About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of our Active Journeys South and East team covering projects across London and South East, where you will help shape healthier, happier communities through walking, wheeling, and cycling. 

As Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and oversight of behaviour change and engagement projects, as well as leading and supporting the delivery team. You’ll be at the heart of creating positive change, ensuring projects are cost-efficient, timely, and impactful. 

You will be involved with exciting projects such as Wheels4Me London and Moveability (East Sussex) funded by the Motability Foundation. Exploring how cities can improve accessibility by involving disabled people in decision-making, with the goal of creating more inclusive and equitable transportation systems. 

This role will require travel and work at various locations across London and the Southeast area as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. 

About you

You will bring a solid understanding of active travel and the barriers faced by communities experiencing inequalities, alongside knowledge or practical experience in behaviour change concepts and approaches. 

You will have demonstrable experience in: 

• Managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, particularly those with a strong emphasis on community engagement.
• Facilitating workshops and delivering presentations to diverse audiences, both in person and online.
• Communicating effectively across a range of formats and with varied audiences. 

You are a skilled problem solver with excellent organisational abilities, capable of managing and prioritising work across multiple projects to meet deadlines and targets.

• Lead and mentor colleagues, providing guidance and support both in-person and remotely.

This role has two core functions:

1. Direct responsibility for managing and growing our existing social enterprises, including community centres, facility hire, and handyperson services.

2. Supporting and influencing enterprise development across the wider charity—helping other teams to take a more enterprising approach to services such as our Coffee Cart, paid-for corporate and school workshops, and other income-generating opportunities. The role combines day-to-day service management with broader strategic input and business development support, helping embed a culture of enterprise across Communities 1st.

Enterprise Strategy & Development

Finance & Operational Management

Supported Volunteering and Employment

• Work with the Wellbeing, Employment & Skills team to provide placements and pathways within enterprise services.

Marketing, Sales & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work with the marketing team to raise awareness and increase uptake of enterprise services.

• Develop effective working relationships with suppliers, delivery partners, and community venues to support smooth operations and joint initiatives.

Role Overview

The Facilities Coordinator supports the smooth day-to-day running of all sites used by The Listening Place (TLP). This hands-on, practical role involves coordinating maintenance, basic health & safety compliance, and supplier relationships across multiple TLP locations. The post-holder will work closely with Centre Managers and the Head of Operations and Finance to ensure that all buildings are safe, well-maintained, and equipped for volunteers and staff to deliver our vital services. The role requires regular travel between sites and occasional out-of-hours availability for urgent incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilities Management:

• Act as the first point of contact for facilities related issues across all TLP sites, ensuring timely and practical resolution.

• Work closely with Centre Managers to ensure each site operates effectively and comfortably.

• Organise and oversee general maintenance, repairs, renewals, and improvement works.

• Help obtain and review quotes from contractors, tradespeople, and suppliers, ensuring value for money and quality.

• Ensure appropriate furnishings, office equipment, and supplies are available at all sites and remote work locations.

• Manage relationships and contracts with external service providers (e.g. cleaners, utilities, insurers, waste management).

• Maintain oversight of security and access arrangements (keys, fobs, alarm systems).

IT, Communications & Utilities:

• Act as the primary liaison for external IT support providers, telecoms and internet suppliers.

• Support day-to-day troubleshooting by working with providers to resolve outages or access issues.

• Maintain up-to-date records of contracts and support arrangements.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Coordinate facilities-related health and safety compliance, including fire safety and general building safety.

• Organise and monitor statutory and routine inspections, including:

   - Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

   - Fire and intruder alarm servicing and testing

   - Emergency lighting checks

   - Fire extinguisher servicing

   - Legionella risk assessments and monitoring

• Carry out regular site walkthroughs and risk assessments.

• Ensure all corrective actions are tracked and followed up.

Facilities Systems and Support:

Define, implement, and maintain systems for issue and problem management, contract management, and asset management to support effective facilities operations.

Administrative Support:

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activity, supplier contracts, inspections, and compliance logs.

• Assist in coordinating moves, site set-ups, or closures where necessary.

Additional Support:

• Regular travel between TLP sites is required.

• Availability for out-of-hours support for urgent facilities incidents, including evenings and weekends.

Person Specification:

Essential:

• Experience coordinating facilities or site support across multiple locations.

• Experience managing conflicting priorities and communicating with stakeholders across centres.

• Confident communicator, able to liaise with internal staff, contractors, and suppliers.

• Organised and practical, with good attention to detail.

• Good understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements.

• Proficiency in managing contracts, negotiating quotes, and tracking budgets related to premises.

• Experience establishing and managing service level agreements (SLAs).

• Good teamwork ethic, able to build and maintain working relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and external contractors.

Desirable:

• IOSH or NEBOSH certification (or interest in working towards one).

Principal Mobility Planner

About the role

As the Principal Mobility Planner, you will lead Sustrans Scotland’s Transport Planning function to support the effective delivery of programmes and act as a senior influencer in active travel across Scotland.

You will have responsibility for leading the Transport Planning function, providing services across the range of programmes and projects Sustrans delivers. You will lead the delivery of active travel & integrated transport planning strategies and steer for capital projects, services and programmes across Sustrans Scotland and for the National Cycle Network forward planning, while providing up to date technical knowledge and advice on best practice within the sector to colleagues and other partners.

Responsible for setting the operational function and best practice, you will ensure prioritisation and allocation of resources to deliver projects against a range of financial and performance targets set in conjunction with our clients.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake work on behalf of Sustrans. You will work from a Sustrans office in Edinburgh or Glasgow with the flexibility to work from home.

About you

You will have a transportation and/or planning background (disciplines such as but not limited to town planning/city planning/transport planning) allowing you to develop a strategic action plan to deliver and support coherent and strategic network planning for active travel in Scotland. You should have proven experience of working on a diverse and complex range of design projects, considering place and movement functions alongside interactions of vehicular traffic.

You should have demonstrable experience of leading, motivating and managing a multi-functional team.

Your communication skills must be finely honed, allowing you to effectively communicate and build good relationships with colleagues, representatives from central and local government, active travel delivery partners, communities, Transport Scotland and other key stakeholders.

When a family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience for the whole family. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.

Back Up’s Family Support Service is there to help. We enable a wide range of family members of all ages whose loved one is affected by spinal cord injury (SCI) to improve their wellbeing, build a support network and transform their lives through Back Up’s services. 

The Family Support Coordinator will assist in supporting family members on an individual basis as well as in group settings as appropriate, together with providing support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new family support volunteers.

A Family Support Coordinator will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

Lived experience of having a relative with SCI is essential, together with sharing our commitment to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury.

Founded in 1617, The Society of Apothecaries was set up as a members’ association specifically to support doctors, pharmacists, and other health professionals, with the purpose of furthering education, research and innovation in the medical field. Today, the Society, continues to support medical students who are struggling financially and through our Centre for Health Studies, runs a wide range of educational programmes including, post-graduate Medical Diplomas, courses and lectures open to the General Public.  Our members are still predominantly medical professionals.  We are based at the wonderful C17th Apothecaries Hall, a Grade 1 listed building and Scheduled Ancient Monument, where we host a wide range of events including black- and white-tie dinners.   

The Communications Officer reports directly to the Senior Leadership Team and sits at the centre of all the Society’s activities.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who believes that excellent communications have the power to bring people together to facilitate change.  You will have the opportunity to develop this role, which is creative, varied and has huge impact.

You will:

1. Manage the communications and engagement functions in-house to serve all areas of the Society.

2. In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team & key stakeholders, manage the annual pattern of communications & engagement activities required and ensure key deadlines are met.

The Communications Department at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) informs, inspires and engages our many audiences about dementia and the progress being made in research. The Strategic Communications Officer will be part of the Strategic Communications team – one of several specialist teams in the wider Department.

The Strategic Communications Officer will be responsible for producing high-quality and compelling communications to raise the profile of the charity and rally much-needed support for the cause.

They will play a vital role in shaping our brand, driving impactful campaigns, and supporting fundraising initiatives that help accelerate the search for a cure for dementia.

The postholder will also empower teams across the charity to consistently deliver key messages through exceptional storytelling, to reach Alzheimer’s Research UK’s core audiences. 

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

· Working with the Senior Strategic Communications Manager, lead on communications for charity-wide key moments, including co-ordinating activity, developing key messaging and narrative, and creating compelling content that can be used across teams. Effectively measure the impact of this work.

· Help ensure consistent, powerful storytelling, amplifying our key messages, across all platforms including web, email, social and video.

· Work closely with teams to ensure their content embodies Alzheimer’s Research UK tone of voice.

· Prepare, write, pitch and issue media stories to generate coverage for our initiatives and campaigns.

· Establish and develop valuable and productive relationships with journalists; respond promptly to queries, including occasional out-of-hours queries.

· Develop effective relationships with teams across Alzheimer's Research UK’s Communications, Policy and Involvement (PCI) Directorate, and Fundraising & Marketing (F&M) Directorate, in order to identify and deliver on communications needs.

· Attend and/or organise appropriate meetings and events – these will require some travel and occasional unsociable hours.

What we are looking for:

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Confidence working with computers; knowledge of Microsoft office packages and databases, good keyboard skills.

· Excellent organisational skills; the ability to manage a large number of tasks with internal and external stakeholders to multiple deadlines.

· Ability to communicate appropriately with people affected by dementia and to translate scientific work for lay people; knowledge of dementia and/or science is advantageous, but not a requirement.

· Experience of supporting or co-ordinating partnership working.

Then join our experienced team supporting children and young people who have caring responsibilities for someone in their family due to disability, long-term illness, mental health, or drug or alcohol misuse. You’ll help deliver our Young Carers service across Southwark, so a car driver is preferred.

In this role, you will manage an existing caseload and new referrals, meeting with families and Young Carers to complete statutory assessments and create action plans. You‘ll provide support for Young Carers to reduce the impact of their caring role and improve their resilience, educational chances and wellbeing, through signposting to local services, in-school support, one-to-one sessions, and workshops.

There will be opportunities to work closely with schools, Children’s Services and other agencies to raise awareness, identify hidden Young Carers, and ensure Young Carer needs are understood and acted on.

You will need to be confident, approachable and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly establish rapport with children and young people. Applicants should have relevant experience of working or volunteering in education, health or social care, or be looking to start a career working with children or young people.

This is a part-time role, ideally working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (including occasional early evenings). The role is 9 months fixed-term with a potential 3 month extension.

We are now recruiting for a Lead Coach in Brighton - an outstanding opportunity to work as part of a local church to deliver the Spear Programme.

You’ll be working with the local church to manage the delivery of Resurgo's award-winning Spear Programme. Over the last 20 years, Spear has supported more than 10,000 young people across the UK with the work-ready skills and mindset they need to succeed in employment, no matter the challenges they face. In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme
• Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture, and attitudes in the training room
• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively
• Handling safeguarding
• Taking a lead on rating the work readiness of the trainees and making sure data is inputted and used correctly on salesforce
• Tracking trainee progress on the dashboards
• Liaising with volunteers for key programme engagement events such as mock interviews and external panels. Leading on briefings and communications with these volunteers

Delivery of Spear Career [20%]

• Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees

Training the Graduate Coach [10%]

• Contributing towards the training and developing of the Graduate Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback 

Trainee recruitment [10%]

• Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics

Continuous professional development

• Continually engaging in professional development, including being part of Resurgo’s wider coaching programmes and possibly supporting on leading internal training such as Grad Coach Training

Active participation in and support for church team and mission

• As the Spear programme is run in partnership with a local church partner, you will establish a strong personal connection with the church to develop the engagement and backing of church members and help build a strong network of supporters for the Spear programme. As part of this you may be asked to speak at church/events and contribute to prayer meetings as per Resurgo’s Christian ethos and the mission of the church

This vital Data Officer role will support the Data Team in maintaining and developing the supporter relationship database (Salesforce NPSP), providing high quality support to CBM UK staff. Key Responsibilities
The Data Officer supports the Data Team to effectively use and maintain the fundraising database across the organisation to increase fundraising, communications and engagement potential.

About the role:

When a family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience for the whole family. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.

Back Up’s Family Support Service is there to help. We enable a wide range of family members of all ages whose loved one is affected by spinal cord injury (SCI) to improve their wellbeing, build a support network and transform their lives through Back Up’s services. 

The Family Support Coordinator will assist in supporting family members on an individual basis as well as in group settings as appropriate, together with providing support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new family support volunteers.

A Family Support Coordinator will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

Lived experience of having a relative with SCI is essential, together with sharing our commitment to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury.

At Prisoners Abroad, we support British citizens imprisoned overseas, their families at home, and people returning to the UK after prison. We are a small but powerful charity, providing life-saving support through some of the most isolating and traumatic experiences imaginable.

Following a recent team restructure aimed at strengthening the sustainability and impact of our services, this role has been designed to support the friendly, caring Prisoner & Family Support team with the delivery of information, advice, learning and wellbeing support to people in prison and support to their families throughout the time of imprisonment.

Good organisation, attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure are key.
