As a part of the Support & Wellbeing Team, you will be required to identify informal carers from all communities in the London Borough of Camden, who care for a family member, partner or friend living with a Mental Health condition. You will provide relevant and appropriate support, information and advocacy to informal carers.  

You will need proven experience of delivering provision within a related field and working with people and/or community groups; in particular we are keen to find someone with knowledge and experience in Mental Health. More details can be found in the job application pack on our website.

Overview of the Role

As a Welfare Benefits Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals in making benefit claims and accessing the support they need. You will join a busy team that supports thousands of disabled people and carers across the borough and specifically provide a bespoke home visiting service to our most vulnerable clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Benefit Claims Assistance:

   • Provide guidance and support to individuals in understanding their eligibility for various welfare benefits, including Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, and Attendance Allowance.

   • Assist clients in completing benefit application forms accurately and efficiently.

   • Stay updated on changes to welfare benefit regulations and policies to provide accurate information to clients.

2. Home Visiting Service:

   • Conduct home visits to assess clients' needs and provide personalised support in accessing welfare benefits.

   • Develop tailored action plans in collaboration with clients to maximise their benefit entitlements and improve their financial stability.

3. Client Empowerment and Education:

   • Empower clients through education about their rights and responsibilities within the benefits system.

4. Working within our Team

• Liaise with colleagues in order to provide the best possible advice to all clients

• Attend team meetings

• Undertake appropriate training

• Work with our Communications Lead to share the impact of the service

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring a Mental Health Floating Support Coordinator to support our Luton Service which delivers support to individuals living within the community who have support needs pertaining to their mental health and wellbeing. The service works alongside statutory services, with the aim of moving people on to independent living within two years. You will empower and motivate our residents and participants to achieve their personal goals and gain greater independence, which enables them to reintegrate into the community and lead fulfilling lives. The support offered is tailored to the individual needs of the participants and residents through a recovery based model.

Who is the service for & what is it funded/ accessed to deliver?

• Men and women, aged 18+
• Our clients have a primary mental health need, including complex needs and dual diagnosis

All our clients have a personalised support plans and proactive support work, to engage them with the opportunities available to them to live independently in the community, develop their social skills and independent living skills. We work with clients to improve their health and wellbeing, including supporting people to manage their mental health condition and crisis prevention.

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience is required
• Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, including in the criminal justice field, mental health, and/or substance misuse or a good understanding of the sector
• Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
• Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others

What we would like, but not essential:

• Appropriate qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care/Community Justice, or professional equivalent
• Experience of providing housing support and a practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role
• Experience creating co-produced support plans and providing appropriate interventions for service user and liaising with other professionals

About the Role:

About the role

We are looking for a new team member to use their skills and experience to make a difference to peoples’ lives, encourage sustainability and help protect and improve the natural environment.

Our vision and mission have never been more relevant.  Across the UK governments are pledging investment and action on walking and cycling with an increasing demand for high quality infrastructure. As part of this we are keen to further develop the National Cycle Network as a network for nature, as well as people. To help achieve this Sustrans produced a Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) in October 2023.

As the Senior Ecologist you will advise staff on all ecological aspects of Sustrans work across the north of England, as well as parts of Scotland and Wales (as required). 

In collaboration with colleagues and partners across a wide range of disciplines, you will undertake field surveys, manage ecological and arboricultural sub-consultants, prepare reports to support planning applications and use your expertise to help shape the design of new walking and cycling paths so that they benefit people and wildlife.

Candidates should be based within the geographical area with regular travel expected to either hub base in Manchester or Leeds.

About you

You should be a skilled ecologist with significant experience in relevant previous roles and a higher-level vocational qualification, or degree in ecology or associated subject.

Your expertise will help to embed best ecological practice across the charity and shape our approach to delivering biodiversity improvement as part of route management and construction activity across the UK, with an emphasis on projects in our Northern region.

As an excellent communicator, you will have good verbal and written communications skills demonstrable in ability to communicate effectively to a range of different audiences. You will also be skilled in ecological report writing including reviewing and interpreting third party reports.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in East Sussex for a highly motivated and committed Family Worker to build on a well-established commissioned service.   

About the Role:  

Kinship is the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales. We work with all kinship carers – the grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and family friends who are caring for children when their parents can’t.  

We’re seeking an experienced Family Worker who is passionate about supporting kinship carers to get the right support at the right time. We are looking for someone who has the interpersonal and partnership skills to perform their role sensitively and creatively while also meeting reporting and impact requirements. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with East Sussex County Council and will share their ambition to support families to keep their children safe through support, advice and guidance.

You’ll be delivering our Kinship Connected programme offering support to special guardians and other kinship carers, providing emotional and practical support to carers in their homes and in the community over a six-month intervention cycle. You’ll also connect them with other kinship carers through peer support groups, as well as supporting to unlock community assets.   

This is a role where you’ll need to have strong boundaries and personal resilience – which we’ll also support through development and reflective practice. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Practical and emotional support to kinship carers virtually or in-person in their home or community.
• Signposting or referring to relevant national and local services.
• Liaising with other professionals and organisations.
• Attending professional meetings when the carer needs extra support (e.g. CIN. CP, family group conference, school meetings).
• Making referrals to other Kinship services such as Advice, Someone Like Me, Peer-to-Peer.

• Able to respond to victims of and those affected by crime by providing emotional support, information and referrals on to Victim Support services and other agencies
• Providing immediate support, advice and trauma first aid referrals to victims of and those affected by major incidents and terrorism.
• Seamlessly working across multiple services with different processes, procedures and recording mechanisms.
• Managing and responding appropriately to competing priorities, services and needs.
• Responsible for taking disclosures and responding appropriately by either escalating the safeguarding concern to the 'Designated Safeguarding Officer' or to respond immediately to life threatening situations.

You will also work in partnership with a multi-disciplinary team of support staff, specialist staff and external partners and will be responsible for providing guidance and support to our residents, staff and visitors. Recovery Workers work flexibly on weekly shift rotas that include evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

• Ensure that male survivors' safety and housing needs are met, provide specialist support for survivors at the moment of crisis.

This role involves both face to face and virtual support in a hybrid model of working. There is an expectation that you will do a mixture of working from home, our office in Old Street and in co-location at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

As a Hospital Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate you will:

• Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.

We have two Project Manager vacancies for our Young People in the Criminal Justice System Programme in Bristol. The vacancies are listed separately but we are open to a discussion with candidates who wish to work a combination of both roles, about setting up an alternative working pattern that works for them. We understand that individuals may prefer a variety of tasks and responsibilities and are keen to make this work for the right people. 

Project Manager (Support Worker): 1-1 support for young people at risk – 35 hours/week (full-time)

In this role you will provide 1-1 intensive support to a caseload young people who are identified as being at risk of offending or have already had some contact with the justice system (e.g. the police). You will provide face-to-face support to each young person, in their local community, to help them develop confidence, aspirations, and a pro-social mindset. Key to this will be helping them to recognise their strengths and capabilities, consider positive lifestyle choices, and create an action plan to help them move forward to a brighter future.

Project Manager (Course Tutor): “For My Future” delivery for young people – 14 hours/week (part-time)

“For My Future” is a bespoke 6-week course designed in 2019 specifically for people in the justice system. Focusing on both personal skills and practical ones (CVs, applications, interviews), the course is delivered either in person or online to small, single-sex cohorts over a 6-week period. To succeed in this role, you will have experience of supporting people in group scenarios and be confident presenting both in person and online. Groups will need to be carefully managed to ensure each young person gets the best experience and can benefit from the course.
