Responsibilities:

• Crafting Compelling Funding Applications: Collaborate with the CEO to create high-quality, persuasive funding applications. Utilise your creativity and storytelling skills to effectively communicate the impact of our projects.
• Building Positive Relationships: Cultivate strong partnerships with trusts, grants, and foundations. Ensure timely and meaningful communication with funders, including thank-you messages, updates, and reporting.
• Maintaining Records and Pipeline: Keep accurate records of funders and funding applications. Manage the pipeline of submissions and responses to optimise fundraising efforts.
• Prospect Research: Conduct thorough research using trust-finding databases and other resources to identify potential grant makers. Match suitable projects with the most appropriate funders.

The Head of Finance will lead on budgeting, financial management and reporting and work closely with the Chief Executive to provide effective financial direction to the Treasurer and the Board of Trustees.

You will provide financial leadership overseeing all aspects of the organisation’s finances and in ensuring that it complies with relevant legislation and principles. You will be responsible for efficient policies, procedures, systems and practices to support the smooth running of the organisation and will be proactive in developing new systems and processes to meet the needs of the British Deaf Association (BDA) as it grows. As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the financial planning cycles, governance, and management reporting process as well as managing relationships with external stakeholders/advisers ensuring value for money, contractual compliance, evaluation and quality assurance processes.

With prior experience of working with charities’ accounts as well as experience of Sage accounting system used at the BDA, you will manage the Finance team and provide excellent business service and support to circa 28 staff across the UK.

As a bilingual organisation with a working language of British Sign Language (BSL) and English, we will provide BSL training for the successful candidate.

My Life My Choice (MLMC) is a multi-award-winning self-advocacy charity uniquely run by and for people with learning disabilities, founded in 1998.  The charity delivers a diverse range of innovative user led projects that enhance and empower the lives of adults with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire.  These established projects include a fee earning training and consultancy Professional Services team, gig buddy, travel buddy scheme, a nightclub, campaigns and self-advocacy groups.

We are now looking for a committed individual to join our Gig Buddy team. The role holder will help to deliver a broad range of social activities which increase fun, friends, confidence and independence for our members with a learning disability.

Main purpose of the role

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, this post will lead on the development and delivery of Thrive’s community and public fundraising whilst working collaboratively with the rest of fundraising team to maximise and develop opportunities over various income streams.

 The post holder will work with our local centres to develop fundraising opportunities and offerings that are appealing to the local community.

Who are you?

The successful candidate will have previous experience as a CQC Registered / Regional Manager or Quality professional, with experience of auditing within Health and Social Care, and a proven track record of leading services to “Outstanding.”

You will have an in-depth knowledge of safety, health and social care regulatory compliance and supporting legal frameworks, to be able to coach, advise and mentor care and support colleagues within your designated areas. You will be skilled in embedding processes to drive quality standards, and have a solid understanding of assurance and “what excellent looks like.”. A self-starter, you will have a continuous improvement mind-set and enjoy building strong relationships with your stakeholder, and will have excellent communication skills.

A level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent, and a recognised Auditor qualification (or willing to work towards one) is essential. You will have experience in quality improvement methodology, risk management and root cause analysis, with a willingness to work towards any required qualifications.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PURPOSE OF THE POST

The Finance and Resources Team is responsible for responsible for HI’s finances, general services and HR in the UK. It comprises the Chief Finance and Operating Officer, a Finance Officer and an Accounting Officer.

The main purpose of this post is:

• To ensure smooth and efficient running of the HI UK office, including office services, IT, internal communications and health & safety
• To act as a key point of contact within the organisation and externally
• To undertake human resources administration for staff and volunteers, including supporting recruitment and follow-up
• To provide administrative support to the Chief Executive, Leadership Team and Board of Trustees

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

• Maintain the office facilities and environment to agreed service levels
• Act as primary point of contact with the landlord and all suppliers for the office space, proactively dealing with arising issues
• Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of office equipment and IT equipment for all staff and volunteers, and arrange their repair or replacement, in conjunction with the Finance Officer and the Accounting Officer, as need arises
• Act as principal contact person for HI UK’s IT infrastructure and support provider, helping colleagues to access IT support when required and developing and implementing the organisation’s IT strategy
• Manage budget lines associated with running of the office and participate in procurement, primarily of office and IT supplies, liaising with external suppliers.
• Act as designated Health & Safety Officer for the office, including ensuring Health & Safety policies are up to date and being adhered to
• Continually review systems in place within the office, make improvements where required, and communicate these to relevant people

Human Resources

• Provide administrative support and advice for the recruitment of staff, consultants and volunteers, including advertising, interviews, issue of contracts and inductions, liaising with the federation manager and recruitment teams when relevant
• Assist with other HR tasks, including managing staff and volunteer files, managing the HR information system, administrative support for payroll and contributing to updates of the staff handbook
• Support teams on volunteer recruitment, contracts, induction, support and training
• Maintain an up-to-date welcome kit for new starters and provide and coordinate induction training sessions

· Make sure that HR policies and internal processes are updated and well known by all the staff

• Provide support and advice to managers on HR matters, in collaboration with the Chief Finance and Operating Officer and the Chief Executive, including leave management, payroll, pension, changes in contracts or situation, flexible working and flexible hours, diversity and inclusion, potential conflict and interpretation of the Staff Handbook

Administrative support

• Provide administrative support to the Chief Executive, including diary management, preparing and servicing meetings and filing
• Organise and support meetings of the Board of Trustees, including room booking, diary management, preparation of papers, minute-taking and organising catering
• Maintain filing systems
• Deal with enquiries, calls and emails from the public, partners and other HI entities
• Support specific projects as needed

Other tasks

• Contribute to projects led by the Finance and Resources team and the HI UK whole team.

• You’ll manage the delivery of our creative programmes at various locations looking to ensure they are delivered to the highest standard
• You will ensure all sessions are inclusive challenge students, and where possible, use digital technology and learning outside of Share to embed skills 
• You will line manage the Creative Expression Tutors supporting them in developing project objectives, conducting one-to-one and appraisal meetings and reviewing and agree project resourcing 
• You’ll monitor the quality and impact of the creative programmes, their outcomes and delivery

• You have experience in planning and coordinator inclusive activities with a focus on the creative arts 
• You have experience in coordinating, planning and delivering sessions for adults that enable people to acquire new skills, both social and practical

We are looking for an experienced recruiter to join our People Team. The right candidate will have a real passion for recruitment and a keen eye for talent, strong communication skills, and an eye for detail.

This is an exciting time for Focus, as we have a new, ambitious organisational strategy. The Recruitment Coordinator will coordinate Focus Birmingham's end-to-end recruitment process, including writing and advertising jobs; utilising databases and social media channels to search and source potential candidates; coordinating and participating in selection procedures, and maintaining an administrative function that promotes a positive candidate experience. The successful candidate will be able to work closely with appointing managers to deliver a seamless recruitment service for salary staff and volunteers and provide advice regarding best practices, presenting practical solutions and options about hiring needs.

You’ll join our London-based colleagues working on a hybrid basis, and lead a high-performing Policy, Public Affairs and Research team. 

The role is responsible for: 

• Playing a senior leadership role in Sense’s Leadership Team and Engagement directorate, planning ahead to our 70th anniversary year in 2025 and beyond 
• Ensuring Sense is seen by national decision makers and stakeholders as the foremost and most authoritative voice on the issues facing people with complex disabilities and their families. 
• Ensuring that public policy in England meets the needs of people with complex disabilities and their families, whilst supporting similar work in Wales and Northern Ireland  
• Providing the expertise and evidence base on the lives of people with complex disabilities and the changes they need to see. 
• Ensuring that the organisation is seen as credible, influential and accurate by external partners. 

To succeed in this role you will meet the following requirements: 

• Relevant graduate level qualification, or equivalent experience
• Evidence of effective influencing of public policy
• Evidence of continuing development of relevant knowledge and skills in the field of public policy development and research 
• Able to demonstrate a significant history of achievement at a senior management level
• Able to demonstrate significant achievement in influencing the development of public policy
• Able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the way that public policy and new legislation is formulated and developed 
• Track record of successfully influencing MPs, policy makers and opinion formers to achieve improvements on behalf of disadvantaged groups within society through the use of evidence, information and data gathered from a diverse range of stakeholders
• A passionate commitment to people with complex disabilities and Sense’s vision and values; a willingness to learn communication skills and how to make activities, opportunities and work accessible for people with complex disabilities. 
• A demonstrable commitment to delivering positive change in the lives of people with complex disabilities and their families. 
• Evidence of effective consultation with stakeholders using a range of methodologies to gather evidence to inform the development of policies. 
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at a senior level.
