About the Role

As Director of Finance and Resources, you will report directly to the Chief Executive and work closely with the Board of Trustees, leading the charity’s Finance, HR, Infrastructure, Legal, and Governance functions.

• Provide leadership across Finance, People, and Infrastructure teams (managing three Heads of Department)

About You

We’re looking for a senior finance leader with a professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar) or equivalent financial and commercial management experience gained in an organisation of comparable scale or complexity.

What we offer and what we ask of you

As an associate, you will be involved in the delivery of aspects of the Board Development programme including our aspiring directors programme and effective challenge module. You will work with, and collaborate with, a group of talented fellow associates with a varied range of skills and capabilities, as well as board experience, NHS experience, coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills. Your responsibilities will include delivering dynamic training sessions using pre-prepared materials; delivery could be online or face to face. On occasion you will also be required to utilise your skills and experience to support the development and maintenance of new and existing training session materials. This role requires a passionate individual with a strong background in HR and OD and a proven track record of facilitating engaging and impactful training sessions.

We will support you by offering you commissioned pieces of work on a daily rate, either to help scope and deliver bespoke board development work with NHS trusts and other system partners, or to help us deliver our open courses, where we will be proactive in confirming the agenda and briefing you on content. We ask all of our associates to sign an associate contract which means we can approach you with offers of work over the course of the year. We will ensure you have sufficient information about the trusts, and other clients, that you will be working with. Description of the associate role

• Significant experience of working at board level.

• Ability to translate theory into practical insights.
• Proactive approach to building and maintaining effective client relationships, including excellent levels of communication.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility in delivery training in various formats.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-technical audience.

Desirable experience and skills include:

• Current or previous NHS board member.
• Significant facilitation experience, including Insights/MBTI personality profiling.
• Interest in sharing knowledge, training and development.
• Proficiency in using virtual training platforms and tools.
• Ability to use technology adeptly to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.

About the Role 

The Head of Rough Sleeping Services will lead our services in our centre based at 12 Adelaide Street. The core purpose of these services is to minimise the harm associated with rough sleeping and support people into treatment and accommodation options. This will include Centre Services, our Community, Street Engagement and case work teams. You will also lead the delivery of any short-term emergency accommodation including SWEP and hotel provision.    

This opportunity comes at a particularly exciting time as the Connection looks to ambitiously develop our work at Adeliade Street into a hub of harm reduction and health inclusion for people rough sleeping in Westminster. As the Head of Rough Sleeping Services, you will lead the exciting strategic and operational work to deliver this, and have the chance to be part of a centre that aims to be a nationally recognised example of innovative practice.   

The role requires someone with a strong track record in service delivery with people who have complex needs. They must have experience of trauma informed care and similar associated practice.  Alongside ensuring high quality service delivery, they must have experience of developing new approaches, building relationships with statutory services and working with fundraising specialists to secure resources. The Head of Rough Sleeping Services will be a well organised and focused manager who uses coaching techniques to develop their team. Finally, they must be a positive role model with the personal credibility to build confidence in the charity both internally and externally.

Health & Safety Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Officer to join our Estates Team. In your role as the Health & Safety Officer will be to provide support on an operational basis to the health & safety function.

Role Requirements

• Promote good stakeholder involvement and good safety culture
• Prepare and issue monthly health and safety briefing documents / toolbox talks
• Keep health and safety information up to date, including all fire safety documentation (fire emergency plans, fire safety manuals etc.), the health and safety section of the intranet and shared documents
• Carry out regular walkabouts, including at retail stores, keeping in touch with staff on their safety arrangements and ensuring control measures are in place and effective
• Provide health and safety training and coaching on topics such as, but not limited to, general health & safety (induction and refresher training), fire safety, COSHH, risk assessing and manual handling
• Develop and refresh internal online training to support staff learning experiences
• Carry out general risk assessment, as required, with particular emphasis on retail, regulatory requirements, outings and the clinical environment.
• Update fire risk assessments for low to medium-risk buildings, tracking completion of actions and updating compliance software
• Manage COSHH risk assessments and the COSHH risk register, checking on suitable PPE and storage
• Manage compliance with workstation assessments, including homeworking, using the external management system
• Support teams, enabling them to carry out their risk assessments, including manual handling assessments for inanimate activities
• Develop and keep up to date Safe Operating Procedures for health and safety.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is expanding its network of senior volunteers to boost income from corporate and philanthropic sources. 

As our Partnerships and Senior Networks Lead, you’ll play a key role in supporting our income ambitions by cultivating relationships, uncovering new opportunities, and enhancing the charity’s ability to secure advice and support.

BHF’s senior volunteers help us drive income through introductions to their networks, advice around major giving and corporate partnership fundraising, and by advocating on our behalf to high-value audiences. You will manage and support these senior volunteers, oversee key fundraising boards, and facilitate the engagement activities and administration of volunteer initiatives including Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Boards.
 
Additionally, you’ll be responsible for leveraging senior-level networks, including existing committees, boards and the Senior Leadership Group, to grow income, while ensuring insights, network mapping and briefing materials are handled effectively.

This critical role fosters collaboration and drives income growth to support BHF’s mission to save and improve lives affected by cardiovascular disease.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you bring experience managing stakeholder engagement at senior levels (e.g. Trustees, board members, senior volunteers, high-net-worth donors and/or corporate leaders) as well as demonstrable experience in providing secretariat support to boards, committees, or similar groups.

With a background in philanthropic and/or corporate partnerships fundraising, you have a strong understanding of the charity sector and experience in managing communications on behalf of high-profile individuals, such as board members or organisational leaders.

Proactive and self-motivated, with strong organisation skills and attention to detail, you have experience in planning events and other engagement touchpoints for high value audiences and working with external suppliers and contractors to source high quality goods and services.

With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you can build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders and manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

Working arrangements  

This is 18-month fixed term contract from start date. Start date is as soon as possible.

Support Dog is a unique and innovative national charity that has been transforming the lives of families affected by autism, epilepsy and disability for over 30 years.

Support Dogs trains and provides specialist assistance dog to give 100% reliable advance warning of epileptic seizures; to help children with autism to stay safe and better engage with the world around them. Our disability assistance dogs bring independence and a better quality of life for those with physical disabilities including MS, Cerebral Palsy and Fibromyalgia.

Founded and entirely based in Sheffield our charity operates across the UK, growing significantly over recent years. The demand for our work is overwhelming, with requests for support increasing ten-fold over the past few years. Support Dogs provides all of its services free of charge and relies entirely on voluntary donations for funding.

We are looking for a dedicated and organised Trusts and Grants Fundraiser to join our friendly and supportive team. Reporting to the Trusts and Development Manager, you’ll help identify and research prospective funders, prepare compelling applications, and build strong relationships with donors.

You’ll manage your own workload and portfolio of donors, writing applications and corresponding with donors. Helping to maintain accurate CRM records. You’ll also collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to gather stories, data, and insight to support your work.

Responsible for:  Volunteer Peer Buddies. No staff responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

 Supporter Services

•  Lead the development and delivery of the new supporter services function considering people (capability, capacity and culture), processes, tools and technologies needed to deliver outstanding customer service so new and existing supporters feel valued and connected to the ESU’s mission.
• Design and implement supporter recruitment, development and retention plans including welcome journeys and approaches for reactivating dormant supporters.
• Work closely with the Marketing team to create segmented messaging to highlight the impact and value of the ESU’s work to Alumni, Members and Volunteers in the UK.
• Oversee payment processes and supporter payment journeys on our CRM, Salesforce.
• Work with the Marketing team to design ad hoc impactful events in person and online to convene our global audience.
• Work with the Marketing team to promote our flagship events to our supporter audience to encourage attendance. 

Volunteering

• Design and implement a volunteering strategy which includes automating the volunteer experience, recruiting new volunteers and promoting ESU volunteering opportunities to relevant organisations as well as current and future supporters
• Own the volunteer training programme, including reviewing and refreshing training and ensuring all volunteers are appropriately trained.
• Match volunteers to ESU competition heats and resolve queries escalated by the Supporter Engagement Coordinator.
• Form partnerships with relevant organisations to grow the ESU’s pool of volunteers.
• Work with the Education team to create a high quality volunteer experience

Skills and Experience

Essential:

• 5+ years experience working in a partnerships, supporter services, volunteering or account management role
• Demonstrable experience of having delivered successful services to a range of supporters/customers.
• Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering meaningful supporter journeys across multiple channels
• Demonstrable experience of growing and sustaining a pool of high quality volunteers through successful recruitment and development strategies
• Demonstrable experience of using a CRM (preferably Salesforce) to identify trends and drive improvements.

Desirable:

• Educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as marketing or communications
• An understanding of the nature and importance of the ESU’s charitable work and a strong commitment to increasing the reach of the organisation’s work.
• Experience of writing volunteer training programmes
• Experience working with international volunteers
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Experience of writing for different audiences.
• Line management experience
• Excellent data management skills and capability in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Mailchimp Survey Monkey.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of our Active Journeys South and East team covering projects across London and South East, where you will help shape healthier, happier communities through walking, wheeling, and cycling. 

As Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and oversight of behaviour change and engagement projects, as well as leading and supporting the delivery team. You’ll be at the heart of creating positive change, ensuring projects are cost-efficient, timely, and impactful. 

You will be involved with exciting projects such as Wheels4Me London and Moveability (East Sussex) funded by the Motability Foundation. Exploring how cities can improve accessibility by involving disabled people in decision-making, with the goal of creating more inclusive and equitable transportation systems. 

This role will require travel and work at various locations across London and the Southeast area as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. 

About you

You will bring a solid understanding of active travel and the barriers faced by communities experiencing inequalities, alongside knowledge or practical experience in behaviour change concepts and approaches. 

You will have demonstrable experience in: 

• Managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, particularly those with a strong emphasis on community engagement.
• Facilitating workshops and delivering presentations to diverse audiences, both in person and online.
• Communicating effectively across a range of formats and with varied audiences. 

You are a skilled problem solver with excellent organisational abilities, capable of managing and prioritising work across multiple projects to meet deadlines and targets. 

With the leadership responsibilities of this role, you will be confident in your ability to: 

• Lead and mentor colleagues, providing guidance and support both in-person and remotely.
