Rethink Mental Illness and Mental Health UK are looking for an experienced and passionate Head of Corporate Partnerships to join our Fundraising Team.

The Fundraising team is a dynamic group of fundraisers all passionate about raising money for our life-changing work in the mental health and mental illness space. We have a diverse portfolio of income streams across Events, Community, Individual Giving, Legacies, In-Memoriam, Philanthropy, Trusts and Grants, and Partnerships.

Sitting within the External Affairs directorate, we work across both Mental Health UK and Rethink Mental Illness enabling us to harness the collective power of both organisations and deliver nearly £7million to support their work.

How you will make a difference

We are looking for an experienced Head of Corporate Partnerships to join our passionate team of fundraisers to develop and implement an effective partnerships strategy for Mental Health UK and Rethink Mental Illness. Their work will drive income growth and brand awareness, deepen relationships with existing partners and proactively engage new partners.  

This role is suited to an experienced charity partnerships professional who is keen to make their mark in the mental health sector. As a senior leader, you will work collaboratively across Fundraising, Senior Leadership and the wider departments of Mental Health UK, Rethink Mental Illness and other charities in the Mental Health UK group. You will effectively lead and nurture a growing team to evolve our partnership offering, create new and dynamic partnerships and drive an ambitious pipeline with the potential to change the mental health landscape in the business community and beyond.

We need an events manager who is adept at managing projects and events, working with our fundraisers and encouraging our supporters to get involved in our events such as our annual trek, the prestigious Care Sector Ball, and all the other events we’re involved in. The right person will have the confidence and persistence it takes to persuade, cajole, prod and encourage fundraisers to do as much as they can to raise funds for us. You need to be proficient at managing the admin that goes with events, including using fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Enthuse to engage with fundraisers and provide regular reports on the income raised. We will also need you to organize hotel, travel, conference arrangements for the team.

You must be based in England, to help us keep travel costs down as much as possible. The role is home based, with travel to fundraising events, conferences and network meetings, and with travel every 10 weeks or so to central London for team meetings.

 You must be a determined self-reliant professional though also a team player, to effectively coordinate and execute events and other activities, and be passionate about events management and fundraising to enable us to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

To be successful in this role you must have:

• Experience in event management, preferably in the charity sector, and be able to demonstrate a strong track record in fundraising and achieving financial targets.
• Creativity and confidence with a strong sense of determination willing to persevere to engage and encourage potential fundraisers.

• The ability to build professional relationships, tell the charities story in order to engage supporters and remain upbeat and positive when in challenging situations.

  The willingness to get stuck in, to attend events to cheer our fundraisers to the finishing line and to encourage others to take part.

The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House is a leading provider of palliative care services in Norfolk. We are an independent charity who delivers innovative and specialist rehabilitative therapy, end of life care and bereavement services.

Following a thorough review of our current marketing and fundraising practice, the Hospice is looking for an innovative and forward thinking Content and Media Officer to work as part of our Marketing and Communications Team. The post holder will be joining the charity at an exciting time of brand repositioning, which you will help to facilitate internally.

You will update existing material, generate novel work and identify new ways to reach audiences, appealing to group interests by creating engaging material. ​The Development Officer will be responsible for a comprehensive regular giving programme, face-to-face fundraising and the nascent programme of careers and mentoring opportunities connecting current students, recent graduates and established alumni.

Girls Not Brides is the only global organisation uniquely focused on creating and sustaining a worldwide movement to end child marriage and ensuring that this movement leads to tangible change for the girls at risk or affected by the practice. We are a network of over 1,400 civil society organisations in over 100 countries working in partnership to end child marriage. Our vision is a world without child marriage where girls and women enjoy equal status with boys and men and are able to achieve their full potential in all aspects of their lives. Our vision challenges deeply embedded social norms that harm the lives of girls, women and their communities.

The Director of External Engagement at Girls Not Brides devises and oversees implementation of fundraising, communications, advocacy & campaigns strategy to help realise Girls Not Brides’ vision of a world free of child marriage, where girls and women enjoy equal status to boys and men and can fulfil their potential in every aspect of their lives. Uses leadership skills and extensive experience of global and local fundraising, communications, campaigns and advocacy to support the organisation’s strategic objectives - movement building, influencing and learning - to empower others, opening spaces for voices to be raised, and drive transformational change. Works as part of a globally-dispersed and diverse team, and closely with members, National Partnerships and coalitions. Contributes to the organisational strategy as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

Strategic planning and organisational leadership

• Lead the implementation of the Secretariat’s communications, advocacy and fundraising  strategies which deliver on the vision, mission and goals set out in the Secretariat and Partnership strategies, 2022-25.
• Set out how the team will use creative campaigning tactics, targeted policy and advocacy,impactful communications and fundraisning  to help build the movement to end child marriage, influence those with power to make change, and share evidence and learning.
• Contribute to broad organisational leadership and strategic development, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Lead the communications, advocacy and fundraising teams, with up to five direct line reports, plus dotted line responsibilities.
• Responsible for planning and monitoring the directorate’s budget 
• Advise and inform the CEO, Board and other key stakeholders around key communications, advocacy and campaigns moments.

Empowered communications

• Support the globally-dispersed Girls Not Brides communications team to work with members to find and tell stories of girls’ lives and of the latest evidence and learning that exemplify the realities of child marriage and the solutions; demonstrate that change is needed, and change is happening.
• Work with the Communications team to leverage a wide range of communications channels, including media, website, social media, and events to convey the key messages and findings from Girls Not Brides’ work in a way that enables those without power to be heard, and convinces those with power to support positive change for girls. 
• Oversee and explore ways of landing Girls Not Brides stories and policy and campaign asks at the local, national, regional and international level in a way that is context specific and impactful. Be creative and unconventional in your use of content and tactics to reach, engage and influence target audiences.
• Lead the communications team in inspiring audiences to support and join the movement to end child marriage and Girls Not Brides, through documenting and showcasing the results of collective action and developing compelling calls to collective action.
• Oversee the work of the communications team to hone and harness the potential of the Girls Not Brides brand, history, and global network to inspire change and increase member engagement.

Effective advocacy

• Oversee and facilitate direct and indirect engagements with policymakers and decision makers at the local, national, regional and global level, as well as those who influence and advise to take action to end child marriage.
• Lead on ensuring strong synergies between advocacy at national, regional and global levels, coordinatoring between advocacy team members in the regions and the global advocacy team.
• Lead global stakeholder engagement including working with relevant UN organisations, sector leaders, and thematic international organisations to ensure that child marriage is reflected in their policies, budgets and programming.  
• Lead Girls Not Brides sector integration agenda, maintain strong existing partnerships, and identify new allies to enhance broader sector integration of ending child marriage.
• Support colleagues, National Partnerships and members to develop and use advocacy skills, and monitor, analyse, influence and respond to relevant legislative and policy opportunities at the global, regional and national level.
• Oversee production and dissemination of policy and advocacy content including fact sheets, policy briefs, updates, and position statements. 
• Oversee trainings and development programmes for the secretariat and global partnership, including webinars and learning series.

Transformational campaigns

• Grow and strengthen the movement, harness its potential, ensure Girls Not Brides connects, empowers and amplifies diverse groups around the world united behind a shared cause.
• Oversee Girls Not Brides’ work with local groups, activists, girls and their families to use campaigning and engagement to shift socio-cultural attitudes, including among elders and community leaders, about how girls can and should expect to be treated, respected and empowered.
• Work with the Adovocay team  to identify and plan for at least four big moments in the year, either at the global, regional or national level where members of the wider movement can come together to collaborate for change, engage young activists, and support and learn from each other.
• Work closely with the Development and Outreach team to support and deploy champions, ambassadors, youth leaders and high-profile influencers to advance the cause of ending child marriage.

Impactful fundraising

• Direct and lead the implementation of Girls Not Brides’ global and regional fundraising strategy for the secretariat and the wider movement, to ensure a diverse and sustainable income portfolio.
• Lead the creation and diversification of a business development plan, targeting new actors such as businesses, high-net-worth individuals, legacies, etc.
• Lead the cultivation and strengthening of donor relationships, alongside the CEO, to bring in new funding and grant renewals, build donors as champions. 
• Oversee and ensure long term projection for income, also overseeing pipeline and prospecting and directing the development of concept notes and proposals.
• Oversee the development of a case for support, multi-year funding opportunities.
• Make recommendations to the CEO in relation to funding decisions, and sign off documents for donors in line with delegated responsibilities.
• Close liaison with CEO, Director of Operations and Finance to help develop annual budgets, targets and a sustainable growth model.
• Direct the development of donor communications and assets, including but not limited to annual reports and promotional materials. 
• Assume responsibility for quality assurance on donor communications and collaborations.
• Contribute to the finance team’s work on contracting and compliance.

Influential outreach and visibility

• Lead the development of a strategic approach to building the secretariat’s visibility, partnerships and profile.
• Oversee the identification of strategic opportunities (including trips, events and media appearances) to profile the voices of Girls Not Brides’ internal leaders and external stakeholders to advocate on ending child marriage.
• Oversee the planning and convening of Girls Not Brides’ events and meetings calendar, as well as the high-profile visits to high prevalence and donor countries by the CEO, Champions, and Trustees.
• Alongside the CEO, lead and deepen the partnerships with the Girls First Fund and VOW for Girls at the global level.
• Oversee and lead the development and outreach team’s work to support and deploy champions, advisors, ambassadors, youth leaders and high-profile influencers to advance the cause of ending child marriage across sectors (including politics, business, grassroots activists and NGOs).
• Represent Girls Not Brides externally and further cultivate Girls Not Brides’ network of funders, supporters, Champions and Advisors.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential experience

• Significant professional experience in a comparable role at a senior level in the not-for-profit sector, international/intergovernmental organisation or social enterprise.
• Degree-level qualification in a relevant area such as public policy, development studies, international relations, communications, human rights or gender issues or proven experience in a related field plus extensive relevant professional training.
• Proven experience of working with coalitions and the ability to inform international policy discussions with the realities of grass-roots work.
• A proven track record of successfully developing and implementing a fundraising strategy and raising significant levels of funding for an organisation.
• Broad experience in communications, development and outreach work, building and nurturing strong working relationships with a range of strategic partners.
• Experience of partnership building with stakeholders such as government ministries, NGOs, foundations, grass-roots groups, and champions of social change.
• Proven experience of working with coalitions and the ability to inform international communications with the realities of grass-roots work.
• Experience of successfully managing teams, including geographically dispersed staff. 

Essential skills and knowledge

• Advanced and demonstrable understanding of strategic planning, resource mobilisation and communications.
• Demonstrated ability and understanding of how to deliver effective advocacy and/or communications and/or fundraising, development and outreach strategies on global social issues that align with and further an organisation’s strategic goals.

We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Foundations Officer preferably from the North of England to join the fundraising team at the Batten Disease Family Association (BDFA).

The BDFA is the only patient organisation in the UK for families affected by Batten disease, a rare and terminal neurodegenerative condition that affects children and young adults. The BDFA offers informed guidance and support to families and the professionals who work with them, as well as actively raising awareness, and promoting research into the management of Batten disease to improve patient care pathways and ultimately find a cure.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation, which has grown to offer additional support services for families affected by Batten disease and to implementing a long-term strategy to develop its advocacy, education and research capabilities. We’re looking for an individual who has the experience and skills to manage and nurture relationships with our existing funders from charitable trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies, ensuring they feel inspired by our work and the patients and families we support.

The role will incorporate managing a sizeable portfolio of Trusts and Foundations through excellent stewardship, and to build on this strong foundation, developing and submitting winning funding proposals to create a high-quality pipeline of new funding opportunities. The successful candidate will work as part of the Fundraising team, under the guidance of our Chief Executive Officer to continue our strategy to diversify income through this key funding stream.

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

- Experience and a proven track record of successful Trusts and Foundations income generation.

- Demonstratable experience in researching potential Trust funders, submitting compelling proposals, securing funding and project managing successful bids through to completion of the grant award.

- A background in report writing and demonstrating grant impact whilst being able to build relationships with funders and individual/major donors.

- Experience of providing excellent supporter care and building mutually beneficial long-term relationships with funders.

- Experience of targeting large grant-making bodies and securing 5-6 figure grants

- Expert knowledge of fundraising landscape, particularly Trusts & Foundations.

This job requires a motivated individual who has a passion for all those within our Batten community and a strong desire to support the development and financial growth of the BDFA. The role is full time (35 hours per week) and is home based with occasional travel to Yorkshire (where the CEO is based) and around the UK to meet donors and support fundraising events.

Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia and Alzheimer’s disease research charity, is seeking a Head of Philanthropy to lead the organisation’s work with their philanthropy audiences including major donors, trusts and foundations.

Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) works to encourage debate, drive collaboration, and build partnerships across academia and industry that increase the probability of transforming discoveries from the lab bench into treatments for people living with dementia. Since funding their first project in 1998, the charity has now committed over £171 million of funding for ground-breaking dementia research.
As part of the ARUK Leadership Team, the Head of Philanthropy plays a pivotal role in leading the charity to accelerate progress towards a cure. Working closely with the senior stakeholders across ARUK, the post-holder will lead the organisation’s philanthropy work by defining and implementing the team’s strategy and ensuring that these plans support the charity’s vision, mission and strategic objectives. 
The Head of Philanthropy will lead a team of approximately 8-10 people. The role holder will also personally lead on relationships with a small group of ARUK’s most generous supporters, and prospective supporters, across Philanthropy audiences.
The ideal candidate will have experience of managing a philanthropy team to deliver significant income growth, as well as demonstrable knowledge and experience of major gift fundraising. They will have a background in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and a proven track record in establishing, monitoring, and achieving ambitious fundraising targets.

Alongside excellent communication and planning skills, they will be highly motivated and target driven as well as being a strong team player who can work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. They will also possess strong negotiation, influencing and decision-making skills, with an ability to present arguments logically and confident and to inspire confidence and respect at all levels.

The British Ceramics Biennial (BCB) is seeking to appoint a Development Manager to manage the formulation and implementation of BCB’s fundraising strategy to support the delivery of existing programmes as well as new initiatives.

The Development Manager will work with the close-knit BCB team to identify and take forward funding opportunities and analyse data to inform fundraising decision-making in support of BCB’s vision and mission.

Prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines and opportunity to be part of a small, dynamic team, the Executive Assistant plays a key role bringing department leads together, developing papers and information for Trustees, liaising with the research community, supporting the fundraising team in their daily tasks and ensuring the highest level of accountability in the Governance of the charity. 

The role has a number of areas to fulfil: supporting research, supporting the fundraising team and supporting the Chief Executive to help the charity achieve it's ambitious operational strategy, alongside achieving it's aim of finding the cause and a cure for multiple system atrophy.

MSA Trust is a UK and Ireland-wide charity, supporting people with a life-limiting rare neurodegenerative disease. It has home based staff around the UK and a small office in central London. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the CEO and senior team to undertake their roles. 

The Bike Project (TBP) is looking for a Marketing Executive to join the Fundraising & Marketing Team.  This role will focus on delivering marketing activity to help drive fundraising donations, increase income through retail sales, and boost engagement with our audiences. 

This is a key growth area for TBP, and the post holder will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing across a range of channels, including social media, email, search, and advertising. We are always exploring new avenues for obtaining fundraising income, and this role will work closely with the Marketing Manager to execute marketing campaigns that achieve this goal. The Bike Project has an entrepreneurial culture stemming from our online and physical bike shop, which raises considerable income annually. This post will contribute to encouraging sales through targeted marketing activities. At a key development time in the Marketing function of our organization, it’s an exciting period where we are exploring new opportunities for driving fundraising, income, and engagement. The post holder will be encouraged to harness their creativity to generate new ideas and work collaboratively with the team to execute them.

A Partner in Education (APIE) is a small charity established in 2009 to support education development in Rwanda and make a positive difference to children’s futures. APIE has developed teacher training programmes in Early Childhood Education and Education for Positive Peace. We also collaborate closely with our partner school, Umubano Academy, which has become a centre of excellence for teaching and learning, as well as a beacon school for peace in Rwanda.

We are looking for an Operations and Communication Manager who is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children in Rwanda to join our small, dedicated team. The post holder will work remotely full time, with occasional in-person meetings and the opportunity to visit our projects in Rwanda. This UK based role is at the centre of our small international charity and has two significant parts:

i) Managing the general administration and operations of APIE in the UK, including systems for governance, communications, finances and compliance.

ii) To deliver our internal and external communications strategy, write and disseminate publicity material, and respond to inquiries from the public and media.

We are looking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to lead our team of dedicated professionals in an ambitious strategy to grow and develop our services across the UK.  Ideally the successful candidate will have some first-hand experience of neurodivergent children, combined with a knowledge of the education systems in place across the UK.  Experience of fundraising within a membership organisation and a track record in the effective use of technology will also be very useful.  This role will be supported by engaged Trustees, within an active community of families and schools, who recognise that the ability to empathise with young people with high learning potential and their families is at the heart of this role.

As this role supervises staff who regularly work with children, it requires a criminal records check.

Main objectives of the role are to:

Main responsibilities for the CEO

Strategy

• To collect and maintain information and evidence that contributes to the strategic planning of the charity.
• To work with the Board of Trustees (and other staff members and advisers as appropriate) to develop the strategic objectives and the strategic plan for the charity.
• To implement and periodically review the business plan and ensure all operational activities support the strategic objectives.

Management and Administration

• To motivate and develop the team of professional staff.
• To provide a structure of line management and support for all staff.
• To recruit and terminate staff in line with the charity’s policies and values.
• To oversee the work of contracted companies and individuals with the support of the Deputy CEO.
• To provide and promote structures for volunteers to support high learning potential.

Financial Management

• To manage the charity’s financial resources effectively, in line with the agreed annual budget.
• To maintain the charity’s compliance with financial bodies such as HMRC.
• To implement a robust income-generation strategy as agreed with the Board of Trustees
• To oversee the fundraising activities being implemented for the charity.
• To actively promote and ensure financial support for disadvantaged families to enable access to the charity’s services.

Quality of Services and Products

• To implement and oversee the development of high-quality services and products that are appropriate for the charity’s beneficiaries.

Marketing and Advocacy

• To act as Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead for the charity.
• To coordinate with the Trustee with Responsibility for Safeguarding and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads as appropriate to ensure best practice in safeguarding throughout the organisation.
• To regularly interact with children and young people in support of the charity's strategic objectives

• To lead by example and be part of a dedicated team to implement the strategic objectives of the charity.

This officer will also work alongside a strong Fundraising team and share the space with the Books and Design teams.

The successful candidate will have a knowledge of and experience in fundraising, perhaps in a broader fundraising role that has touched on trusts and foundations. You will have a strong desire to develop your skills in grant giving, as well as a desire to make a difference to disadvantaged children and families.
This is a hybrid role, based from their offices in Battersea, London. It has a salary of £30k - £35k.
