As Fundraising Appeals Officer, you will:

We are looking for a Navigation and Support Officer to join our Intake and Navigation team.

About the role
As a key member of the Intake and Navigation team, you will provide initial intake navigation and support to service users. The team acts as the first point of contact for service users seeking access to health and wellbeing services.

As part of this team, you will manage enquiries and support requests for physical and mental health and welfare support. You will also provide signposting to other organisations where appropriate. 

You will be responsible for triaging incoming website enquiries, contacting service users, gathering pertinent information, and assessing their eligibility, presenting need, immediate risks and complexity.

You will prioritise cases based on established criteria to ensure those who have a priority or urgent need are supported effectively in collaboration with our Intake and Navigation Coordinators. You will also follow up on support enquiries for low risk / low complexity service users to ensure access to support is seamless and efficient.

Your role will involve maintaining meticulous documentation, ensuring excellent and clear communication throughout the triage process, and facilitating seamless referrals to appropriate service pathways within our framework.

You will provide advice, signposting, and make referrals where appropriate to support service users effectively.

What you will be achieving

The Grants Officer will be a member of the Biomedical Grants and Policy Department. You will work with a Grants Manager to administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grants schemes and activities. You will act as a key point of contact for external liaison relating to the schemes. Working with the other Grants Officers and the rest of the Team, you will also help to develop and deliver events for Academy grant holders, as well as contribute to the Academy’s wider portfolio of work, and the delivery of our strategy.

What you will be doing

Administering a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grant schemes:

• Processing applications, determining eligibility and coordinating peer review of eligible applications

• Managing the new grants once awarded, along with the Academy’s existing portfolio of grants

• Acting as a key external point of contact for the Academy’s grants schemes, such as by providing advice to applicants, awardees, and host organisations
• Developing and maintaining working relationships with scheme funders
• Working with other Academy staff, particularly the rest of the Careers department and supporting the other Grants Officers in the delivery of their schemes, as required

Supporting the development and delivery of events for Academy grant holders, for example induction and scientific meetings for grant holders

Contributing to the Academy’s wider portfolio of work, including drafting and providing data for papers for the Academy’s governing committees

AMF profile

Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) was founded in 2004 and is a charity that fights malaria in a highly effective, accountable and transparent way.

We do this by purchasing and distributing multiple millions of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) at a time in nationwide universal coverage campaigns. This is the most cost-effective way of preventing malaria. AMF receives donations from the public and last financial year we received over US$147m. AMF is particularly data-focused and monitors and reports on net use and drives and supports innovation to improve the effectiveness of malaria programmes.

AMF is the world’s third largest funder of nets.

AMF has been consistently rated a top charity for the last 16 years by independent charity evaluators GiveWell, Giving What We Can, and The Life You Can Save who focus on cost-effectiveness and impact.

We are a team of fifteen highly motivated individuals with different skills and experience. Each person has an important role to play. Whilst all team members work remotely with constant communication between them, this role is more independent. There is direct liaising with the CEO and with the Head of Technology as needed. While the team is small, the impact is big - our net distributions protect millions of people. Our largest programme is in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where we are funding 55 million nets to protect 100 million people for distribution during 2024 to 2026. We have ongoing multi-million net programmes in other countries including Chad, Guinea, Nigeria, Togo, Uganda and Zambia.

A commitment to accountability and transparency is at the heart of what AMF does. This is in evidence in the way we manage the more than 100,000 donations AMF receives each year and the availability of our financial data, which is publicly shown in real-time. By tracking donations through our accounts and linking them to the specific distributions, donors can track where the nets funded are distributed. All revenue and expenses are entered into our bespoke systems, which manage all of the above as well as facilitating annual audits globally and in several individual countries.

Donations Administrator

AMF is recruiting a Donations Administrator to work either four or five days per week.

This is a crucial role at AMF as this work is at the heart of managing the donations we receive which allows us to share with donors the specific impact of each donation they make.

The Donations Administrator will record and reconcile the daily donations made to AMF via various methods; online, bank transfer and cheques, across its global portfolio. They will manage email interactions with donors and other organisations as well as undertaking data cleaning or analysis/investigation. Responsibilities may also include managing aspects of our accounting system and financial reporting.

The right candidate would enjoy the detailed and systematic nature of financial bookkeeping work (although no specific financial knowledge is required), is entirely comfortable working alone at a computer for the majority of their working day and would be excited to do this for an organisation whose focus is preventing death and illness.

• Managing external funds-senders and aggregators and related activity and transfers

• Responsibility for all matters relating to Gift Aid and similar systems for other countries

Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers. 

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA. 

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the South West region in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire or Somerset. There will be occasional travel around the South West Region, and you will be required to travel for quarterly face to face team meetings. 

About the team 

The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the eight SSAFA branches in the South West, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team of 10, which includes two Regional Casework Managers and a Regional Operations Manager. 

About you 

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

 It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and if you have experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the South West would be valuable

About the Role

As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will provide pro-active, high quality, frontline service to male victims of domestic abuse through on-going risk assessment, providing individual safety planning, trauma-informed support, guidance, information, and advocacy and enabling victim/survivors to access the services they need in the aftermath of the abuse and trauma they have experienced.

You may make initial contact with victims of crime, explaining our services and assessing the impact of crime, or receive referrals from colleagues, in order to provide on-going support and case management. You will work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and multi agency partners when required. This role requires a specialist understanding of the barriers faced by male victims of domestic abuse and harmful practices.

As part of this role, you will manage and deliver a series of high standard direct marketing campaigns across our Regular Giving programme. As we embark on our new three-year funding strategy, we are looking for an innovative and talented fundraiser with a least five years experience, to join the team and help us generate new creative partnerships and opportunities. The role of Retail Development Manager is crucial to the income growth and audience reach of The Children’s Trust retail function. The postholder will be responsible for researching, developing and establishing new income streams to reach new audiences and drive footfall for a disperse network of charity shops, including establishing the online selling of donated and bought in (New) goods; management of online and digital selling platforms and associated stakeholders, ensuring that all compliance requirements are fulfilled.

The role will work collaboratively as part of the Retail Management Team to develop and deliver long-term growth plans to drive voluntary income growth and increase footfall and to lead on new business initiatives.

Role Requirements

• Research opportunities to recommend, test and rollout new online and digital selling platforms. Introduce associated systems and processes to achieve compliance.
• Working with the Retail Sales Manager, identify and source donated product lines and items for listing and selling through online and digital selling platforms. Share learnings to source quality stock to drive sales.
• Create a new online offer to complement and integrate within our existing retail portfolio of shops across Surrey, Sussex and Kent. Develop processes to manage online and digital selling: inventory, listing, pick, pack and despatch of online stock, including organising the logistics for deliveries to customers and collections to meet both shops and customer requirements.
• Manage the development and optimisation of online and digital selling platforms and make recommendations for rapid growth and new business proposals.
• Work with the Retail Sales Manager and Marketing and Communications team to create assets and content that can be used in store, online, through owned channels to maximise opportunities, sales promotions and seasonal changes across the chain of shops.
• Research and implement efficiencies in reducing waste disposal costs for shops estate including items no longer purchased through Rag merchants.
• Research and recommend new income streams for the sale of unsold donated items to mitigate low return through Rag merchants.
• Manage full compliance of the Children’s Trust online and digital selling platforms in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Fire safety, Trading Standards, Retail Gift Aid, GDPR, ThankQ CRM, Risk Assessments, Safeguarding and all other legal or statutory requirements.
• Develop and manage risk assessments and associated online selling policy protocols to prevent reputational damage to The Children’s Trust through digital and online trading activities.
• Manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships including supplier contracts, internal support teams, ensuring that efficient and compliant services are maintained.
• Working with Marketing and Communications and Supporter Care colleagues to ensure that the retail supporter journey is optimised and relationships are managed holistically.r

About the Role

As an Independent Domestic & Sexual Violence Advocate you will provide pro-active, high quality, frontline service to victims of domestic and sexual abuse through on-going risk assessment, providing individual safety planning, trauma-informed support, guidance, information, and advocacy and enabling victim/survivors to access the services they need in the aftermath of the abuse and trauma they have experienced.

You will work within a hospital setting to support both patients and staff. You will make initial contact with victims of domestic and sexual abuse, explaining our services and assessing the impact of crime, or receive referrals from colleagues, in order to provide on-going support and case management. Support could include empowering the client to report to the police, accessing Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) services, and specialist support such as pretrial therapy and sexual violence counselling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess risks and needs using evidence-based checklists.
• Focus on high-risk cases with short to medium-term crisis intervention.
• Assist high-risk victims in accessing safety services.
• Deliver tailored support and information.
• Understand legal frameworks for protecting children and vulnerable adults.

• Empower clients to recognize domestic abuse dynamics.
• Participate in Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC).

About You:

Ideally, you will have knowledge about legal remedies for domestic abuse victims and have experience working with drug, alcohol, and mental health issues. An understanding of benefits, housing, and homelessness would also be beneficial.

Main Responsibilities
