At our North West London Home, we are recruiting a Head of Kennels who will share our compassion and commitment for animal welfare to provide front line leadership to our team of Kennel and Animal Care staff and volunteers. We care for up to fifteen dogs on site, in addition to dogs placed into foster homes. Our Head of Kennels is responsible for managing the day-to-day smooth running of our kennels and maintaining the wellbeing of all dogs in our care, so that their individual physical and psychological needs are catered for adequately, and in line with our standards and ethics.

This is a high profile and hugely important role for Mayhew as our Head of Kennels oversees each dog's journey through Mayhew from in-take to assessment and then to rehoming. Working with staff and volunteers across the Home, foster carers, adopters, other charities and rescues and members of the public, our Head of Kennels is instrumental in ensuring that our dogs have all they need - from feeding, exercising, cleaning, and socialising to finding their perfect forever home. Leading a small team, our Head of Kennels is responsible for managing all aspects of our dog in-takes, adoptions, fostering and Pet Refuge (read more here), managing our capacity to ensure we help as many dogs as we can and ensuring our dogs are rehomed to a home suited to their individual needs as soon as possible.

Generally, you will:

• Lead and manage our kennels and ensure the very best care and support is given to each of our dogs
• Proactively, collaboratively and resourcefully maintain relationships with volunteers, foster carers, adopters, other rescue managers and other colleagues in the wider Mayhew community
• Manage your team in an inclusive and collaborative way, enabling and empowering them
• Engage and collaborate with senior staff to ensure effective delivery of our strategic and operational goals

To be successful in this role, you need relevant experience in:

• Experience working with dogs, preferably in a shelter environment
• Knowledge of dog behaviour, training and welfare
• Experience of successfully motivating, managing, and developing a high performing team and managing performance
• Experience of effectively managing competing and changeable priorities, a high workload and multiple complex issues and tasks

We are looking for an ambitious, experienced and passionate Chief Financial & Operations Officer (CFOO) to join The Lifescape Project, leading the evolution, management and delivery of our financial and operational capacities as the organisation grows.

Our impact as a charity depends on excellent financial management and the efficient provision of supporting operational structures, policies and ways of working. As the organisation grows and diversifies, we need a dedicated Chief Financial and Operations Officer to lead the management and development of these critical functions in close liaison with the CEO. The CFOO will be second in command to the CEO and a key member of the Management Team.

Our team has grown from just one to a team which will number 20 at the time of the successful CFOO candidate joining. This growth to date and planned future growth requires constant evolution of our financial and operational infrastructure and an experienced hand to guide this process, which is the core purpose of the CFOO role we are seeking to appoint.

We are excited to be hiring for this role, which will be transformational for the organisation, allowing us to develop our approach to financial and operational matters and support the continued growth of our team and impact. The role will act as second in command and will deputise for the CEO when absent. We are therefore looking for a highly capable and experienced finance and operations leader with the vision to ensure that we continue to grow in a sustainable, effective and efficient way.

We currently have a full-time manager and officer in our Finance and Operations team (F&O Team), which the CFOO will be joining to oversee, develop and guide all relevant functions. With the small size of the team at this time, the CFOO will be expected to jump into the detail in some areas. In the short term this will include delivering some of the more complex areas of the F&O team’s work, such as the audit process, multi-year financial planning and legal compliance, with support from other team members and external advisers as appropriate. If we continue to succeed in delivering our growth strategy, the role will progress over the medium term with increasing team size/supervisory duties and reducing involvement in immediate implementation. Remuneration would also increase in line with growth and assuming strong performance in the role.

The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is the UK’s only national charity providing peer support to bereaved parents whose child, of any age (from 1 month old to an adult child), has died from any cause. We also offer support to bereaved adult siblings and grandparents.

Via over 300 trained and supported volunteers, bereaved parents, adult siblings and grandparents themselves, we support over 25,000 bereaved parents each year through peer support offered in person, over the telephone, by email, online, and in print.

This role uses experiential insight to inform peer support, service design and engagement. We will assess how candidates apply that insight professionally (boundaries, safeguarding, confidentiality). This role is open to applicants with demonstrable, recent lived experience of homelessness (including rough sleeping, insecure or temporary accommodation).

About the role

The Passage has secured funding to deliver a 1-year pilot, exploring how the use of peer support can prevent further homelessness and increase social mobility, by giving people the support and confidence to get reintegrated into the community. 

This pilot will involve the recruitment and training of 10 lived experience volunteers who will share their insights and provide support to people recently re-housed to set and achieve goals with a focus on community re-integration. The pilot will offer a range of interventions including 1:1 support, community events and online training. 

The Passage recognizes that someone’s journey of homelessness doesn’t just end when accommodation is secured. What is often a confidence-stripping and traumatizing experience can take time to recover from. The first steps can be the most challenging for individuals to put down new roots and get back to where they were before that period. 

As The Lived Experience Specialist Project Worker, you will support your manager in the design, delivery, monitoring and reporting of the pilot; with a particular focus on supporting the volunteers in their roles. 

The Passage believes that peer support and the sharing of lived experience are essential tools in supporting people to take steps toward becoming more active, involved and connected. We also know that delivering peer support and helping others are also crucial cornerstones in processing living experience into lived experience. 

Main duties

• To support the recruitment and retention of lived-experience volunteers. 
• Have oversight of the day-to-day delivery of volunteers work by providing guidance & direction and ensuring volunteer support is delivered in a safe and supportive manner. 
• Support the creation of a volunteering environment where having lived experience is not a barrier but a tool to help others. 
• To support the manager to create and maintain procedures which underpin the pilot and volunteers’ activities, ensuring they are fit for purpose. 
• Meeting potential referrals, explaining the scope of the service, and undertaking person centered role matching. 
• Identify challenges including safeguarding issues encountered by volunteers 
• and working with the manager to address them. 
• Ensuring accurate and efficient recording of actions undertaken by volunteers.

About the role

We’re looking for a Virtual Fundraising Senior Officer with event management skills to join our brilliant Mass Participation team.

Our ambitious virtual fundraising team recruits over 11,500 virtual fundraisers every year and this role will play a key role in delivering an unforgettable experience to these supporters. You'll be responsible for the delivery and growth of multiple virtual fundraising challenges, ensuring exceptional multichannel stewardship is delivered while driving ambitious participation and income targets. 

Your focus will be to project manager the larger virtual events in our portfolio while taking a data- driven approach to analyse performance, optimise processes and identify opportunities for innovation. About the role

Working closely with teams across Finance, you’ll develop the management accounting function, reporting and analysing financial information across the organisation. 

You’ll drive improvements in our financial and reporting processes, using data and digital tools to boost efficiency and effectiveness, delivering accurate and insightful reporting and analysis that drives data informed decisions. 

What you’ll do

• Develop a management accountant function, instilling best practice, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

• Develop a suite of reporting tools for organisational insight and analysis through  trends analysis, variance analysis, modelling, and scenario planning and ad hoc reporting. 

• Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of monthly management accounts, whilst supporting business partners with key organisational trends and analytical variances.

•  Lead the production and consolidation of budgeting and forecasting templates  and reporting tools to aid organisational analysis and planning. Alongside assisting with the delivery of our annual accounts

What you'll bring

• CCAB recognised professional accounting qualification.

• Demonstrable experience in management accounting and financial planning & analysis. 

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail. 

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, especially with non-finance colleagues. 

• Strong technical skills and familiarity with charity financial regulations is essential,  SORP is desirable. In particular you will bring demonstrable experience of active management of restricted and designated funds as part of robust financial management.

More about the role

This key role within the Insights team has a focus on delivering marketing selections, implementing supporter journeys, and delivering insights on fundraising, communications and engagement performance. The Insights team sits within the Data & Insights Department – a team of 10 colleagues who are working towards our Data Strategy vision of our information being trusted, accessible and used to help pets and people thrive together.

You'll collaborate closely with the Insights Manager to deliver marketing selections and supporter journeys, as well as analysis and insights that deepen our understanding of our clients and supporters.
 

You will have the opportunity to problem solve and experiment to help us drive forward our data maturity, all whilst being a part of a friendly, welcoming and collaborative team. The Insights team provide the metrics, reports and analysis that underpin evidence-based decision making at Blue Cross, and ensure reporting adheres to all legislative and regulatory requirements and quality and integrity standards.

IMPORTANT NOTE 

As this role involves twice-weekly presence within the office, candidates must live within a reasonable distance from our Burford office (for example, within one and a half hours’ travel one way). Our Burford office is in a rural location where public transport links are infrequent, therefore travel by car is our strong recommendation. About you

 This role would suit an experienced analyst who is keen to develop and maintain supporter journeys and marketing selections, or to learn these skills.  If this is new to you, don’t worry, we’ll fully support you as you learn.
 

You will be confident, proactive and articulate in promoting data, insights and the benefits of evidence-based decision making. We will need you to use various analytical tools, skills and techniques to design and develop reports and dashboards to tell stories in a compelling way and confidently be able to analyse complex data from diverse sources.
 

You will need great presenting and communication skills to deliver insights to stakeholders both in person and virtually and the confidence to build strong stakeholder relationships throughout the organisation, so we are looking for someone positive and friendly with confidence to contribute.

We use Microsoft Power BI as our business intelligence tool, but you might have used other BI software such as Tableau or Qlik. Don’t worry if you haven’t used Power BI – you’ll get lots of support.

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Administrative Intern to join our international charity team. You will be the first point of contact for the organisation, providing a welcoming and professional service to colleagues, partners and members of our global community, many of whom do not have English as their first language. You will support the smooth day-to-day running of the office by providing high-quality administrative support.

This is an entry-level role, and no previous work experience is required. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who is a fast learner, enjoys helping others, and is keen to develop their administrative and customer service skills. You should have good telephone manners, be organised and comfortable using IT systems; experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail) is desirable, but full training will be provided.

This is a full-time, temporary position with a hybrid working pattern (3 days in the office and 2 days working from home). If you are looking for your first role, returning to work after a break, or seeking short-term experience in office administration within a charity, this could be an excellent opportunity.

Management Accountant - Newly Created Role

Charity People have partnered with a growing £2million turnover community benefit society to help recruit a Management Accountant. This is a newly created role offering salary between £36,000 - £45,000 per annum.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional to join a dynamic team and play a key role in supporting sustainable growth.

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will provide accurate and timely financial management and reporting, ensuring sound financial control, analysis, and statutory compliance. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance function.

• Management & Statutory Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, reconcile balance sheet accounts, complete statutory returns (VAT, Companies House, FCA), and support annual audits.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Skilled in budget management and resource optimisation.
