe – with Maudsley Charity as its charity partner alongside other leading philanthropists.
The Centre has been partly funded by philanthropy via a successful capital campaign secured in excess of £30m, and this role will work with the new Director of King's Maudsley Partnership, Professor Philip Shaw, and colleagues across the Trust, IoPPN, Maudsley Charity and KCL fundraising department to ensure philanthropic income continues to be a significant driver of change.
The partnership is local, national and international in scale and ambition. Serving a local population which is among the most ethnically, socially and economically diverse in the world, our mission is to find new ways to predict, prevent and treat mental health disorders for Children and Young People (CYP) and then maximise translation of research and evidence into improved services locally, nationally, and globally. The ambition of the partnership and quality of partners attracts leading clinicians, scientists, allied professionals and students from all over the world.
As Senior Philanthropy Manager for Trusts and Foundations, you will lead on cultivating and stewarding high‑value relationships with charitable trusts and foundations to secure six and seven-figure gifts. The role will focus on developing compelling proposals grounded in evidence and impact, managing a robust pipeline of donors and prospects, and ensuring timely reporting that builds long‑term confidence in our work. You will take a leading role in navigating and maximising the value of a complex institutional and multifaceted partnership, managing multiple stakeholder relationships with professionalism and strategic insight. By aligning funder priorities with our mission to transform children and young people’s mental health, you will drive significant philanthropic income that fuels innovation and accelerates change.
The role is employed by King’s College London and reports to the Associate Director, KMP and will work across the partnership where necessary. We operate a unique and powerful model, which brings together fundraising for our partnership across major and principal gifts, and trusts & foundations, with a developing portfolio of mid-level and corporate supporters.
Our Director leads the team and represents fundraising at the highest levels including reporting at various boards and committees.
This is a hybrid role. However, postholders will be expected to spend at least two days per week onsite at King’s or Maudsley Campus/Pears Maudsley Centre when the Centre opens in 2026,
This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week but candidates wishing to work a 28hr week will be considered). You will be offered an indefinite contract.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience in fundraising from trusts, foundations and statutory funders, ideally in the Higher Education or health/research sector, with a focus on six and seven figure donations.
- Experience of growing a fundraising pipeline, with an emphasis on building new relationships with previously ‘cold’ prospects and managing a cultivation through to solicitation and stewardship.
- A proven track record of using initiative to secure major grants and donations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong powers of persuasion.
- Experience in preparing budgets, monitoring project expenditure and delivering clear impact reports
Desirable criteria
- Experience managing complex institutional partnerships
- Knowledge of the UK children’s mental health landscape

The Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Associate Director of Philanthropy, UK, the Philanthropy Manager will support the implementation of the UK Philanthropy team’s strategy, with a focus to identify, establish and develop new and existing high value relationships with individuals who have the capacity to support IRC at a five and six figure level. This is an exciting role working with senior stakeholders across IRC, in the UK and internationally, to cultivate and steward relationships with philanthropists to effectively solicit multi-year gifts to fund high-impact programmes that will deliver transformative change for IRC clients across the world.
As part of this, the Philanthropy Manager will:
· Develop and implement initiatives to identify, cultivate and solicit gifts from donors in the major gift range of £10,000 and above, both in partnership with the Director of Philanthropy and through account management of a discreet prospect portfolio
· Work closely with the Director of Philanthropy and the research function to identify and cultivate positive relationships with existing donors and new prospects to significantly grow our major donor pipeline
· Manage a portfolio of major donors through various personalised approaches, including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, events and written and verbal communications
· Develop personalised donor stewardship plans with the aim of increasing their engagement and uplifting their support to achieve the revenue target for the UK Philanthropy team and the overall revenue target for the International Philanthropy team
· Lead on gift management, reporting and proposal development for new prospects and existing donors, ensuring timely and accurate communications that match the individual’s requirements
· Identify and deliver unique stewardship and cultivation opportunities for donors
· Maintain thorough and up to date files and records relating to major donors
· Maintain strong knowledge and understanding of IRC’s work in the UK and around the world
