At Ambitious about Autism, we're currently looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our team.
You'll be responsible for the Business Partnering of some strategically important areas across the Group, supporting them to deliver their financial targets by developing trusted relationships and working alongside ELT members and budget holders to produce their finance model, annual budget and termly forecasts.
You'll influence and negotiate with senior colleagues and provide technical and strategic insight to ensure AaA reaches its financial targets. You'll lead on the monthly management accounts and reporting process, providing financial advice and support to projects within key departments and ensure that budgetary implications of projects are understood and dealt with appropriately.
The role would suit either a qualified accountant (can be recently qualified) who trained at a top 15 private accountancy firm/equivalent public body (e.g. NAO) or an experienced finance business partner.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has an accountancy qualification (ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA/CIPF);
- Can rapidly build understanding in a complex new environment and who can work independently, exercising judgement while not under close supervision;
- Has knowledge and experience of strategic finance and business planning;
- Has either knowledge of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) (FRS 102) 2019, or knowledge of IFRS or FRS102 and the ability to quickly learn the differences under the SORP (with support from colleagues); and
- Has proven experience of working closely with stakeholders at varying level of seniority.

Financial Management

The role
The Financial Accountant will report to the CEO and be part of our small management team. They will oversee our finances as we seek to scale up our grant-making while maintaining our high-quality assurance processes. They will also be responsible for providing scrutiny and a strategic eye to the management of our endowment. A small but important element of the role will be oversight of OCF’s cybersecurity. The successful candidate will combine a rigorous eye for technical detail with long-term thinking and a passion for our mission.

Key relationships: Treasurer, Chair of Finance Committee, Chair of Trustees, staff team and trustees and OCF fundholders.

Responsibilities
· Accountable for producing the Annual Report and Financial Statements in accordance with the Charity SORP, and being primary contact for the auditors.
· Preparation of annual budget and forecast, quarterly financial reports and monthly management accounts and updated forecasts.
· Maintain the detailed records of the endowment and restricted funds on a monthly basis. Oversee accurate statements for fundholders and provide ad hoc reports and analysis as required.
· Responsible for maintaining strong financial systems to provide accurate financial records and control systems for OCF, working closely with the Development and Grants teams to ensure complete alignment between internal systems (eg SAGE and Salesforce).
· Responsible for ensuring the Finance Committee is effectively supported, including: agenda and minutes, the production of timely reports, following up on actions and ensuring compliance with Charity Commission, HMRC Gift Aid and other reporting requirements.
· Liaise with OCF’s Investment Fund Managers (currently CCLA and Brompton Asset Management) and work with the Finance Committee to ensure performance is maximised.
· Monitor cash balances and ensure OCF is getting value for money on its cash.
· Management and development of a Finance Officer
· Oversight of effective delivery of all financial transactions, bank accounts, cash flow, bank reconciliations and staff payroll; includes oversight of checking the accounts for potential grant recipients.
· Bring to the early attention of the CEO and Chair of Finance Committee any matters of concern and risk in relation to the finances of OCF, and provide financial advice on mitigating actions.
· Maintain cybersecurity and insurance to meet operational requirements, and provide oversight to ensure OCF contracts are value for money.
Key competencies
· ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified and membership of one of the major UK accountancy bodies
· Experience of charity accounting and knowledge of best practice
· A proven track record of financial management in a an organisation with significant turnover understanding of restricted spend-down funds and endowments
· Experience in accounting software – preferably SAGE – with good computer literacy, including MS Excel and ideally CRM systems such as Salesforce
· Ability to think strategically in financial matters and identify areas of risk and opportunity, and to implement improvements working with colleagues.
· Good communication skills, particularly with the ability to explain financial data to a generalist audience of senior decision-makers.

Purpose of job:
In this role you will business partner with the Funding directorate to ensure high quality, accurate and timely budgeting and forecasting with respect to both restricted projects and unrestricted operational activity in the Funding team. You will work closely with the Funding Leadership Team and wider department and be their trusted financial advisor. This role will also give the successful candidate a unique opportunity to contribute to Comic Relief’s Shifting the Power Programme, a long term, transformative, civil society strengthening programme, co-funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), operational in Ghana, Zambia and Malawi.
You will be responsible for internal management information for senior management, alongside external reporting to funders. Are you an experienced Senior Finance professional wanting to make a real difference for anyone affected by dementia? This role will support our Income and Engagement Directorate which includes raising funds so that Alzheimer’s Society can provide essential services to those who need us.
The Senior Finance Business Partner will assist the directorate with financial analysis and advice that will help shape decision making.
As a member of the Finance Partnering Team, you will support budget holders to maximise their impact and deliver a high quality, customer focused finance partnering service to stakeholders, including support to operational decision making, commercial development and producing forecasts, budgets and insightful analysis.
You'll have experience in preparing financial reports, budgets, forecasts, business plans, and modelling of financial data. You will advocate and promote the Society's core values (trusted experts, better together, compassionate and determined to make a difference) able working collaboratively with wider teams successfully and professionally to complete tasks.

Purpose of Role
The Finance Business Partner is the bridge between Finance and the other Directorates we support. The focus of the role is to provide finance expertise to budget holders to help them to understand their financial information and make informed decisions about their areas.
It is someone who truly partners with budget holders, to understand the key drivers, needs and priorities of different areas of the organisation and works with the relevant stakeholders to deliver our ambitious strategic goals.
The role
Support to budget holders:
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of all areas of the organisation.
- Establish strong relationships with and become the finance point of contact for budget holders with queries.
- Review monthly performance with budget holders and agree any revisions that are needed.
- Provide high quality financial support and training to budget holders on processes to develop effective budget management and controls.
- Implement and maintain strong business processes to support record-keeping, analysis, and good decision-making.
Monthly reporting process:
- Support the Head of Finance with month end process, to include: reconciliation of legacy funding with outsourced support organisation, accruals and prepayments.
- Run and review cost centre reports prior to sharing with budget holders.
- Distribute cost centre reports to budget holders and discuss variances .
- Compile incorrect transactions from budget holders and post correcting journals. Investigate reasons for mispostings and instigate corrective action.
- Produce management accounts and related variance analysis for Executive Leadership Team.
Budget and quarterly forecasts:
- Lead and coordinate the annual budget process, 3-year planning and quarterly reforecasting.
- Produce templates and guidance to support budget holders with budgeting and forecasts.
- Arrange meetings to discuss and support budget holders with completion of templates.
- Work with the Chief of Staff to align the annual budget and business planning processes.
Funder proposals and reports:
- Support Fundraising team and Programme implementation teams with proposals to funders.
- Work with budget holders to develop and maintain list of funding, timelines and reporting requirements.
- Prepare financial reports for external funders.
Ongoing support:
- Work closely with the Fundraising team to improve and strengthen reconciliations, reporting and system links between the CRM system (Salesforce) and the Finance System.
- Develop and deliver training to staff and volunteers on finance processes and understanding financial information.
- Support with the development and monitoring compliance of the financial policies and processes and controls.
- Support Finance process improvement activities.
Finance team tasks:
- Creation of and running reports and transaction queries from SUN systems using Q&A.
- Managing quarterly VAT return process.
- Support annual external audit to include preparation of schedules and financial statements/notes.
Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required of the post holder by the Ramblers.
The person
Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CiPFA or equivalent formal qualification) or in the final stage of qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
- Substantial experience of charity fund accounting (SORP).
- Knowledge & extensive experience of finance systems (SUN systems desirable)
- Knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce desirable).
- Experience of business partnering in the charity sector, working with budget holders to prepare departmental and project budgets and forecasts.
- Experience of communicating complex financial information effectively to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Substantial experience of producing management accounts and variance analysis.
- Experience of working collaboratively and in partnership with individuals, groups, organisations and stakeholders internally and externally.
- Experience of dealing with charity VAT.

Since 2003, we have been harnessing the power of skiing & snowboarding to break down barriers, broaden horizons and address the biggest social issues facing underserved young people today.
Our accredited programmes are unique and attractive to young people who are less likely to engage with mainstream provision. Taking them from beginner to qualified snowsports instructors in just one year with volunteering and apprenticeship progression routes available at the end. Alongside learning to ski or snowboard, young people also have access to wellbeing support with the emphasis on improving young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
This is a really exciting opportunity to play a key role in Snow Camp’s development in London, with programmes running from The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempsted. So, if you love working with young people and have solid experience delivering youth programmes, combined with a passion for snowsports – and if you are looking for a challenging and rewarding role working with a committed team of staff at Snow Camp and some amazing young people – this job could be the job for you!
Experience of working successfully with underserved young people in a range of settings will be essential to the post. Furthermore, experience within a snowsports field and passion for supporting young people generally will be a huge advantage!
