Live out your Christian faith in a fun job, surrounded by excellent kind volunteers and straight talking adults with learning disabilities in a beautiful farm setting near Winchester.  If you love cooking, people and thinking on your feet, then this is the management job for you.  Boaz is a small independent charity that over 100 people a week call their "workplace".  Four days a week around 30 people come to the farm to "work and learn together" doing a whole range of horticulture and other jobs such as cooking, craft, animal care and woodwork.  As Deputy Manager you will help keep the fun levels high, the stress levels low, and people working harmoniously together.  Four days each week you'll lead on cooking a simple vegetarian meal for everyone on site, plus be involved in the general day to day management of the charity.  But don't take my word for it, swing by for a coffee and a walk around to get a feel for things BEFORE you apply.  Based in a converted cow barn this is a MARMITE job, and we all know that people either love or don't love that spread.

It's a small team, only two other full time staff members working alongside you, but over 50 volunteers coming and going each week and over 30 adults with learning disabilities who spend half days or several days a week working at the project.  Each day starts with some "listening and prayer time" where people are encouraged to share and receive prayer if they request it.  Then some scripture is shared followed by remembering everything people are grateful for.  As Deputy Manager you would lead these sessions when the General Manager is on leave or be on a rota system.

The role is based on-site, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30.

You get 20 days holiday a year plus Public Holidays to start with, plus additional days for long service.

Pay will be in the range of £28 to £30,000 p/a depending on experience.

About World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year. Childhood cancer is most often curable, with over 80% survival rate in high income countries. However, in many low-and-middle-income countries survival rates are often 25% or lower.

Role Purpose

The purpose of the Fundraiser role is primarily to raise funds from UK trusts, foundations and statutory funders and to identify, generate, grow and maintain this vital income stream. Some engagement to support other strands of fundraising will be required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Identification of Funders

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of our research projects and research funding plans, including in response to requests from Heads of Department and Senior Management Team;

Terms and Conditions

Working Hours

The working hours shall be 35 hours per week (exclusive of meal breaks). Some out of hours working will be required to support meetings and events and this will be notified in advance. Time off in lieu will be awarded in line with Southwark Cathedral’s policy.

Annual Leave

25 days per annum as well as statutory bank holidays, with an additional 5 days (pro-rata) after 10 years service. 

Probation

The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

Season Ticket Loan

Once the probationary period has been completed satisfactorily, the person appointed will be eligible to take out a season ticket loan.

Pension

The person appointed will be eligible to join a defined contributions pension scheme managed by the Church Workers Pension Fund. The Cathedral will contribute half of the annual premium of 10% of salary.

About Community Counselling:

The charity was established in 2013.  It provides free therapeutic interventions such as counselling, play and creative art therapy, and EMDR (trauma) treatment to vulnerable people living in North Yorkshire, including children who have been the victim of crime. The clinical team consists of over 30 part-time practitioners, being a mixture of staff, volunteers (including trainees) and sessional workers.  Last year we helped over 800 people with a wide range of mental health issues.

About the role

Becoming the Programme Marketing Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is a fantastic opportunity to help drive progress for women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by engaging more people in our work.

The key purpose of this role is to effectively market our programmes to participants – chiefly our HerVenture business skills microlearning app and our sector-leading Mentoring Women in Business programme.

This will span three main projects:

· to successfully manage a marketing agency to effectively market the HerVenture app to women in South Africa (as part of a fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Mar ‘25);

· to successfully manage the same marketing agency to promote the app in Nigeria (as part of a separate fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Dec ‘24); and

· to effectively promote the opportunity to become a mentor to a woman entrepreneur through our Mentoring Women in Business programme to paying professionals worldwide. Your objective will be to secure 18+ paid mentors for the Nov ’24 programme intake and 20+ for the May ’25 intake.

Following the completion of the two HerVenture marketing projects, you will also lead other programme marketing initiatives in 2025. These will be determined in late 2024.

Following the May ’25 Mentoring intake you will deliver a strategy, harnessing your learning and analysis to outline an approach for marketing the programme to paying mentors in future.

You will also be called on to support other forms of programme marketing on an ad hoc basis, for example advising on development of corporate pitch decks, or co-designing materials for fundraising events.

This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing, however this is a highly collaborative role and you will also work closely with the Entrepreneurship programmes team and the Programme Funding team to develop and deliver plans and manage projects.

Our ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and motivated marketer with experience in ‘selling’ professional development / online volunteering opportunities, and in managing agencies and contractors to deliver on fixed projects as aligned to good marketing practices. You should be highly organised and goals-driven, with a collaborative approach, a growth-oriented mindset, and a strong desire to harness the power of marketing to support women’s economic empowerment.

About the role

£18,975 for 22 hours, FTE salary is £31,051

In this varied and rewarding role you will develop and coordinate our team of volunteers and Sessional Workers (zero hours youth workers).  You will be instrumental in defining our volunteer strategy moving forward and identify other participation opportunities such as work experience placements, university placements, internships and apprenticeships.

You will also help develop internal engagement activities and participate in external awareness raising and fundraising activities, to support both volunteering and fundraising.

This role is for 22 hours per week, which will ideally be worked over 4 days.   There is the option of hybrid working.   We provide a surrey wide service, so the successful applicant will be willing to travel across the county to meet volunteers and sessionals as  well as participate in engagement opportunities.

Key responsibilities

Full duties are included in the job outline, key responsibilities include:

• To coordinate the recruitment and induction process for volunteers and sessional workers.
• To coordinate, develop and deliver appropriate induction, training and supervision activities.
• To act as a central point of contact for volunteers and sessional workers
• To embed good practice in every aspect of the volunteer & sessional worker journey.
• To develop and manage partnerships with external stakeholders including Universities/volunteering hubs, local businesses and community groups to encourage a range of opportunities.
• To organise and attend community events and organise recruitment workshops and talks, across the county.
• To support the HR Manager by organising engagement activities and forums for our own staff, sessionals, volunteers and other stakeholders.
• To undertake ad hoc work for our fundraising function, to support our community fundraising efforts.
• To coordinate sessional work opportunities.

About you

You must:

• Have proven experience of recruiting and managing volunteers
• Have experience delivering information or training
• Have experience with having difficult conversations with volunteers or workers
• Have experience of working across different teams, networking and developing links with other agencies
• Be an effective communicator, with strong written communication skills
• Be able to multi-task, plan a workload, set priorities and manage time effectively, working without direct supervision
• Have a good professional knowledge of standard Microsoft packages and databases

This important role will represent FareShare Sussex & Surrey engaging with corporate partners and key stakeholders such as council leaders, politicians and dignitaries across the region.

You will also work alongside our food Supply Manager to help provide a holistic partnership with our suppliers, encouraging them to support our work across the ESG / CSR spectrum.

Duties and responsibilities  

Business Development and Relationship Management 

• Act as main point of contact for existing corporate partners and stakeholders

• Build strong relationships through a stewardship programme to engage with partners in a variety of ways on a regular basis

• To provide the highest quality supporter care, working in partnership with the business to engage with its staff, maximising fundraising and retain support for the long term

• Support with engaging FareShare national partners where required

• Capture feedback from businesses to adapt our propositions

New Business

• Work closely with the Development Team to identify new business opportunities (including charity of the year partnerships) and to develop new relationships with stakeholders across Sussex and Surrey

• To research and approach companies to maximise fundraising opportunities,Develop and promote sponsorship opportunities and corporate partnership offerings

• Create engaging proposition presentations to approach new businesses engaging with them and s other such stakeholders regularly, hosting visits and attending meetings where necessary

Reporting and Monitoring

• Provide regular reporting for trustees and the Development Team

• To monitor and evaluate all aspects of the partnership, reporting on income and engagement. 

• Regular indepth bespoke reporting for our funding partner

• Work with the Head of Development on creating forecasts and budgets

• Ensuring records are maintained through our CRM system, Donorfy

• Adhere to data protection regulation and have an understanding of the Fundraising Regulator guidelines
